the ryan family skip to main skip to sidebar the ryan family monday june 13 2011 rob s wedding we had such a great time in arizona last weekend for my youngest brother rob s wedding and it was so fun to see my whole family click on pictures to enlarge grandma ryan helped the kids slice strawberries and then taught them how to make homemade strawberry ice cream which abby absolutely loved and which we ate with steph s birthday cake then marc showed us his trick spins we had a brazilian style bbq bachelor party for rob with his friends from stanford and brazil marc loved teaching abby how to play the drums very loudly rob and hannah s wedding ceremony was beautiful and hannah was a gorgeous bride my parents loved spending time with the grandkids tess and abby looked beautiful as always the kids loved the reception mostly because of the fountains and the food luckily marc did not jump is like he usually does as you can see from several other posts on this blog abby adorably and inexplicably did snow angels in the grass and marc chased his cousins around abby loved holding and smelling the flowers especially because they were pink it was so fun to see dave jill and andrew rebekah and their kids and rob and hannah make such a cute couple the kids were sad when it was finally time to come home but when they learned that you can drink orange juice through licorice they suddenly didn t mind getting on the plane posted by marcus 3 comments grandpa critt steph s dad who was in town for a wedding took the kids down to the fountain in our neighborhood as always it started off with marc dodging the fountain and trying to not get wet and as always marc soon decided it s more fun to get totally soaked even with his baseball uniform on abby had the good sense to stay dry on such a windy day then we took marc over to the bridge to dry off it was great to have you here gary posted by marcus 0 comments hill country we re way behind on posting but several months ago we took a quick but really fun trip to the hill country the resort was so kid friendly and had the best service we highly recommend it the highlight for marc and abby was this guy who played songs in the restaurant while the kids drank their milk he played several songs they recognized and even dedicated the toy story theme to marc who then treated a very large crowd to several minutes of some pretty crazy dancing which received a lot of applause the pga holds the valero texas open at the resort s golf course so we got to see pictures of all the winners going back to 1922 which is a very impressive list including walter hagen byron nelson sam snead arnold palmer and ben crenshaw it was a great trip i m always amazed at how eager marc and abby are to jump in the water even when it s so and appreciate what a wonderful mother she is tonight i was reading some very insightful quotes some famous and some not so famous on motherhood abraham lincoln ambrose bierce george washington gordon b hinckley immanuel kant william ross wallace david o mckay henry wadsworth longfellow honore de balzac sophia loren thomas s monson aristotle emily dickinson jeffrey r holland victor hugo and so many others such a diverse group but with one thing in common deep insight into and appreciation for motherhood tess is the most wonderful mother and i truly appreciate and admire everything that she does for our children and for me after reading hundreds of quotes on motherhood by men and women i admire greatly i can honestly say that as much as anyone in the world tess embodies them all but for all of the deep philosophical and poetic things i read about motherhood today and i would encourage you all to do the same perhaps the one that rings most true is this simple gem from one of tess s favorite shows the golden girls it s not easy being a mother if it were easy fathers would do it thanks tess for being the best mother and wife the kids and i could ever hope for and for doing so much
