family skip to main skip to sidebar lamb family ben teea angel kynslee payson mayzie sunday march 23 2014 grandpa lamb s funeral in august we found out that ben s grandpa lamb probably wasn t going to live much longer we were heartbroken we skyped with him and were able to talk to him for a little while before he died i know ben was so grateful for that chance but wished he could have been there with him sweet grandpa lamb was the sweetest man he was not a man of many words but was content to just hang out we loved going to visit him and cherish the time when we lived next door to them for awhile payson got to spend a lot of time with grandma and grandpa lamb and we are lucky to have had that opportunity grandpa lamb was a world war ii veteran he enlisted when he was 16 when he lied and told them he was 18 he went to japan and fought in the battle of okinawa he was later stationed in china and was part of the last group of american military to ever be in china he lived a good life worked hard and was a wonderful grandpa to us he was a kind and gentle and loving man we will miss him after he died and the funeral was planned we decided to drive out to utah the timing could not have worked out any more perfect ben had just finished his summer classes the week before and his fall classes were starting the week after so we had one week to spend in utah so we headed out on that dreadful drive entertaining ourselves by seeing how many grapes ben can put in his mouth haha payson loves to look at the maps and see where we are going the kids did pretty good it was annoying to have to stop every three hours to feed mayz and after awhile she couldn t handle it anymore i think it was after this stop that we decided to call it a night we stopped in cheyenne and the drove the rest of the way the following morning payson was so excited to be at a hotel and was even more excited for the breakfast he woke up a few times asking if it was morning yet so we could go eat haha funny kid he was so happy to finally get to eat as always it was great to see everyone we stayed with ben s family and even had our room which was really nice it s nice to be the visitors and have everyone excited to see you while i was there i decided to get my hair done my sil heidi s best friend does hair from her home and jan had made an appointment for her and grandma lamb and when i mentioned i wanted my hair done jan let me take her spot which was so nice of her i wanted it cut but wasn t really sure how i was looking at pictures on pinterest trying to get ideas when it came time to cut i decided to just go short i don t know what came over me but i just went for it we had to document this momentous occasion my hair was so long i was so nervous i decided to go for a long bob a line type style it was so short i didn t know what to think shandi was nice to style it for me and show me how to do it i was asking all sorts of questions since i don t know how to do short hair she was good to me and answered all my questions and calmed my fears i ended up having to go back later and have her fix the way it laid in the back my hair is just so thick that it s hard for it to lay straight i had a hard time doing it at first and it turned out i didn t love it after it grew out a bit then i started liking it but i didn t like it that short i could never get it to lay the way i wanted and i didn t feel like it was flattering but now i know i don t regret doing it i am glad i tried it and now i know i don t really like short hair i can t wait for it to grow out again but i am enjoying the different stages and lucky for me my hair grows pretty fast i just can t resist taking pictures of these cute kids we saw this license plate cover and we both agreed i need that i have a tendency to be late to everything it drives ben crazy but i am working on it at least i try to work on it s hard to read but it says this is the earliest i have ever been late this is at the viewing cute mayzie in her polka dots i love that little smirk too for the funeral the kids were singing i am a child of god so they are practicing here cute kids we sure miss living close to our cousins they did a great job ej is holding up payson so he could see at the graveside they had a 21 gun salute and a this marine played taps on the bugle it was very touching ben dedicated the grave and i hurried a snapped this pic before he started he did a great job i don t know why i didn t think to ask my family to come to the funeral to help me out i didn t want ben to have to worry about it so i stressed trying to keep the kids happy and quiet it went pretty well until we pulled up to the cemetery ben rushed over to the hurst because he was a pallbearer and i grabbed the kids out well mayzie had pooped and it was everywhere i mean everywhere i didn t know what to do because i knew if i changed her then i would miss it all and i didn t even know where i would go to change her so i wasn t a distraction so i grabbed a disposable changing mat we had in the diaper bag and wrapped it around her and just held her in it we walked over to be with everyone and ben had asked me to film the ceremony so i pulled my phone out and was filming everything with one hand holding mayzie with the other and when they did the 21 gun salute it scared payson and he started crying so i m trying to comfort him trying to keep him quiet trying to film holding mayzie it was stressful and when i stopped filming my phone didn t even have enough storage to save the film so that was pointless i was so stressed i m sure i looked as frazzled as i felt again i don t know why i didn t have my mom or sister come down to help oh well we made it through and i am sure someone filmed it so we ll have