dd and which to remove i share this viewer to show the world that user base size is not important i do rate quality by effort thought and love put into the project not some rough estimated numbers i consider feature requests only if i you can name proper valid reasons i can agree on it is my unpaid time i m putting into this project i m not here to cater to every joe s desires monday march 2 2026 black dragon viewer 64x update 5 6 0 favorite dragon we back baby does this update contain a changes b fixes c features the answer is all of the above and probably new crashes horray not for the crashes either way several crash fixes for the pose creator starting stopping previewing all resulting in crashes no more as a bonus it should no longer break and corrupt your attachment slots anymore either crashing on uploading anim files begone i cast fireball crash died crash died crash died crash died crash died wait 5 crashes died yup a startup crash was there too somewhere what else we got 400 changes well idk what they are they are linden stuff no one cares they probably gonna break sum of ma shit niran did you put features into the black dragon update dumbledore asked calmly with the force of a thousand suns yes puts on shades smaa t2x aka smaa temporal reprojection essentially like taa but less ghosty woooooohooohhooo you can now also toggle off dates in snapshot names hopefully and finally there s a secret wuhuhuuahauahaua changes improvements they are all the same better screen space reflections working in high resolution snapshots now better hopefully chromatic aberration better shadow blur weeeeeee certainly a spectacular release not so spectacular is that the inventory issue might still be around i don t know hopefully not posted by niranv dean at 12 11 pm 29 comments sunday february 1 2026 black dragon viewer 64x update 5 5 2 volumetric dragon it is that time again and this time the video is finally here posted by niranv dean at 12 56 am 4 comments friday november 21 2025 black dragon viewer 64x update 5 5 0 volumetric dragon so as promised on discord here it is 5 5 0 meaning shit didn t explode anymore than it did previously so here we are 5 5 0 coming with the latest ll release code 1000 changes fixes and new features one highlight that i personally noticed was the ability to favorite objects in your inventory hence the name favorite dragon there are of course more changes all of which i don t know but i ve heard rumors that there might be an option somewhere to uh turn off the lookat animations apart from that this is a bog standard update as any other with some fixes of my own mostly things that got broken with the merge and some little cosmetic changes such as shadowed fonts for dropdown buttons finally and one particular fix for the login screen video about that sadly youtube has changed the way embedded youtube videos work the browser now has to report in its header how the video was referred to so youtube can accurately track where the clicks views are coming from cef chromium embedded framework which the viewer uses and funny enough is from well google you know the people who make youtube doesn t support this yet at least the version the viewer uses and when using it to play embedded videos directly via the media plugin ll is aware of this and might fix this in the future for now this required going away from the login screen videos and replace it with well another video you didn t honestly think i d get rid of these now didn t you infact i turned it up to eleven i used this chance to revamp the login screen a bit tidy it up and render out an entirely new login screen video just for this occasion i spent several days on this okay some might say its crass but let me say this it is f i r e does it go too hard maybe is it unnecessary probably is it good tho absolutely as with everything i do i had much bigger plans initially a totally different music was used and i wanted to progressively build up the video as updates go on add more stuff make it more sophisticated you know as a metaphorical way or something to show that the viewer keeps evolving but i through all that away and said fuck it i ma complete the entire thing right away i still have all the incomplete versions and could progressively change them as updates go on but nah people probably watch it only once because its new maybe a second time or so if they like the song and then they will probably never check it out again so i figured it should complete from the get go here are some renders of the old planned video infact have the entire video for the new one you ll have to look into the viewer of course not gonna spoil it here also little fun fact about black dragon the name is a lie it is not a black dragon it is infact a purple dragon it just appears to be black due to the greyscale effect it s funny to think about it that the idea of black dragon started out on a picture of a purple dragon that was simply greyscaled and looked like it was a black dragon so in a sense these videos go back to the roots of where black dragon came from it all comes full circle alright with the update out of the way there s something more important to say the viewer is not going to die yet thanks to the insane support of everyone coming together we shot way past the patreon minimum and also made some extra to save up for bad times to prolong the innevitable i suppose needless to say that the viewer if we continue like this will probably go on for a couple more years thanks to you ps i m still planning on making a video posted by niranv dean at 8 42 pm 7 comments thursday september 25 2025 black dragon viewer 64x update 5 4 4 volumetric dragon open your ocular receptors for they will be chromatically aberrated with this minor increase in numerical versioning for eons have people demanding volumetric lighting back for it broke with pbr and i was unsure whether i would be able to fix it as pbr changed a lot of things around today however i have very positive news about that as today marks the day of the return of volumetric lighting but keen eyes will notice that there s more don t worry it is not your ocular receptors that fail you it is chromatic aberration that is back too oh and it comes in two flavors now you can now choose between having chromatic aberration always on as before or you can have it only in depth of field this means only the blurred parts are aberrated you know i m not saying it looks nice but it looks nice that s not all though greyscale sepia and posterization are now also available without having tone mapping or hdr enabled posterization now also affects volumetric lighting and glow as well we aren t stopping there the poser has gotten the promised pose synchronization last time however it was only possible to synchronize your own pose to someone else with this update it becomes possible to synchronize someone elses pose to them so yes you can finally see being posed please keep in mind that this whole system abuses im messages that means if you sync too much stuff you ll be hit with an im limit which will break syncing half way through i m working on a solution for that also still you can only do this if both of you are on black dragon no this does not work with firestorm stop asking it might be