i once saw a youtube video discussing every time glee was acephopic through its hyper sexuality and sex positive story lines which isn t inherently a bad thing by itself being used as a way to fix or shame anyone who expresses not wanting to have sex and since i ve never watched the show and youtube refuses to let me see that video again i ve come here to ask if glee is acephobic or at least problematic in the way it handles discussions around asexuality and possibly aromanticism because on one hand i kinda want to watch the show because some of the covers fucking slap but on the other i really don t want to watch a show that tells me that my sexual orientation isn t real and overthink about all the possible ramifications it had on not only the queer community but also on how people outside of the community perceive asexuality as a result so if anyone can tell me if glee is or isn t acephobic i would really appreciate it moonprismpower456 4h in my opinion not really they don t mention asexuality or aromanticism so i never personally felt invalidated by the show but i was let down seeing episodes that run under the assumption that sex is a part of growing up for everyone and something everyone will do at some point so it runs under some allonormative assumptions with its narrative but i don t consider it outright aphobic and the allonormative bits are really just a few episodes so i wouldn t skip out on the whole show because of that i don t think the show inherently shames anyone who doesn t wanna have sex mainly it s a message about waiting until you re ready but
