excuse him he has a party to attend lcyalagrippa 8 days prxestess lcyalagrippa reblogged tiny librarian follow when cleopatra took her own life she left behind her four surviving children her firstborn and only living child with caesar caesarion did not live for long after her death she had sent him away from egypt for his own safety but he was falsely lured back with promises of being allowed to rule in her place he was murdered by octavian s men after he d received advice that too many caesars is not good as caesar s biological son he was too much of a threat to octavian s rule it s thought he was likely killed by strangulation but no one knows that for certain or what happened to his body he was only 17 years old it was a different story for her children with mark antony there were the twins cleopatra selene ii and alexander helios who were both 9 at the time of their mother s death and ptolemy philadelphus who was just 5 or 6 the three of them were taken to rome by octavian and forced to walk behind his chariot in his triumph parade attached to it with chains so heavy they could barely walk this aroused not the scorn he d been expecting but sympathy for the poor young children octavian gave them to his sister octavia who had been married to their father to be raised along with her children neither of the boys would see adulthood both apparently dying sometime before 25 b c there were rumours that octavian had both of them killed not wanting any adult sons of antony and cleopatra to remain alive cleopatra selene however had a somewhat kinder fate she was married to juba ii king of numidia and later mauretania she inherited the same strength and pride in her heritage of the ptolemaic women that came before her and used the same titles as her mother on coins she had at least one child a son she named ptolemy and possibly a daughter named drusilla her exact date of death is unknown but she was placed in the royal mausoleum of mauretania when she died it is still visible today and a fragmentary inscription there is dedicated to juba and cleopatra as the king and queen of mauretania 20 55 lcyalagrippa reblogged tiny librarian follow on this day in history august 12th two thousand and forty seven years ago cleopatra vii the last active ruler of ancient egypt committed suicide eleven days previously her husband marc antony had already done the same the couple had been engaged in a civil war against octavian the great nephew of julius caesar who had been declared his legal heir during the final battle in alexandria antony suffered serious desertions among his troops and lost the fight upon his return he falsely heard cleopatra had killed herself and fell on his sword after antony s death octavian arrived in egypt and effectively took cleopatra and her children by antony prisoner she had sent her eldest son caesarion her only living child with caesar away for his own safety she knew that octavian planned for her to march in chains behind his chariot during his triumph parade and would very likely have her killed afterwards rather than suffer such humiliations and indignity she chose to take her own life popular history and mythology leads us to believe that she was killed by inducing an asp to bite her after having locked herself in her mausoleum with her two handmaidens however many modern scholars believe that she instead took a mixture of poisons since the venom of an asp does not cause a quick or painless death octavian and his men found her too late to do anything cleopatra was already dead and one handmaiden iras was nearly dead on the floor the second charmian was straightening the queen s diadem according to legend one of the men asked if this was well done of her mistress and she shot back very well done as befitting the descendant of so many noble kings upon her death octavian honoured her wish to be buried in her mausoleum at antony s side he took her children with antony the twins cleopatra selene and alexander helios along with their younger brother ptolemy philadelphus to rome with him as prisoners of sorts they were fated to march in his triumph parade in their mother s place the chains so heavy they could hardly walk after this they were given to octavian s sister octavia who had been antony s third wife to look after cleopatra s son with caesar caesarion was nominally sole ruler of egypt after his mother s death eleven days after her suicide he was found after being lured back to alexandria under false pretences of being allowed to rule in his mother s place octavian ordered his murder on advice that two caesar were too many with cleopatra s death and caesarion s subsequent murder the rule of the ptolemaic dynasty came to an end and egypt became a mere roman province feelings of guilt 0 today in history 65 89 lcyalagrippa reblogged tiny librarian follow at the age of only thirty three octavian had finally achieved the undisputed control of the roman world which had been his unwavering ambition through fourteen years of civil war to this end he had been responsible for death destruction confiscation and unbroken misery on a scale quite unmatched in all the previous phases of roman civil conflict over the past century the romans from village to empire the true caesar reblogging this so he can forget his kid said yes to false caesar 12 27 lcyalagrippa reblogged prxestess follow a relationship dad could get behind aka anyone not called caesarion 1 2 lcyalagrippa reblogged lcyalagrippa follow relevant he s still clinging to the fact at least in one verse she considers herself inconsequential next to him maybe he ll be spared humiliation of floof between them in that verse but now he s hurling in the tiber and polluting it further 1 lcyalagrippa the fact there is a timeline somewhere that involves him walking in the truly false caesar s triumph and looking up to see his daughter sat with him as his wife and queen makes agrippa here very grumpy prxestess he ll remember your birthday and be super nice if you don t do this to him how humiliating the father in law of the egyptian whore s bastard son tria no lcyalagrippa reblogged prxestess prxestess demetria swallowed the sound of surprise and pain at his grip refusing to give him the satisfaction his words though they were not meant to made her laugh but it was a humorless laugh that did not touch her ocean blue eyes loyalty i have loyalty just not to you or that slimeball up there lauding it over a gullible crowd swallowing all the lies he tells because he s got the connection to their beloved caesar you can dress me up you can shove me in front of a crowd and i ll smile dutifully and maybe even shake a few hands but you will never have my loyalty pulling herself from his grip she let out a breath she hadn t been aware she d been holding she d call emrys the minute they got back to the hotel and plea for him to come rescue her but first she turned on her