memory quilt for a client the little name block here on back was a little bag that came with the t shirts it makes the perfect label i ve been juggling over here drying sewing drying jellying sewing some more raisins banana chips jars and jars of something hopefully my grape juice will be jelly when i unscrew those lids and not syrup ah well if it s syrup we ll be eating lots of pancakes not a bought this sweet little pack of charms you know and i know it s dangerous walking into a quilt shop even getting near a quilt shop can be hazardous to your pocket book these little packs don t cost too much and they always get me going on a new scrappy quilt so if i m going to buy something it s usually one of these sweet little lovelies i m adding 2 squares from the scrap drawer and some white finding out that not all my 2 scrappy squares are 2 some are 2 1 4 easy to fix that one as long as i fix before sewing it up after it s all sewn up it s not so easy lol posted by beth at 2 22 pm no wednesday july 24 2013 wednesday it s been a busy one my friend came over to try out weaving i think i may have an enthusiastic new weaver yeah while she was learning i was making t shirt yarn using up all the leftovers from the quilt i m working on i m piecing precious memories together i needed to run out and buy some more interfacing i always run out when making these t shirt quilts this time i bought the whole bolt 1 2 price today that was an unexpected treat these guys hang right outside my kitchen window tons and tons of grapes my husband s two vines are outdoing themselves this year i pondered what to do with them all finally decided to buy a food dehydrator a brand new adventure it arrived today we ll see if these little grapes turn into yummy raisins by tomorrow you can see i ve to facebook share to pinterest labels dehydrator grapes raisins t shirt quilt weaving monday july 22 2013 summertime summertime is always full of tomatoes at my house it s a trick figuring out what i m going to use them in tonight i enjoyed bruschetta chicken yum yum i substituted fresh tomatoes for the canned plus some water and added zucchini zucchini is added to everything this time of year i actually think this recipe would be great without the chicken just add a bunch of vegetables my meal was complete with some melon gotta love summertime meals i also did some painting on the patio another fun summertime activity i painted a simple still life on some old white fabric when was the last time you sketched a picture on fabric wonder what it will look like quilted oh the fun never modern line i made another bag you make one and then you just can t stop kind of like potato chips i began with the florals when i added the bright lines it sort of updated the whole thing it s nice and roomy even has a special place for your water bottle bag making is just plain fun i never use a pattern i always let the fabrics dictate the size i always enjoy using the fun pieces of fabrics facebook share to pinterest labels bag etsy scraps friday july 19 2013 a quilt for education i finished my african quilt last night i love all the color in this one that sky blue really sings doesn t it believe it or not i had that tie dyed border in my stash you could say i have a big stash since there wasn t quite enough of that pretty blue backing i was able to make a block and piece it in ooooh i love it this quilt is all ready to be used for a fundraiser not sure yet how i m going to go about it but i m ready any ideas about online fundraising would be appreciated thanks to elaine i found a fundraising site here it is this is erika my house guest this week she s going back to africa to open a school for the local children there i m excited to be able to help she helped me by orphan blocks monday july 15 2013 lost i m still stitching away on my little take along project but i had a very sad event i lost one of the finished blocks there were 5 pre printed squares and now there are only four the one i lost was finished too ugh i was so sad when i realized one was missing i really think it dropped out or was left on the chair in the waiting room at my daughter s eye doctor i ve called twice to see if it turned up no luck would someone take it i m still hopeful it will show up if it doesn t i have a plan if i can find some white cotton that matches i ll be drawing the pattern with washable blue marker using a finished one as my guide lots of work but worth it i already have the quilt worked out sort of in my head and i need five embroidered squares no less this week rescuing orphan blocks from a lonely life in the drawer i started with this very large orphan block measuring 31 x32 much bigger than an orphan block but not big enough for a quilt this was sent to me along with other various orphans what was i going to do with this big beginning of a quilt i found this mustard colored sheet at the thrift store i added squares from my square drawers different sizes pieced into the mustard sheet i like the different sized squares and i love the fun of finding those colors already cut and ready to go in my drawers there were also some other orphans that got to be included into this quilt i didn t know what to do with those two black lines in the middle there i m adding some applique squares to break it up a bit i might be done with this quilt top or i might add another border today though i need to get ready for house guests they ll be in my sewing room eeek one guest is a missionary from africa this quilt kind of goes with the theme of my 2013 the end is in sight my thursday mornings are paying off i ve spent the last few thursday mornings working on this long slow project it helps to have friends sitting around the table working on their own things as i stitch this one is for my daughter and son in law a wedding gift the wedding is only a memory now seven more petals to go maybe i ll even get it done before next thursday morning
