skip to main skip to sidebar matt and camie s family news monday january 23 2023 tyson takes 3rd place our ward had their pinewood derby two weeks ago tyson designed sanded and painted his car all by himself matt went over to a friend of ours and cut it out for him after tyson decided how he wanted it to look and then handed tyson some sand paper and let him go to town ty even painted it all on his own he even painted a pair of his school pants in the process thank goodness it is the end of the year hehe anywho there were quite a few fancy cars but ty s little plain car ended up taking 3rd place he was so excited in his quiet way lol it was cute to have him come up and say mom i took first and second in all my races so far and now i am going on to the last one hehe i was impressed with this ward too because the parent s didn t get all nuts and the kids stayed pretty calm too there were a lot of fun cars including one that was made to look like cheese and even one with blinking lights lol anywho here he is the proud little 3rd placer and his car the leaders named the red wedgie lol matt had a hard time getting a picture of him actually putting his car on the track because there were alot of kids and he had a tendancy to just put it on there and walk away hehe silly kid posted by matt n camie family at 9 59 pm 3 comments saturday january 16 2010 our vacation drama it wouldn t be a shepherd vacation without some drama now would it lol matt took the boys sledding up hobble creek canyon yesterday for the start of what we hoped would be a fun and enjoyable beginning to the vacation brittany and i weren t really in the mood for sledding so we stayed behind to do some crafting the day began with them sledding for a good twenty minutes or so and then the sled racing began dillan jumped the gun a little bit but matt and cory followed in quick pursuit everything was going well until closer to the bottom when dillan started to go up a small berm cory was coming up fast and couldn t quite make it around him so instead of just plowing into him he tried to grab dillan off of his sled and roll to try and prevent injuries it didn t work quite that well somehow in the process of all of this dillan s foot got caught and twisted completely backwards dillan said he could see his heal in front of him where toes should be yuck dillan only cried for a couple of minutes and then proceeded to chew cory out poor cory his telling off went something like this cory you broke my leg you jerk why did you do that etc matt seeing that dillan wasn t getting up went to check on him and could tell immediately that something was wrong so they packed up and began the long trek to alpine pediatrics in pleasant grove i got a call and knew something was wrong because matt doesn t usually call me for much when they are out playing i called my dad to ask if he would bring oil and meet them all at the doctors office so they could give him a blessing and then we left to meet them too britt and i got to the pediatricians office just as they began to cut off his snow pants and his regular pants dillan is one tough kid he only whimpered a little tiny bit but the tears were running down his face like crazy i admit quite a few fell down my own anywho the doctor got it splinted and sent us to american fork hospital for x rays dillan did really well there too here he is waiting to go in for x rays still smiling for me even when we had to remove the splint for the x rays he just whimpered a tiny bit again it turns out he broke both bones in his left leg the smaller of the two shattered a little at the top the bigger one just kinda broke in two sorry i am not a speciallist in the bone field so i can t remember what they are called i do know that all the nurses and doctors were calling it a tibfib fracture once the radiologist had read the films we got a call from our pediatrician who had called an orthopedic surgeon and were told to go on over to the er and get checked in because he would have to be the one to set the bones so we continued our adventure in the er the staff was amazing and absolutely the best so caring and careful and explained everything very carefully to him and matt myself and grandpa rock they started an iv and then waited for the dr rickie to arrive when he arrived they got the procedure underway he started whimpering and trying to move during one part that broke my heart and i cried right along with him which also made grandpa cry hehe but he doesn t remember anything at all thank goodness after it was all said and done we were finally after almost 4 hours able to head to grandma rock s for a wonderful bowl of soup that aunt danica made for us all it was a nice way to end a horrible day he is quite the trooper and hasn t complained much at all last night he even got up and to the bathroom all by himself i was so proud i tried and tried to upload pictures individually throughout my post but couldn t get it to work for me so i added a slide at the end with all the images posted by matt n camie family at 12 24 pm 6 comments tuesday september 29 2009 kanosh camping trip and meadow hot pots we went this last weekend on a quick camping trip up to fish lake national forest we started the trip with everything going great got in and set up quickly and ate dinner didn t get to ride the first day but that was fine i kept the night talking to a minimum or at least didn t hear it this time by putting in ear plugs and it s my understanding cory didn t talk very much that first night but did a lot of snoring lol second day we went on a super fun ride up the paiute trail it was nice and flat and is kept well maintained so it was a nice easy ride in the afternoon we went to meadow and swam in the hot pots they have there it was very cool the first one we visited was really yucky with all manner of funk floating in the water so i stayed out and took pics the second one however was awesome clean gorgeous and warm loved it dillan had a blast cannon balling into it too there were areas that weren t real deep and others that were so deep you couldn t see the bottom if you ever go that way it s definitely worth the stop that night matt decided to take the kids on a night ride well let me clarify he did not want to take the younger two with them because it was dark and they don t have the best headlights on their machines but after much whining and crying and against his better judgement he took all the kids dillan didn t want to drive his 4 wheeler so he rode with cory on mine because i was ready to get the dirt off of me and didn t want to go anywho beside the point just giving the background as to how they ended up going so they went up a trail above our camp that we had been seeing people drive up all day long to check it out before i start this little tale a small disclaimer tyson is fine so they are driving along and it s another well maintained trail until they get to a certain point where there is a big rock they had to drive over and the trail narrowed quite a bit