heel and marched over to the campaign stand tearing the giant poster bearing octavian s face upon it with that obnoxious vote caesar slogan she ripped and ripped at it until it resembled confetti in her palms she threw the bits to the wind watching as the grimace passing for a smile octavian had worn went off in the wind towards the water steeling herself for the anger he d no doubt unleash on her she had a parting shot for him here s to loyalty and here s to caesar s actual son you ll have to enjoy the fame by association while it lasts because he could eclipse the sun with his brilliance if he wanted to you two fools quite quite easily her little stunt did little to alleviate his anger he fought it though his hands formed fists at his side an he breathed out like an aggravated bull he needed to make her understand that her loyalty to him was futile the boy s cards were marked demetria i want you to listen and i want you to listen very closely i love you but you need to understand the way the world works the way this world works the only thing that ll be eclipsed is that boy do you hear me there are certain people in this world who will not let anything get in their way to achieve what they want do you understand v modern oh deeeaaarrrr 4 1 lcyalagrippa reblogged prxestess brunamarquezinedaily follow little tria she s beautiful and he does love her but oh she s infuriating 23 61 lcyalagrippa reblogged loyalcharmian follow the fact that charmian and iras predicted this would happen and now get to sit back and enjoy the horror and disgust of marcus is just so wonderful sure you know your kid marcus know her so well you still think she s in love with antyllus and in denial when it s always been caesarion lcyalagrippa 2 lcyalagrippa marcus right now happy birthday to him not demetria did you have to snuggle and smooch that boy 1 lcyalagrippa reblogged prxestess follow of all the ways she could be spending three weeks of summer break on the political campaign trail was not what she would have picked tria missed home her mother and her friends but had learnt long ago that she was not there to complain but to smile serenely and offer her father the chance to appeal to the family voters after all her father s interest in her only ever piqued around election time before ebbing away again when she d served his need ankles crossed fingers tangled in her lap demetria sat demurely on her seat upon the stage wishing she was anywhere but where she was but in her mind faking just the right level of interest in his speech to be convincing as he began introducing octavian and began the usual stick about caesar and their loving bond tria felt a knot form in her stomach that tightened as he continued out of loyalty to caesarion she couldn t sit there thousands strong crowd or not and co sign the rubbish her father was sprouting she knew what it did to him could see his face before her eyes when he heard about what they said and how they tried to erase him and abused his mother as they did without giving it a second thought the sixteen year old stood and quietly walked off stage the echoes of a shocked crowd following her as she evaded the clutches of her step mother to go to the cars lcyalagrippa marcus saw her flee out the corner of his eye gritting his teeth he carried on regardless and basked in the excited crowd s reaction to octavian as he bounded on the stage free from the spotlight he chased after his daughter grabbing her arm once he reached her he spun her around to face him his anger evident for all to see what do you think you re doing showing me up like that he demanded gripping her tight to hold her in place loyalty is everything in this game don t you have any v modern prxestess he s soooo angry 4 1 lcyalagrippa reblogged loyalcharmian follow i will not trade demetria s safety for my life no tell demetria i love her very much and i am so proud of her and the woman she has become tell her i love her if you believe that then apophis has won i said you must build all the harder for the things that are torn down this is a defeat nothing more and we must face it like soldiers but love is unconquerable agrippa was responsible for two of these deaths and he s not sorry but seeing his daughter cry reaches his cold heart 4 3 lcyalagrippa reblogged tiny librarian follow lcyalagrippa tiny librarian on this day in history august 23rd in 30 b c ptolemy xv philopator philometor caesar was murdered better known by his nickname of caesarion he was the only living child born to cleopatra vii and gaius julius caesar although often portrayed as a young child at the time on film he was in fact 17 years old at the time of his death despite the fact that he was caesar s biological son he was not a roman citizen and when caesar was murdered his will named his great nephew as heir instead cleopatra knew that caesarion would be in great danger because he was a threat to octavian s position she had sent her eldest son away from egypt during the final stages of the war against rome for his own safety after her defeat and subsequent suicide he was nominally sole ruler of egypt he was lured back to alexandria by false promises that he would be able to rule the country in his mother s place and upon his return octavian had him murdered he had been given advice to do so based on a pun on a line in homer too many caesars is not good it is popularly thought he was strangled to death but the exact circumstances of his death and his eventual resting place are lost to history with the death of caesarion the rule of the ptolemaic dynasty and the pharaohs over egypt officially came to an end not today but this is coming how to upset your daughter an agrippa guide and he has no regrets 20 26 lcyalagrippa his biggest fear in his main verse and in au s that come from that is most definitely the dynamic he s discovered his daughter had has with the egyptian queen s bastard son in the main verse where he successfully kills him he is taken aback by her reaction to his death and actually quite horrified by what it means for the relationship he wants to forge with her the ghost of this meaningless boy hangs over him and what she ll do to avenge him is a concern in the au s that come from that where he survives the great fear is them getting involved in any way shape or form but especially in a meaningful way or a way that puts his daughter publicly at his side which is an embarrassment he does not want to face he s comforted by his own belief that someone as pompous and arrogant as the false caesar wouldn t marry a slave s daughter slave herself but the concern is still there thank you to the lovey follower who im d the question headcanon agrippa prxestess 1 lcyalagrippa reblogged prxestess prxestess lcyalagrippa taking it for gospel she ll name her future son julian is her new favorite thing she s plotting his murder in one verse in bed with caesarion in
