little miss thimble saturday march 9 2013 cooking day with ruby a couple of weekends ago my friend ruby and i had a cooking day check out what we made jaffa woopie pies mini chocolate eclairs and tripple choc hazelnut cookies we aslo made mini peanut butter cheese cakes chocolate mousse chocolate crackles with m m s and crunchies and french toast for breakfast the next day we spent about 6 hours in the kitchen without breaks t t f n l m thimble posted by maxy at 11 21 am no comments crazy animal lady since i made em s sock monkey for her birthday i have become addicted to making sock monkeys or so i thought then mum bought me these new sock animal books now i am thoroughly addicted so far i have made the cheshire cat a lochness monster a hippo and a babby rabbit i have 9 little sock monkey for my friend emily s birthday here she is i went a little crazy and made it a denim jacket and a hat i didn t even have a pattern for them i also made a baby monkey for emily s little sister i was very happy with how they turned out and em loved them too she said that her sister wouldn t put it down and had to sleep with her that night t t f n l m thimble posted by maxy at 6 16 pm no comments saturday february 9 2013 found them back in this post i mentioned the novely cake i made for the local show but couldn t find the pictures of well yesterday mum found them i m so pleased they turned up and my 1st place scones too ttfn lm thimble posted by maxy at 11 11 am no comments labels cooking thursday december 6 2012 yummy risotto i made this delicious risotto for dinner recently it was soooo good i adapted it from another risotto recipe mum had ingredients 1 5 litres 6 cups chicken stock 500g butternut or jap pumpkin cut into 2cm pieces 1 tbsp olive oil 2 smoked chorizo 340g halved lengthways 10g butter 1 small brown onion chopped finely 1 clove garlic crushed 1 1 2 cups arborio rice 1 tsp ground cumin 1 2 cup 40g finely grated parmesan cheese handful of baby spinach leaves preheat oven to 220 oc bring stock to boil in medium saucepan reduce heat and simmer covered combine pumpkin with oil on oven tray and roast for about 25 minutes or until tender meanwhile cook chorizo in heated pan until browned and slice thinly melt butter in same pan cook onion and garlic stirring until onion softens add rice and cumin stir to coat in onion mixture stir in 1 cup of simmering stock cook stirring over low heat until liquid is absorbed continue adding stock in 1 cup batches stirring until absorbed after each addition total cooking time should be about 35 minutes or until rice is tender stir in pumpkin chorizo cheese and spinach and serve immediately ttfn lm thimble posted by maxy at 11 54 am no comments monday october 1 2012 local show i entered all my recent sewing in the local show last month and was pleased to place first in all the sections i entered this pic shows some of my entries as well as my brother s he also did very well i also did very well with my cooking 1 unbaked slice first place 2 anzacs second place 3 scones first place 4 chocolate cake second place 5 pikelets second place 6 novelty cake first place and i took home the overall age champion ribbon yay me the novelty cake i made was in the shape of a giant cupcake and i m so disappointed that the photo of it seems to have disappeared off mum s camera as it was my own
