the russell family blog thursday march 24 2011 big news it has been quite some time since i last posted i made it to your first birthday william and then took a blogging break but i would say that the news we have is big and blog worthy and that i better start documenting like i did with you so here it is your little brother or sister is on his or her way and we are thrilled baby russell 2 is due september 30th and is just as big a blessing as the first russell baby we cannot wait to meet you little pumpkin posted by the russells at 4 46 pm 1 comment wednesday november 17 2010 happy first birthday happy first birthday sweet boy we are here your first birthday and the first of many your dad and i are more in love with you than ever filled with pride over what a sweet boy you are and thanking god for the gift you are to us we made it through this first year with flying colors and a deeper knowledge of the grace and mercy that christ has for us we have also gained a better understanding of unconditional love the meaning of sacrifice what true joy is and how to lay our lives down you are a true blessing and daddy and i are so privileged to be your parents i hope that know in your heart that i love being your mother no matter what you do your milestones during this last month have been so fun you are really changing faster than i can keep up with i am starting to see you drop back and forth from two naps to one and boy you don t like napping much anymore you go to the refrigerator and holler when you are thirsty hug when we ask you to high five point to mommy s nose when i ask you where it is point something out when it hurts and so many more things it is absolutely amazing to see how quickly you are becoming aware of and learning about new things no longer do you walk everywhere but you run i am one tired mommy at the end of the day from chasing you around climbing is also a big thing for you sweet boy my day begins with your snuggles and ends with more of your snuggles life couldn t be better always mommy and daddy feeding the ducks on your birthday daddy came home early from work to celebrate your birthday we had a big party for you the day before your actual birthday served chili dogs homemade mac and cheese cake and cupcakes 60 people showed up to celebrate your first birthday what nice friends and family we have yay for me i m one are so close to your first birthday and mommy is both sad and excited about that you are such an energetic happy sweet and loving little boy playing all of the time and growing up in so many ways mommy and daddy s favorite milestone is that you are dancing finally just a slight shake of the tail feather but you are there dancing up a storm we are also really enjoying how much you copy your daddy and his noises clicking your tongue when he does squealing when he whistles and you just seem to be really absorbing and taking in everything around you you can drink out of a straw now comb your own hair and you have dropped a bottle and added whole milk pretty soon you will be off the bottle you are spreading your little baby wings sweet william we celebrated the fourth of july a few weeks ago and boy were we busy it was so much fun watching you wave your little flag this is one of mommy and daddy s most favorite holidays we started by going over to the lakewood parade at the theriots then off to the belotes lakehouse for the day and night then home the next day for dinner and fireworks you couldn t make it to the fireworks maybe next year and then we went to the highland park parade the next morning with honey busy little celebrators you were a sweet heart the whole weekend and we made so many memories we also went on a trip to chicago to see your cousins this month i can t even explain how happy your were to be playing with them all weekend even despite an injury to your finger that was actually pretty serious you had a blast it has been a busy month and i know that next month will be even more exciting as always our hearts simply swell with joy and pride when we think of you you are so amazing just because you are william and i hope you always know that love mommy and daddy posted by the russells at 10 12 am no comments tuesday june 22 2010 10 months 10 months celebrating daddy s first fathers day moving to standing with your favorite ball smiley boy daddy worked from home one morning and you helped eating your eggs for breakfast swimming at the pool oh boy mr william ten whole months we are getting so close to your first birthday and mommy just can t stand it you are starting to look like such a big boy i m just glad that you still have some fat rolls here are the big things you learned this month you were a busy boy you officially eat what mommy and daddy eat for their meals and you feed yourself unless i am giving you yogurt or applesauce your favorites are garden burger green beans mac and cheese pasta with marinara apples we are working on chicken nuggets still loving cheerios yobaby etc you learned how to use your sippy cup both kinds and you don t like juice yet mom is totally okay with that you started walking along the side of couch and anything that you can hold on to and now you are standing up without any help and balancing