from a 28inch gore geous ghoul doll he s definitely a hodge podge of different things but i m really happy how it all came together it was my first time customising a doll made from filament but i think it works since he s a rough and tumble gargoyle that the texture works into his favour i did debate on making him his uniform but i rather enjoy having casual looks for my signature mh collection so i opted to give him ken jeans alongside this custom tank top i made from this distressed fabric and a set of shadow high boy shoes to tie it all together i really like friday night lot of my collecting life has been very pronounced for me so i do treasure the few times we do get an explicitly asian character i am happy to finally have euna with kiyomi and jinafire and it s nice to imagine in an alternative 2016 where the crossover movie comes out 14 45 merimari reblogged 22h dolljunk 6d follow i ve spent so long poring over concept art watching the butchered lost movie clips on youtube and looking up different things for euna that it feels surreal to me to finally finish her the clearest images of euna s design is actually her movie design which has a more adventurous look and turning her design to a tunic and her wearing leggings while the doll esque art of her is pretty tiny and hard to read from what i could see though while they did pay homage to euna being korean it definitely had that mid 2010s flair of modern wear and the budget cutting so i mainly took inspiration from the use of colour and seeing what inspired her design myself since ever after high took a lot of inspiration from late 2000s lolita fashion i also wanted euna to draw a bit more from that well by making her outfit a bit more of a hanbok design filtered through that aesthetic from what i can tell euna wanted to live a more fairytale life and is why she got herself in a big predictament so i wanted to lean into the dreamy fairytale aesthetics for her outfit since i can t exactly replicate the 3d sculpted pieces and such her outfit consists of a high collar sleeveless dress and a hanbok jacket and while i couldn t replicate the design of her outfit adding a lace overlay really gives it a bit of depth i feel like her norigae was just a heart bead that i did a custom knot on and used thread for the tassels but i do like the pop of colour it adds to her look her nine tails were just tubes of fake fur but i know if she had been a real doll they would have been sculpted and plugged in i also wanted to capture her hairstyle but i really like the face framing bangs more as they cover up her ear seams and i think makes her look more royal 28 59 merimari reblogged 22h dolljunk 6d follow my roman empire has always been the unreleased crossover between ever after high and monster high not only because it was something that had been building up since the 13 wishes movie and that the cancellation lines up with both franchises getting rebooted but i also feel like if it had released it would have been a proper sendoff for the characters i grew to love instead it remains this mystery and it s always tied to both eah and mh losing their heart it s always hard to marathon both and have their end points fizzle out to dud movies or specials one of the reasons i was really sad was that it would have been introduced another asian character for both franchises euna the korean kumiho but instead eah still lacks asian representation and monster high g1 remains to only have 2 or 3 asian characters in general one of the biggest issues that stopped me from working on this custom was the fact her design confused me about how her ears attached since her fur details extend far below her hair line it took me finding euna s 3d model sheets being uploaded to find out that her ears are a lot larger than a regular mh doll ears and that the sideburns i saw in her storyboards and art design was actually attached to her ears not the side of her face c10 patreonusercontent com i assume if she had reached production her ears would have been sculpted separately and glued in to her sides rather than be sculpted into the head and rooted around i sculpted my ears out of white milliput on wire amatures and it took a lot of refinement to get them to look how i wanted the one thing i really liked about the 3d films from monster high is that they often model new characters on prototypes of the dolls rather than the final product so you can often tease out small details about the dolls that get lost to time the biggest one is scarah s first 3d appearance using the frankie head and her prototype jacket that never got made so i based a lot of the base work on the 3d model seen for euna the reason why i used a create a monster skeleton head is the fact it looks distinct to catrine spectra and cupid s heads and if she is to be in my lineup of signature characters i feel like her more gaunt face and jawline works for a fox spirit as for the eyes i actually leaned into ever after high s style of paint rather than monster high since there s more emphasis on iris lines and lash detail overally i am really happy she turned out especially
