resulting shortages of yoke filled cackleberries why else has the price of chickens gone down but the price of eggs gone up bring out yer dead county of hawai i mayor is finalizing a covid hazard pay compensation for county union workers mayor kimo alameda s campaign promise to settle a hazard pay agreement by the hawaiʻi government employees association hega that worked through the covid pandemic the agreement to accepts a two year hazard pay decision that pays out 70 million dollars that s just for the big island alone negotiators from the state house and senate agreed last week to raise more than 449 million to fund an arbitration deal and hazard pay for union and non union state employees who worked during the pandemic from 2020 2022 usa today alameda recently signed deals with hawaiʻi government employees association and hawaiʻi fire fighters association and tentative agreements are the final stages with state of hawaiʻi organization of police officers and united public workers the other two public sector unions representing county employees big island now news hawai i emergency management county employees are considered essential workers pandemic or otherwise understandably so since these are the first responders the police fire and paramedics that must interact with the public working with the public has certain risks of contracting covid or some other disease there are life threatening risks these unions agreements were already existing contractual obligations they are brave people that do their jobs rain or shine and they deserve hazard pay for what they do who pays for this hazard compensation we the taxpayers pay through increases in our taxes even those receiving hazard pay are paying taxes on their extra compensation what about other essential and non essential workers the workers that are neither union nor county employees those that work at retail and grocery stores the uber driver the airport car rental place the pizza delivery guy these were essential workers depending on where they live in the country where is their hazard pay compensation most nonessential workers and small business owners lost everything during covid either because they were not considered essential or their employer couldn t pay them some states were aggressive in their lockdown policies i can understand why emergency management county employees are getting hazard pay but it appears all state and county workers are getting this extra pay also what was their hazard sitting in rush hour traffic all masked up if covid warranted this then wait till the government finds another disease to abuse for example h1n5 the bird flu to start quarantining again these are schemes politicians use flex their power and to get votes from union workers the average non county worker pays extra in taxes to support with no relief this is what keeps hawai i expensive to live why good paying jobs are hard to find and affordable housing is nowhere to be found what we need is to have doge to look at hawaii s government and cut out the waste fraud and abuse we ll never know because hawaii s government will never tell aside from the severity of covid and the government abuses that did happen the pandemic has never gone away the crisis just keeps politically mutating itself with the help from government and the media a crisis that never dies but is reconstituted for political intents politics means power and power leads to abuses the temptation for abuses is too strong for many not to take advantage for politicians to do things they wouldn t have imagined before to concentrate and expand their power beyond their legal authority in addition to never letting a crisis go to waste and never let a crisis end politicians will always reinvent renovate and revise a crisis so the fear never subsides america bisesquicentennial current conditions cloudy skies with numerous showers there is a 90 chance of precipitation we received 11 16 inch of doge dollars february 27 2025 kini aloha kākou doge is being felt in hawai i and that s a good thing because for years the democrat leftists in hawai i have been pandering about sustainability but not affordability nor accountability hawai i democrats believe in being dependent on us federal dollars to sustain the state of aloha it shows just how dependent democrats states are on obtaining federal government for taxpayers money now those federal dollars are being scrutinized by doge for waste fraud and abuse and trust me there is plenty of waste fraud and abuse those hawai i residents who don t work for the government either federal or state are funding federal grants and monies from unkle sam hawai i locals know just how hard it is to stretch a dollar to make ends meet the first thing mainlanders encounter when moving to hawai i is cost of living sticker shock everything is ridiculously expensive here except for kalifornia which is a whole nother country from the usofa but i digress doge is pulling the plug on unnecessary purposeless and needless spending such as hiring dei and other unqualified people the previous administration hired for critical and safety roles the state must somehow pick up the slack hawai i state is already fat dumb and happy relying on federal monies to pay for useless state projects for example the office of sustainability climate equity and resilience or oscer what exactly does oscer do is nebulous but the employees get six figure salaries to tell us which way the wind blows oscer is just one of thousands of federal state government waste fraud and abuse of the taxpayers monies but wait till you find out how much the governor judges and legislators are getting paid hawaii s cost of living sticker shock is a notoriously chronic self inflected problem the high cost of locally grown food often deters price conscious consumers local farmers can t compete against mainland products the state regulations and cost of producing products make competition prohibited agriculture advocates are working to change that through education and policies local farmers ranchers restauranters and grocery stores are working on economically sustainable methods to grow and buy locally the state makes it hard for local businesses to compete in a free market far left extremist environmental laws prevent farmers and ranchers from doing business in hawai i affordable electricity produced by fossil fuels is nonexistent replaced by solar and wind farms emphasis green energy farms that produce expensive unreliable energy prime farmland that could be used for agriculture and housing is used for generating electricity the idea of producing locally and buying locally is inherently expensive and prohibitive by legislative design hawaii s net zero emissions as mandated by 2045 will forever prevent local sustainability it s planet over people let s look at hawai i state government are we getting our monies worth from our elected officials is the governor and legislators doing all they can to make hawai i affordable sustainable and livable let s peek at how much our taxes are paying our elected officials are we getting our monies worth from our elected government i think not hawai i is already expensive because we import practically everything from the mainland those laws were passed by hawaii s democrat controlled legislature hawaii s marxist democrat party prefers a clean habitat for their electric vehicles some rechargeable bicycles pads all to save the planet from the people that inhabit this world almost everything we eat all that we consume at the grocery stores is imported from elsewhere except for a few local stores that work with local farmers much of the meats eggs fruits and vegetable produce is flown into hawai i the cost is enormous why state of hawaii laws that are 100 anti farm anti ranch and anti dairy the hawai i state legislature makes it expensive for farmers and ranchers to produce products for local consumption hawai i governor josh green returned from a trip to the nation s capital on sunday after attending the 2025 winter meeting of the national governors association where he and other governors met with president donald trump for over 5 hours in this interview with khon2 news gov green is not interesting in working with president trump s administration green and the democrat state legislature are pushing through a flurry of bills to dramatically reduce our individual freedoms many of these bills are draconian child gender affirmation care forced vaccinations with no exemptions free speech restrictions eliminating gun rights and other constitutional violations the hawai i marxist democrats are out of control their goal is to increase taxes and increase their salaries hawai i democrats and the governor will not live within a reasonable budget they will give themselves pay raises while hawai i working people struggle to make ends meet the only way this will change is to vote for fiscally responsible candidates there s no justification why our taxes should pay the governor legislators and judges over a quarter of a million dollars in yearly salaries when ordinary people are paid peanuts in the private sector this is why hawaii s cost of living is so high hawai i needs doge dollars to unroot the waste fraud and corruption in government hawaii s entrenched marxist democrat supermajority is exactly like kalifornia except kalifornia has more money and celebrity power to address natural disasters governor green believes he is trump proofing hawai i like kalifornia s gruesome newscum is doing with his state of chaos we the taxpayers are caught in the middle the only way to fix this i...
