to customize the appearance of tumblr you should use the built in settings or palettes for tumblr you shouldn t rely on new xkit it s old and busted around four years ago april a core contributor to new xkit started the xkit rewritten and wider addons projects to create a modern alternative to the already somewhat moldy new xkit this was with our complete support and many members of the new xkit team now also help out with xkit rewritten and other addons chrome and firefox have both phased out support for older extensions requiring challenging workarounds to install new xkit it s become very clear that anyone who is still using new xkit would really have a better time using xkit rewritten palettes and outbox for tumblr and the couple xkit inspired core tumblr features if you continue to use new xkit for some key part of your tumblr workflow be warned that it s past the end of its digital lifespan despite the name new xkit is a crumbling old cathedral you can still walk around in it to allow moment js style customisation of tumblr s own timestamps you can enable tumblr s timestamps in your dashboard settings this feature supercedes the timestamps feature which will be removed at over the course of the next 5 hours but if you want to update faster you can go to other update all and click update all of my extensions to update immediately but you ll need to refresh your browser for you palettes for tumblr this standalone addon allows you to choose a palette from either tumblr s list of palettes or a palette provided by the addon this includes the lighter blue colour scheme from 2016 2019 and also the even lighter blue palette from before that this addon also allows you to customise which font type and base font size tumblr uses this means you can keep using tumblr s dark mode palette but still use the old font or a system font spoiler alert the cybernetic palette looks way cooler with monospace font this addon is currently in beta and right now is only available for firefox but that will change the end goal is to allow you to create and share your own palettes for tumblr and for me to publish the addon on all major browser extension stores also if you want to
