on the we ave written weekly poetry prompt the poet of the week selma martin has challenged us to write a triolet the triolet is a 13th century french form that relies on heavy repetition in iambic pentameter because it is 8 lines long with only 2 end rhymes some poets find it too restrictive i disagree the repetition adds impact and nuisance selma asks that we capture a moment of summer the of epistle poem a cara sorella this is an italian form meaning dear sister it is a poem that refers to a heartfelt or personal poem written to a sister it generally explores sisterly love shared kaddish the poet of the week jaideep has challenged us to write a 3 line poem any form that brings together a cultural or family tradition and modern technology line 1 should mention the tradition line 2 connects the tradition with technology and line 3 is to show how tradition and technology come together to inspire each other and create something new holiday tradition began with family photos in sepia tone modern pictures in color with polaroid then smart phone now the family larger grown is captured fully by aerial drone and now the post script my family is represented in many portraits starting in the late 1890s with tin types and sepia toned pictures these were always taken on important occasions like christmas or easter or the baptism of a child i have photos of my great great grand parents with their children some of the kids are just a blur because the photo required absolute stillness because the exposure was so long that if you moved or blinked there wouldn t be a sharp learned well that complacency is dangerous she listens to her gut and her intuition hopefully she can teach dumbo to do the same the investigation had been at a standstill it looked like god was the only one who knew the truth and he wasn t talking the hot line had been set up and was silent i really hate when someone thinks they are getting away with murder to make matters worse the trail was going cold it was my turn to man the phone when a call came in i started asking the routine questions the voice on the other end answered but there was a hissing i realized too late that he was
