rowbury adventures june 19 2015 spartan 2015 my brother and sister asked me to sign up for a spartan race with them a couple months ago i thought it sounded fun but before even checking out what i was signing up for i signed both mitch and i up for the race after we were all signed up we watched a couple of youtube videos and about died they looked super tough so the next week i went and got a gym membership so i could start training and getting in shape cause after having two kids and not working out like ever i figured now would be a good time so i don t die at this race i made it to the gym about 4 times in 4 5 months so my training didn t go over too well i am so lazy i would set my alarm but when my baby would wake up in the middle of the night i would automatically turn off my alarm cause i knew i would be too tired to go excuses excuses i know if anything this race made me realize how not motivated and lazy i am yikes so needless to say my husband and i had zero training for this race mitch said his training was not drinking pop for a week double yikes so we loaded up the car on friday morning and headed to boise we loaded up with delicious food and cheesecake from the cheesecake factory that night and went swimming with cousins then we woke up early saturday morning met up with my brother sister and her husband and drove to payette as we were pulling up all we could notice were these giant mountains with people crawling up them i was absolutely horrified i about peed myself right then and there don t worry i made it to a bathroom i went three times before the race because i was so darn nervous i guess we should have trained for this beast of a race or something well we missed our 11 00 starting time because of my third bathroom break so we ended up starting with the 11 15 group we started by jumping into a huge mud pit climbed over a few large nets and up the mountains we went that was by far the hardest part for me was hiking those steep mountains doing an intense obstacle and then hiking back down there were at least 5 mountains we had to climb up and down and about 20 different obstacles jumping through mud pits climbing under barbed wire in the mud jumping over 6ft walls climbing cargo nets cement block pull hiking a cement ball up and down a hill and doing 5 burpees at the end loading up a bucket of rocks and walking up and down another hill same thing with a giant sand bag hoisting up a 95 pound back with a rope to the top of the bar and lowering it back down without dropping it a rock climbing wall that you couldn t touch the top of two monkey bar type obstacles that included pipes uneven bars and rope swings you had to go through and ring the bell at the end climbing up a slanted wall with a rope going through several mud pits and climbing out of them plunging under muddy water underneath a huge wall a spear throw into the hay a rope climb jumping over fire and ending in a muddy pit whew i m sure there were more in there but that s all i can think of right off the top of my head if you didn t complete the obstacle you had to do 30 burpees the only two i couldn t complete were the spear throw and the rope climb not too bad for not training one bit i d say we all survived and had the best time ever i m pretty sure we ll all be signing up for another one next year and maybe we ll even consider training wanting to do everything on her own like she is 5 years old she is practically running everywhere i can barely keep up with her she is super feisty somewhat demanding she gives the best smiles in the world that melt your heart completely she loves her babies and carries them around all day long snuggling them by her face and patting them on the back she claps her hand when we sing pat a cake she loves the swing at grandma and grandpa s house and also her wagon rides with her grandpa she s started to stand up while she rides and shakes her cute little bum the entire time she loves to dance every time she hears music she flails her arms everywhere and bounces her chubby little legs cutest thing ever she loves to eat gosh this kid can eat she is hungry 24 7 i swear she snacks in between meals plus has 3 meals a day where she out eats everyone in this family and on top of that she still takes bottles guess she has to keep up with her girly figure eh she doesn t like strangers she loves her dad and grandpa the very most even more than mom tear she tries her hardest to keep up with her big sis and laughs at every single thing she does i love watching the two of them together they are already fighting over everything we are in trouble she loves being outside as long as i m not trying to help her over our dirt hills she of course wants to do it herself i can t imagine life
