overwhelmed with gratitude to be your mother this last year of watching you learn and grow has been so much fun from the day you were born i knew you were special you have such a sweet and caring countenance i look forward to watching your personality develop even more just within the last week you have given us glimpses into your fun and rambunctious character now that you can walk i think it has given you freedom to express yourself more i love watching you toddle around peeking into everything and touching everything you can get your big bear paws on you have also started to sing and dance to music and the second i put you on your birthday giraffe you started rocking back and forth all by yourself i can t wait to share more memories and go on more fun adventures with you this year here are your traveling stats for your first year of life you ve been to 4 states texas new mexico utah and colorado you ve been to 2 other countries cayman islands and mexico you ve been camping 2 times hiking 10 times you ve traveled by car plane bus cruise ship taxi and boat you ve flown 4 times you ve seen the beach the mountains the desert the city the country the forest and the jungle i wonder where we ll go during your second year of life i m so glad you like to travel just as much as we do here are some facts about you at one year old you take one morning nap and one afternoon nap you go to bed around 8pm and get up around 8am waking up every 3 hours to eat you still really love breastfeeding and eat about every 3 hours your favorite solid foods are bits of banana avocado cooked carrots and rice puffs but don t eat more than 5 10 bites i ve only sat you on the potty once and you sat there for 0 05 seconds before getting up you wear cloth diapers maybe 25 of the time because you only stay still long enough for me to fasten the cloth diaper 25 of the time i ve gotten very good at putting on your disposables while your standing you love bath time and will run to the bathroom when i shout bath time then you turn on the hot water for me and dance at the tub until i get there you ve really started to love books and will look and point to pictures as i read to you you say mama dada and point at the dogs when i say dog your two eye teeth just came in so now you have 6 teeth very sharp ones i might add you went through a biting stage hopefully you re over that for both annabelle s and my sake you know when you re doing something you shouldn t be doing and you get a little mischievous twinkle in your eye while you do it you love holding onto your muslin blanket while you nurse and sleep but aren t attached to it at any other time you don t like it when i leave you alone with someone else unless it s daddy or uncle drew you will cry and cry and not stop you love your sister very much and will follow her around playing with whatever she s playing with you guys especially like to wrestle well i should say she loves to lay on you and smash you into the ground or bed you think it s great fun and laugh and squeal until it starts to hurt i play the referee bouncer pretty much all day long you bring everyone around you so much joy and laughter thank april 22 2013 52 weeks 12 months tuesday was a momentous day you finally decided to let go of my finger and walk on your own yay for my big boy you get better and steadier every day i m so proud of you this was quite the mess but you two had a great time playing in the mud together on friday our whole family went out to eat chinese to celebrate your birthday this is the same restaurant where i first went into labor on the night you were born i think chinese food on your birthday will have to be a tradition neesa is the owner of the restaurant here that has traditional asian cuisine made for us whenever we go it s so delicious you and annabelle ran up and down the hallway while we finished up dinner time for a haircut your daddy didn t want to cut your hair until you were a year old so here we are it was sad to see your silky long hair go i have loved running my hands though it while you nursed but i absolutely love your new haircut you look like such a little boy now happy 12 around on the play equipment up and down stairs over bridges through tunnels and down slides whew it s a good workout because where ever you go you take me with you leading me by the hand you re not ready to let go of my finger yet so even around the house you pull me along where ever you want to go look at my handsome big boy you re still not eating too much solid food and when you do you prefer little bits of whatever i m eating no pureed baby food for you you just won t have it you re so funny you love drinking water from a straw and you enjoy the little rice puffs that dissolve in your mouth so at least i can keep you somewhat occupied while at church daddy loves playing trains with you annabelle however doesn t appreciate the way you play she likes building the tracks you love destroying them she loves pulling the trains along the tracks you love pulling them off most of the time you do it just to see her reaction that s what little brothers do best i guess you are definitely becoming more of a little rascal you also love to tease me whenever you can one of your favorite games is to pretend like you are going to dive off the end of our bed you plow your head weeks we re home in texas again and the spring weather is gorgeous we have spent everyday going for walks and playing at the park you love crawling though the tunnel swinging on the swings and going down the slide with my help uncle drew missed you so much while we were gone in utah for a month your whole face lit up and you went right to him when you saw him again so it s safe to say you missed chasing game where they ran away screaming as you and i ran after them they ran into the corner of the fence and hid their faces giggling and waited til you and i got there you would laugh and roar until we got right behind their backs then you nuzzled your face into them we all laughed and then they would run back and hide in the playhouse as fast as they could so cute the sandbox got all put together this became your favorite hang out while we were inside your favorite hangout was this cardboard box lol this was the kitty s box and those are the kitty s toys you also liked to play with you loved playing in the box so much that granellen got you your own box we had fun dying the easter eggs with beets blueberries turmeric and red cabbage you also learned how to blow kisses this week waiting for you in the playroom it had real grass growing in it and special prizes a bunny book a cute stuffed bunny and a rubber froggy you loved the easter egg hunt you were pretty forceful when throwing your eggs in the basket after the egg hunt we spent easter sunday up in the mountains enjoying god s creations we went on a 5 mile hike up in american fork canyon the snow was so pretty and we had one nice day this week and we made sure to play outside until we get the real sandbox put together granellen made this one for you to play in one cold day we went to the mall and had the most fun playing in the mother s lounge you guys ran all over the room bouncing off the cushions and making music it was a great place to let your energy without disturbing anyone on another cold day we had so much fun at the living aquarium you loved pointing at the big fish that swam by we spent the most time watching the river otters play you spent the most time climbing on anything you could you
