two l s and a j two l s and a j wednesday june 22 2011 harry as in herriman that s my new nickname for the town we live in have you ever known anyone with the name harry the only person i know with the name harry is harry potter and he is full of magic mysticalness and everyone loves him you could say the same about herriman ut there is something about this town that brings joy and wonder to all that live here maybe it is the fact that it is located on the skirt of daybreak a massive pre planned community that is known throughout the whole u s as my mom tells me maybe it is the fact that at the local shop area called soda row they have jazz bands a splash pad and san gelato cafe where you can receive the tasty treat of gelato accompanied by friends and music maybe it is the fact that it is still a booming community with a small town feeling but either way it is growing on me when trying to search out a town to relocate our little family we knew we wanted two things a safe community and lots of outdoor space to romp around in when i came across herriman we struggled with the thought that it might be too far from slc where luke s new job is and that we were going to have to commute everywhere so i searched murray bountiful sugarhouse sandy cottonwood heights even downtown slc we just could not feel good about taking our po dunk raised family to the highly populated overly industrialized areas my mind kept coming back to herriman with a little convincing of the husband that it wouldn t be that far of a commute and that time was running out for us in the housing dept he agreed to take on this brave move to a far away land everything seemed to fall into place with the housing we received the first month free which is what we wanted with a new pay schedule and the development was only a year old it is also a nice perk to be closer to my parents and to connect with people i haven t seen in years the move has been a challenge emotionally i will not deny that i have learned through this that i do not do well with huge changes but i am trying to let all my expectations slip away so i can enjoy these new beginnings and opportunities our new church ward was overwhelmingly friendly and we already have playdates arranged my new location of texas roadhouse loves me and i feel very appreciated the people there remind of those i worked with back in colorado and i am remembering how to accept and love those with different views and opinions it is a challenge after living in a small town for 5 years where everyone thinks the same and shares the same religion jace didn t have a stuggle with the change at all he loves the new apartment with it s long hall to run down and the four flights of stairs to climb to get there we take him often to the oquirrh lake in daybreak and the splash pad which develops into him saying water every 5 minutes luke loves his new job and they love him too they are very impressed with his strong work ethic and they listen to his opinions and desires to help the company grow he feels very appreciated i couldn t ask for more for this deserving man we have received many blessings and i feel it is because we have made the right decisions for our family growing learning and progressing in life are just some of the small steps to acheive our ultimate goals and this jump into the unknown challenges all three in the parking lot a year after dating and fifteen months after being married we welcomed sweet baby jace to our family we live in cache valley for now soakin up the sun in the summers and blowin around the snow in the winters but who knows where the next couple of years will take us life s too short to take the easy way out so watch us as we grow and learn down the long road ahead of us baby
