unning isn t it to think that i hadn t thought of it before now yet when we become so bogged down with the trivial day to day life trials and tribulations we somehow lose sight of what we re here for and how we only have this present moment in which to be as we re meant to be as a mid life woman oh my goodness i ve endured at least 15 surgeries as a breast cancer survivor and open heart surgery survivor i ve had my share of health issues but at this age who hasn t as my father used to say none of us are getting out of here alive but what we do with our time here counts at least it counts when it comes to those with whom we connect all those woulda shoulda coulda s are being released these days for me allowing what is in the present moment has a peaceful feel to it but it can get too comfy for some of us it s as if we just exist here we go about our business doing what we are supposed to do and being who we are supposed to be and never taking the time to explore what we may want and how we may desire our lives to expand because believe me mid life women aren t quietly wanting to disappear into old age so what does this mean i m not yet sure but i will say that i know in my heart of hearts that settling for existing isn t an option any longer i don t have to set the world afire but aging before it s my time going quietly into the night isn t feeling right either there s a quietness about those who are survivors in whatever capacity you are surviving it doesn t have to be from cancer or heart issues either it can be as simple as surviving heartbreak financial stressors deep sadness grief the loss of loved ones i could add to the list but you get it right simply put surviving your life to this point is the point there s a time for existence there s a time to allow life to settle in for a bit there s a time to expand those boundaries too the beauty is to recognize where you are and to live knowing you re allowing your life to unfold as your soul contract shares with you so my friends you ve been with me throughout this journey and i believe we ve come to our next chapter let s see what awaits us as we stand open armed to cheer on not settling on existing only but to live with gratitude to quote one of my favorite movies auntie mame the life motto of mame dennis be it good times or bad is live live live life s a banquet and most poor life love mental health writing 1 comment life is full of a ha momentous moments jun 6 have you ever been struck by an a ha moment that feels so momentous that it s almost as if you ve been hit by lightning or seen a falling star it s that mind blowing that you feel your life changed in an instant unbidden it s as if the smoke clears and you can see clearly now the rain has gone to quote a special song close to my heart which by the way i ve heard three times in the last few days after i wrote this post the funny thing is that some people brush past those moments in their hurry to move along in life but in my humble opinion those are the moments that stand out extraordinarily and feel like the pearls in the necklace of life each precious pearl strung along the journey that is each individual s lifetime sometimes our lives co exist sometimes they converge sometimes with peace and love and at others well with the opposite i imagine when my life is no longer there may be some who remember me fondly and others who do not recall me with such affection and still others who may not even recall my existence or with indifference as i am not famous for anything worldly in my own small sphere i can only hope that my presence has made a positive loving dare i hope inspirational impact on those with whom i connected but in the hustle and bustle of life these moments are the presents of presence being in them wide eyed with astonishment always has me stunned silent or blathering like a magpie i long to write them down to do my best to capture the feeling so that i can continue to remember them again and again repetitiously because that pearl of wisdom feels soul sent like being touched by an angel i believe one s mindset has much to do with the frequency of these precious moments and the memory of them once they ve passed we can always choose to remember the good the bad or the indifferent and it is a choice as to what you concentrate on and what how frequently you go down memory lane the good days even dare i remind us that each will have one last good day before our evenutal endings those are the ones i want close to my heart on replay as life continues on for the rest i imagine i sound melancholy but i don t mean to be melodramatic i was just reminded of all of the above and more after watching the movie based on the novel i read the fault in our stars again tonight this movie and novel touched me in so many ways that i don t want to share anything for i wouldn t want to ruin it for anyone else who may have yet to be familiar with story i began this blog many years ago when i was battling cancer myself the blog name the presents of presence came to me unbidden and has stayed with me over the years it s been my inspiration to remember that being present is a gift we share with ourselves and others it s a connection that s key to survival of the soul over the years many dear people in my life have passed on and still they remain as dear to me in this life for our connections were real and the memories of those dearly departed souls remain with me even as i still journey through life on this earth i wish you all the most beautiful weekend wherever you are i ask that you take a moment to just be in that moment and fully feel it hopefully it s a calm one allow yourself to feel and to be with all of your senses sight are relaxing this morning in the shade outside my home i am always astounded by their tame nature in that they are not bothered by my presence i know i may come off as silly but it is so relaxing seeing them lounging outside my home i have so missed being in nature that this is a welcome sight for me in other news i finally saw one bunny while the photo isn t the greatest here s what i captured after months of scanning the field for thumper now to see a fawn bambi that would be such a gift patience i m reminded to be patient it took the birds awhile to realize that the fountain was for their use too now my brain hops to wishing to see one of the deer drinking from it but i m not sure that will happen we shall see how it all unfolds i m just so grateful for these little tidbits of joy in the meantime i was also out on the water yesterday which was a delight i ve missed boating as the calm water always soothes my soul much like nature does are you an out in the country nature person or a boating water person lake river ocean i feel like depending on my mood i can be any and all of them how about you serenity the perfect boating day not many people out and the weather was delightful just enough sun and warmth to stay in a bathing suit yet not too hot to be sweating lol well i think that s enough of catching up and nature photos it was lovely to spend some time with you haven t begun naming them but i do feel as if that will be coming soon when i awoke this morning and opened the drapes there was one happily chomping clover by the patio she he didn t move away but instead just watched me as i wished her him a good morning and then the deer went back to grazing seemingly unfazed by my presence what a lovely way to begin the month of june and yet one more of the beautiful presents of presence counting our blessings is a great way to begin the day as you may know i enjoy mornings and this was a lovely way to start the day and the month i hope your morning was calm happy and full of peace and i wish you all the good luck of course throughout the month of june the bucks come in groups with their velvety antlers beginning to show i guess i ve moved to watching deer considering i have yet to see a bunny here and you know how much i adore them the neighbors don t know why there aren t any bunnies visible here but i can t imagine why not perhaps the deer have taken over but don t you remember bambi and thumper a la disney i thought they were friends well i m still on the lookout for a bunny and you ll be the first to know when thumper arrives i beautiful morning in may now i could be aggravated with being woken up so early on a day i needn t be but that s not my way in fact i found it spreading a smile across my lips with my eyes closed wondering which birds were singing happy tunes to me i am not a bird watcher and i am not familiar with each one s song of choice but the blending was magnificent and i daren t open the curtains lest i disturb them so i laid there just listening until one by one they flew away it s all in how you look at life isn t it are you a glass half full or half empty type or do you think beyond the simplistic have or have not to be grateful for the glass which can be refilled emptied and refilled again that s the question of the day shall i attempt to sing it to you like the birdies this morning i m writing to you as my friends i ve come to grow so many friendships for which i m so grateful your kindness towards me has always lifted my spirits and helped me along the way as life unfolded sometimes within my control but much of the time not in my control i ve lost and loved many relatives along the way friends family and even had a few health battles myself but one thing was for certain i could always write here and remind myself that being present in whatever feelings were happening was a superpower that we all have it s not wallowing in sadness instead it s allowing the feelings to come to the surface to emerge and be felt in order that they don t fester and stay with us for too long forgiveness mercy love and kindness lead the way in healing and there s a moment when practicing presence that arrives when it all makes sense even when it feels nonsensical in that precious moment we move onward and don t allow the hooks of what doesn t align with us to fall away
