note some old ones i never published 03 23 avery ok let s not argue because there are two little kids around you can argue when we go to bed then you can finish your story i m not exactly proud of this moment however it certainly puts light on how silly some of our arguments can be to have a 4 year old try to calm the situation is a reality check i ll never be perfect but for the boys sake including nate who is on the other end of the arguments i really want to lessen the conflict and work to be more constructive in disagreements and not let them escalate to arguments i m not against conflict and i want our kids to see it but i also want them to see it resolved in a constructive manner nate or avery will have to comment on true progress but i think it s been getting better 07 21 mommy rutledge what do you want for your birthday rut cake that was a simple and to the point response but the past week or so we ve really noticed rut start to talk so much more he s starting to put together 4 or so word sentences to communicate i do have to admit he does like to keep it simple when demanding something for example paci now i m really not sure where he put that together and i can t blame it on nick s kids but we are working in reminding him to add please it s exciting to see the progress in our little man but a little bitter sweet 07 24 nick comes over to work on the garage and says i see you ve been teaching your son some dance moves i have no idea what he s talking about and he explains the kids were dancing at grandma s and avery was twerking i wish i had video of uncle nick demonstrating the new moves avery had as it brought me to tears laughing however when avery got home we asked to see he explained that daddy taught him video to come 07 25 avery runs into box of questions to promote discussions at dinner sometimes it s like pulling teeth to get avery to talk and tell us about his day worse than a teenager it has recently improved after he told me several days ago that he asked harper how her day was while he was at school and she wouldn t tell him he said that really made him sad i asked how he thought it made mommy and daddy feel when he wouldn t tell us about his day we now usually at least hear a little something instead of the ever so popular i m too tired to talk anyhow we finally busted out the box of questions and avery actually really enjoyed it he may not be old enough to understand every question but it resulted in a few chuckles for us would you rather your parents hug you praise you or do something nice for you avery hug me while i watch tv and since its our blog so you get to read our answers too not nearly as entertaining but such is life nate do something nice linds praise what do children know more about than