on one side there was a steep cliff at least 30 feet down and the other was the rock so matt is in front as the guide britt behind him followed by tyson and then lastly cory and dillan on my machine matt and britt safely navigate the rock and get around and up the trail and stop to make sure tyson and cory get over it they see tyson pull up stop and then turn and drive off the cliff matt says a few choice words and drops his bike and runs britt dumps the clutch on her machine and jumps and runs as well cory who was behind him yelled a few choice words and bails his machine after making sure dillan is good seriously can t blame either matt or cory at this point they can hear tyson screaming seriously loud and matt said his first thought was well he s alive at least he also said all he could see is the 4 wheeler flipping and flying down the cliff and could see the lights as it rotated through the air so matt goes to jump down the cliff after ty and cory my 4 wheeler was shining light for him shuts my machine off and so matt now blind falls down and smashes into a huge boulder with his hip so he yells for cory to turn the lights back on and starts heading down the cliff yelling tyson tyson about then tyson comes hiking up and says what like nothing in the world just happened lol matt asked him if he was o k and he said yeah but my tummy hurts can t imagine why hehe so none of us know how he managed to get away and off of the machine since they all saw him go down on it but he did somehow he doesn t remember at all and doesn t even remember screaming so we will probably never know the front of his helmet was cracked and there was a scrape up the side of it but not one scratch on him the 4 wheeler had something smashed on every side so i am very grateful for a watchful heavenly father who i think knows i would most likely not survive something horrible happening to my kids we asked him why he drove off it and he said he thought that was where the trail went anywho it took cory britt and matt at least an hour to get it back out from where it fell it took every tie down we owned hooked together that night i wore earplugs again so i could sleep but matt said cory was swearing and yelling all night hmmm wonder what he was dreaming about probably the same things i was dreaming matt spent a few minutes the next day putting things back together the best he could he is seriously amazing he is and it was still driveable also nuts we went on one last ride up the same safe trail hehe that we went the day before and had a blast neither of the two little boys wanted to drive anymore but i a mean mom for sure made them because i did not want them to be scared every time we go riding in the future lesson learned no night driving with the little four wheelers all in all a fun and yet somewhat traumatic trip here are the pics i had a camera this time crash thursday september 10 2009 white river camping trip this was the first time in a while that we went camping with just our little family we went up spanish fork canyon to white river it was perfect weather for camping just cold enough there were no bugs which if you know me you know there are two things i hate bugs and dirt we always bring lots of water so i can indulge my washing freak outs to get rid of the dirt so it doesn t bother me when we camp lol anywho it rained just a teeny tiny bit but it was just enough to keep most of the dust down when we were riding so that was perfect too there is a little section close to the road that the kids refer to as the hills where much to my hearts dislike there was a little jump the kids were catching a little air off of i don t think i will ever like the jumping that is bound to occur with kids on machines tyson was the only one who didn t jump off of it thank goodness i have at least one who likes to keep things on the safe side lol dillan s machine wasn t working just right so the poor kid ended up riding with dad alot which he loved and i was glad too because it isn t always as fun when you can t drive your own machine matt figured out later that there was a short in one of the wires and it was making the kill switch think it was pushed if that makes sense britt had a blister on one of her hands so she rode with me part of the time which cory loved because that meant he could ride her four wheeler instead of his bike it takes a little less energy and skill to ride i guess you could say it s a lazier way to ride which suits me just fine lol cory did say his bike hasn t ever run as good as it did up there though our camping spot was the most perfect spot i think we have ever camped in just the right amount of tree cover to keep things comfortable when the sun was shining and plenty of places to hang things from the trees the kids also found a huge pine tree that had a clubhouse of sorts under all the branches and had a blast playing under it we saw a chipmunk or as our family calls them chickmunks that we thought was choking on a plastic bag from wal mart but it turns out he was just trying to shove it into his cheeks it was the funniest thing i ever saw well funny once we decided he wasn t choking on it we kept hearing this loud rustling in the bushes and decided to investigate and he was so involved in trying to pack the bag in his cheeks he actually let us get just a few feet away before he finally abandoned the bag and ran for it sorry didn t get any pictures of it though we always have eventful nights when we are all in the trailer cory and i both it seems talk in our sleep i only occasionally cory however is the noisiest sleeper i have ever heard if he isn t talking he sounds like he is over there chewing and eating something lol so the second night cory woke us up at about 2 a m when he yelled that s creepin me out britt then later that night about 4 a m i was having a dream and i don t remember everything in my dream but i do remember there was a hippo in a lake and it started chewing and making the same noises cory does in his sleep so i started laughing in my dream and come to find out it wasn t silent laughter i woke myself up i was laughing so hard i even had tears streaming down my face and was shaking the air mattress poor matthew so i apoligized to everyone who soon joined me in the laughing and had to leave the trailer so i could get control of myself it took me a good 20 minutes at least lol anywho yaaay for an awesome camping trip i didn t take a ton of pictures i was having too much fun riding and playing but here are the few i did take enjoy oh and btw i now know why i haven t been able to upload pics well at least i think i know lol jean bags finally i hope this one works i wanted to load all the pics not in a slide show but can t get it to work and the slide has taken about an hour to load so i am just gonna take what i can get lol britt and i looked and looked for a cute messenger bag for her this year and couldn t find anything we both liked so i said we can make one and here are the results the first one with red lining