to get it from them it was a really beautiful ceremony and a wonderful tribute to a wonderful man grandpa is buried right by kynslee you can see the green mat i wrapped mayzie in we still hadn t had time to change her poor girl afterwards we went to the church for lunch and had fun hanging out with the family including all the extended family we saw people that ben and his family haven t seen in years and it was good to catch up maybe even mend some fences it was a really nice day when we got back to ben s parents house we were the first ones and didn t have a way in and payson had to go to the bathroom so bad so ben just told him to go by the tree haha i hope none of the neighbors saw one benefit to being a boy one of the nights we were there we all went bowling which was really fun we always have a good time hanging out with ben s family heidi and kevin had come down from oregon for the funeral so it was fun to get to hang out with them payson and his cousin ryker not a great picture but still so cute just another crazy selfie i love to take payson loved bowling a family that bowls together stays together sweet pop pop and mayzie taking a nap we went to lunch one day and payson fell asleep on grandma s lap she loved it payson also got to ride with pop pop while he mowed the lawn you can imagine he loved that too it was a fun quick trip we were so grateful we could go it meant so much to be able to be there it was great to celebrate grandpa and remember all the fun times together we will miss him we were not ready to make the dreaded drive home but the time came and off we went it was long and rough just as we expected it to be we ended up staying in rifle co for the night and then driving the rest of the way the next day the day we left we met up with my family for breakfast so we could say hi and hang out with them for a bit it was fun to see everyone we also stopped at the hospital to see my grandma for a bit too so we got started late but we made it home and we ve nearly forgotten how awful it is so we ll probably do it again on the way home we saw this sign and thought it was pretty funny we are so grateful to know families are forever posted by teea lamb 0 comments 7 years for our anniversary this year we bought tickets to a preseason chiefs game as our presents we went with our good friends the mcilraths and had so much fun this was our first time going to an nfl game and it was awesome because it was preseason it was on a friday and the price for tickets was cheaper so it was a win win for us we took this picture and sent it to ben s brother who is a huge chiefs fan we had a lot of fun although the best part was people watching honestly i watched less of the game being at the actual game than i do watching it on tv it was hard to pay attention when there were so many interesting people around a fight broke out a few rows in front of us which was the highlight of the experience there was a sassy lady who was standing up the whole time and a guy that looked like he came with the boys and girls club or something asked if she could sit down because the kids couldn t see she said no so others started asking then her boyfriend stood up and yelled profanities at everyone and then other people stood up and yelled back and it was hilarious people are crazy they had to get security to escort the couple out i was worried that couple was going to get the crap kicked out of them haha it was so fun we always have fun with the mcilraths we were meant to be besties the next day was our actual anniversary and payson and i made a big breakfast he loves to help me in the kitchen that night our friends the payne s were so nice to watch the kids for us so we could go out to dinner and movie it was so great to get all ready and go on a date we hadn t done that for awhile we had a gift card to texas roadhouse and then we went and saw man of steel at the dollar theater we are high rollers that s for sure but you do what you can when you re poor starving college students i love this man so much it has been a crazy seven years but i wouldn t want to be with anyone else i don t feel like anyone ever warned me about how hard marriage is maybe i just didn t listen for some reason i thought it really was just happily ever after but it s hard but i wouldn t want to work on it with or for anyone but ben he is my best trains and playing pretend and mayzie is our beautiful baby girl ben is in law school and teea is a stay at home working from home mom we started a new journey in topeka and have already had many great adventures here ben and teea kynslee jean payson benjamin mayzie jean august 17 2006 a short time in our arms forever in our hearts our baby girl kynslee jean lamb kynslee is the love of our lives and the treasure of our hearts she is so precious so amazing and truly a miracle she was born on september 24 2007 with many complicated heart defects she had open heart surgery at 3 days old which was followed by many months at primary childrens hospital along with 3 more surgeries she was a fighter she endured alot during her short time on this earth she had so much dark hair that was all over the place it was adorable and when you looked into her beautiful dark blue eyes you knew she was special she brought us so much happiness we had so much fun with her we are so thankful she was able to stay with us for so long and that some of the memories we have are at home and doing fun things kynslee passed away april 15 2008 she was almost seven months old even though we know we will see her again we miss her everyday our hearts ache to be able to hold her and kiss her she has changed our lives forever we love you kynslee baby payson baby mayzie sister and brother tye family