yourself it is amazing to watch anyday now one of your feet will move forward and you will officially be walking you love your little walker and it is hysterical to watch you move around the house with it cutie we finally taught you how to go down the stairs just the two steps that go down into mommy and daddy s bathroom and it is so cute to watch you lay on your tummy and stick your little foot over the edge and feel for the floor smart boy you like to bang two things together throw the ball at me or across the room and go get it and throw it again climb the stairs with mommy behind you and shake your head no when i tell you no fantastic still taking two naps per day and going to bed around 7 however you fight sleep big time now your favorite thing to do is throw your pacifiers and bunny overboard and cry until i come get them one time through and then you go to sleep we are still so pleased with your personality tons of babbling as loud as you can and we are pretty sure that you know who dada is and are starting to say it on purpose you are a giggly happy and funny baby monkey celebrating mothers day 2010 playing in your baby pool snuggling at the lake you like to press your face up against my cheek a lot i wish i could freeze time when i look at this picture of you 9 months big boy here s the stats from your 9 month check up 20 pounds and 29 3 4 inches long you are about 95th percentile on height and 50th percentile on weight sweet skinny boy it is because you are by far the most active 9 month old i have ever seen speaking of active you have begun to walk while holding on the things like the coffee table or couch you are into everything mister and mommy lays her head down on her pillow exhausted every night you are opening drawers cabinets cleaning off my shoe shelf cleaning out my underwear drawer emptying your book shelf emptying your hamper dumping the dog water bowl and climbing me like i m a jungle gym on a daily basis it is crazy around here but the activity is so fun and watching you develop is amazing we are starting to feed you table food and so far you are being pretty picky i think the texture is getting to you but you are working hard at it and i am very proud of you you love cheerios still don t like bananas too much and are trying all different things work in progress tons of squeals giggles and babbling lately you are working hard on learning how to use that voice of yours you like to shake your head no a lot when you can tell that mommy or daddy are not pleased with something that you are doing and unfortunately it makes us laugh we have lots going on this week mommy s 30th birthday is this week and your aunt rachel and aunt anna are coming in town woo hoo anyhow i can t stop thinking about how i always wanted to be married and have at least one baby by my 30th birthday and here i am and my life is close to perfect you are a big part of the joy that makes it easy to turn 30 and look forward to what life has in store for me i made that goal not knowing how precious having you would be i was just young and excited about growing up and now i am older and still excited about growing up i hope you read this one day and realize that truly finding the joy in life and looking forward to the road ahead is so important set your goals so that you can smile on your accomplishments even if things don t work out as planned you can learn from the situation find good and live your life with joy little boy your dad doesn t spend much time sweating the small stuff or thinking negatively and it has made him able to see good and smile a lot i love you and am so proud of how you are growing and becoming so today i don t even know where to begin when it comes to the changes that you have made over the last month you are eating a big yogurt at breakfast and a fruit and veggie with oatmeal at night taking three 8 ounce bottles per day and once six ounce bottle mid morning and we can barely keep up with you little boy i m thinking you weigh about 25 pounds now and watching you grow and figure things out on your own has been amazing you can pull up to standing which happened at the very beginning of your seventh month you are starting to stand without anything balancing you hold on to the couch to walk around it you can climb stairs bear crawl most of the time because it is faster pass things from one hand to the other shake your head when you don t want something or even better swat my hand away and all kinds of things you got your first tooth this last month and are cutting another one right now and on a sad note you had your first tummy flu it was so sad little bear but you were a trooper you celebrated your first easter and it was a beautiful day we loved watching you crawl to get the bright colored eggs there s been so many changes you are growing so fast and every day your daddy and i lay down in bed and are grateful for you you always bring so many smiles to us and we are enjoying every moment of watching you grow and seeing how much our love grows for you we love you the beautiful tulips and get some sweet pictures of you we packed a picnic lunch and got there around 11 30 it was pretty packed but that didn t bother us it was an absolutely perfect day just warm