unreliable it might be buggy it might break completely again keep in mind this is super hacky and abuses ims to do its job this is not meant as the final solution this is merely an experiment and a preview for linden labs to show them how it would look like and that it can work for when we ultimately hopefully get this to the official viewer with server side sync one last honorable mention people have been complaining about the login screen video talking terrorist speak when it ends which it shouldn t but this was due to the youtube embed function defaulting to turkish or something due to the inability to detect your preferred language via cookies i ve now forced the embed link to prefer english so no more people getting afraid they got their viewer hacked or something anyway here s something less positive to say a while ago i was contacted by a long time patreon patron who was unhappy with the lack of communication assuming they meant the viewer not getting updates nor messages on discord who ultimately ended his patronage after 4 years let me say that i feel you i m sorry for the lack of updates and communication life has been steadily getting harder and you aren t the only one who dropped out of patreon over time the amount of people subscribed to patreon has steadily declined to the point i could no longer keep up with the increasing demands of my dirty capitalist country so for several months now i ve been falling short on cash at first i was able to churn through with some saved up money but it never recovered and i was eventually forced to make a decision either end it here or find another way i was determined to make it work somehow it s only a couple eurons missing right so i started taking comissions after several people requested them told me i should do comissions because they are eager to pay for my work so aside from working on the viewer and my other million projects as well as juggling real life and friends i m now also juggling comissions to earn that little bit of missing cash this took away time from the viewer obviously which resulted in the development getting slower and slower and more and more comissions had to be taken to make up for the steadily increasing lack of patreon funds this created a death spiral more comissions less development less patrons less money more comissions and so on i didn t say anything because i didn t want to worry anyone nor do i want to beg for money after all if people don t want to support me anymore then that s their choice and a completely legit reason no one is forcing anyone to support me but as much as i don t want to say it the viewer does depend on me and i depend on this money and with the grips tightening to the point that i feel like i can no longer offset the missing funds and with that one message giving me a big wake up call i think it might finally time to say it i do not think i can make this work much longer the next month might already not work out anymore so unless this somehow stabilizes again we will soon have to switch from very little communication to no communication as in shutting the light off i hate saying this but the viewer is dying patreon is what kept the viewer alive everyone who financially supported me kept this viewer alive several many more years than anticipated thank you everyone for that for anyone interested in the exact numbers 400 was chosen as the patreon goal because it covers the mandatory health insurance 265 310 and internet provider cost 55 65 that is with conversion from to that was enough anyway i hope you like the update the return of volumetric lighting it has been a long ride posted by niranv dean at 11 27 pm 28 comments monday june 2 2025 black dragon viewer 64x update 5 4 1 birthday dragon dooodidoodidoodidooom what we need is more boom blows open the pandoras box posing for dragon ohwow it is that time again huh my birthday has come around again and with it comes a new video only took me 3 re recordings shitloads of editing a million editing software crashes and workarounds to get it actually rendered just to turn out that i m still not happy with it ohboi can t make it right for everyone but either way for my birthday i made a very special update you could say it s visually imposing posted by niranv dean at 12 34 am 17 comments tuesday april 22 2025 black dragon viewer 64x update 5 3 4 glazing dragon finally holds scientific substance i invented a fix for the camera angle crash this means we are back to square one i can finally start focusing on the usual development again now that the viewer is practically where it was before pbr g r e a t oh yea also april s fools is over it was meant to go the entire april but i ve limited it to the first week now so all strings should return to the normal text if you want to keep it you can use the language debug option and simply set it to april posted by niranv dean at 3 32 pm 8 comments friday march 28 2025 black dragon viewer 64x update 5 3 2 scaling dragon alrighty another update more important changes post processing should work again if you use tonemapping and changing the camera angle should hopefully no longer crash i implemented a workaround that hopefully fixes this someone also suggested to add the tonemap exposure option so here it is posted by niranv dean at 11 42 am 19 comments wednesday march 19 2025 black dragon viewer 64x update 5 3 1 scaling dragon whoopdiedoo and here we go lots of fixes especially for that sky editor crash several people have been having looks like that was actually two different crashes in one package also new options such as voice noise suppression new tonemappers reinhard and filmic are back contact adaptive sharpening antialiasing quality and a voice visualizer option to toggle of the voice dot no idea still on the camera zoom crash but i added some logging in hopes to get a lead as to where its crashing if you are crashing due to this please send me your log file so i can take a look hopefully this will net some results posted by niranv dean at 12 14 am 13 comments friday march 14 2025 black dragon viewer 64x update 5 3 0 scaling dragon oof well here we are back again at it people have been crying for an update people actually want to update so here we are merged with the latest linden code and on par with the foreverfps release that came out a week ago armed to the teeth with support for 2k pbr terrain which should complete 2k resolution support and a billion crash fixes probably also a billion new crashes most notably a fix for crashing when adding someone to the group banlist now i don t know if the changing the view angle still crashes or if that has been fixed too since i cannot reproduce it but i suppose we ll see so if you still crash on changing the camera angle zoom in out please let me know i have some ideas how i could get to the bottom of whats happening either way this release also comes with some new options options to set the tone mapper as well as how much it is mixed into the final image both of these options did not work in my testing so i don t know what s up with them but they are there maybe they need some other setting to work i really don t know i ll have to test these options in the linden viewer they are not yet supposed to be surfaced also an option to ...
