marlena not made one of these twisted easels before but boy are they fun and easy to do today i have used hippy chick another fab simply sassy stamp by sugar nellie she is coloured with copic sketch markers touched up with shimmer paints shame you can t see that very well on the photo pp are basic grey porcelain and mme used ms border punch and build up the flowers topped with buttons the bling swirls are from prima here is a side view of the fold i forgot to take a pic folded flat but it just lifts up and drops ontop of the inside panel my card fits in with the following challenges colour create lemon green and white dutch dare challenges buttons if you would like to try a fold like this you can find a great little tutorial here thanks so much for looking and any comments you might leave hugs marlene x 14 comments tags simply sassy sugar nellie twisted easel posted in challenges shaped cards february 2 2011 circle side step template by marlena this is the template i made for the circle side step card based on the conventional step fold that can be found all over the internet there were too many instructions to put on the template so have marked them with numbers and will get to them in the instructions below start with a approx 7 5 circle i used the largest grand nestie die but you could use a plate or similar to get your circle 1 make a cut line about 2 1 2 in from the side starting at 2 1 4 and finish at 5 3 4 make sure you keep your circle straight 3 score a straight line from the finish cut to the outside then a second score line 3 4 next to the first 4 fold 1st line in 2nd line up and make sure the layers are folded straight with the cut line it should look like this next we have to find the centre of the whole circle and the easiest way to do this is to fold the whole 7 5 circle in half lining up ontop of each other but don t fold flat just yet 5 pinch both edges of large panel to make the centre fold line then open up the circle score from and to the pinched points and fold you can now cortentina fold the second step by folding down and up 1 more time again making sure you line up the edges with the previous folds it should now look like this next step is optional if you like the sticky out bits you can leave it as is or you can turn your card over and cut away the excess with scissors your card base is now ready for you to decorate how you wish little tip speaking from experience practice with copy paper first you don t want to waste your cardstock for my card i cut a scalloped circle and cut a strip to fit my card front added embossed paper and stuck my image partly overlapping the step and top of the card attached the sentiment to the last step then decorated with lots of flowers bling and candy drops to finish hope this is helpful to some of you and any questions just shout marlene x 23 comments tags circle step template posted in shaped cards february 1 2011 circle side step by marlena helloo there is a little story to how this card came about as mentioned in my previous post there is a sugar nellie challenge on facebook asking for side step cards in one of the discussions cathy asked if there was a way to have a bigger panel for larger stamps to use so i got to playing with some a4 paper and managed to get a larger template to work template for this supplied at bottom of this post while at work i got to thinking and doodling if it was possible to make a circle step card when i got home i got my large nesties out and after about a thousand tries guess what it worked it s hard to see the steps as i ve covered them with flowers dragonflies but you get the idea to decorate my card i have used a large scalloped strip at the bottom image is party frills from sugar nellie she is such a cutie colored her with copics and nested onto a scalloped circle which is attached half over the fold some of the flowers are from marianne dies dragonfly is a doohicky die and the sentiment is by su i love it when a plan comes together and again thanks cathy for getting me to think outside the box i d like to enter this card in the ptw flower challenge for this week and my time to craft s challenge is flourishes as promised here is the template for the folded a5 step when cut and folded it will look like this let me know if you would like to see the circle template as well have a fabulous evening marlene x 28 go with a paper shoe template that i ve had in my fav s for a while i wanted to make a gift box of some kind and the finished shoe makes an excellent treat box for all kinds of occasions i ve decided to go for a vintage look by printing the template direct onto the back of cream cardstock cut it out and stamped a crackle background all over it then inked all the edges cut out the liner from patterned paper inked edges and stuck to the inside of the shoe fold on all score lines and stick the shoe together with strong adhesive i then got my antique gold glimmer mist and sprayed all over for some extra sparkle to decorate i have used some looped ribbon lace pearls flowers and pins inside the organza sachet are some vintage embellishments i think it looks totally adorable the inspiration thanks go to cindy from skip to my loo she made a fab witch shoe for halloween and provided the template thank you hugs marlene x 27 comments tags paper shoes template treat box posted in distressing january 29 2011 white on white by marlena you don t want to know how hard it was for me not use any other colour but white on my card i ve seen them about in blogland and always thought how gorgeous classy they looked so here is my first wow attempt another first for me was the stair step fold that i seen on pam s lovely blog if you fancy a go her post with the template is here the top of my sidebar for all the details hugs marlene x 31 comments tags bugaboo shaped card posted in challenges copic sketch markers january 28 2011 my altered atg gun by marlena yayyy i m soo excited to show you my new tape gun i m absolutely over the moon with it the ugly yellow atg was going to be white with black and lots of bling but after the hubby incident i had to re think my friend sonia mentioned that nail polish remover might help to smooth some of the scratches it did help heaps then i added silver glitter as the texture would hide most of the scuffs any that were still visable i would try and cover with rub ons and gems thankfully this idea worked a treat and hubby is forgiven for now front isn t it gorgeously blingy after the white and sparkle coats i ve added my name and lots of swirl rub ons that i had for absolute ages tlc then added sticky pearls gems around my name flower centers and base back flipped the gun over and carried on decorating because of the texture of the clear lid the rub ons don t stick to this part at all so i got my big prima bling swirls out and used some bling to spell the word create once i was happy with all the embellies i sprayed the whole thing with fast dry clear enamel this really gives a fabulous shine to everything plus it is also an extra adhesive for all the embellishments click the pic below to see a close up of the glittery clear lid and eventho it is decorated i m still able to see through how much tape i ve got left quick run through of the materials i used to alter plasti kote white plasti kote glitter silver plasti kote clear enamel masking tape sandpaper embellishments and a little of imagination it s funny it took me over a year to finally get my act together and get to altering my atg gun i am now looking around my craft space thinking what object is gonna be my next victim lol hugs marlene x 30 comments tags altered items glue gun posted in altered items january 27 2011 sugar bowl 52 love by marlena good morning and welcome to a brand spanking new challenge from the sugar bowl maria therese has provided the lovely sketch for you all to use and the optional theme is love once again there is a fabulous prize up for grabs a pic mix of 6 sugar nellie stamps of your choice and what with some fabby new ones in stock you ll be spoilt for choice but wait for it there are going to be 2 winners this fortnight 6 stamps each on to my card i finally got around to inking up this yummie stamp worried and stamped him in brown onto water colour paper took a waterbrush and smudged some of the lines of the image i then scored vertical lines all over the image and inked the edges with distress inks the other background papers i also made myself by using the embossed white papers by su sponged distress inks all over this really makes the embossed patterns stand out huge silk bow threaded through the image finishes off the card a treat as always please visit the blog for all the details and gain lots of inspiration from my dt sweeties on another note i ve decided to alter my atg yesterday i took the tape wheels off and covered up the bit s i didn t want painting with masking tape then sprayed on the first layer with plastic compatible paint looking gooood i wanted to do 3 coats and had to wait an hour between each one then 24 hrs for the last coat to totally set talk about watching paint dry when the 3rd coat was on i quickly nipped out to take lolly to brownies and when i got back hubby only decided to have a clean up and chucked the whole caboodle to one side ready to be skipped needless to say all the tacky paint was scoffed scratched tell you i was about to kill him will have to wait till this evening sand down as much as i can and start again with
