unique place for ecological exploration yellowstone was the first national park in united states wolves had become extinct in the yellowstone area fourteen gray wolves were reintroduced into the park in march of 1995 visitors can take hikes to explain the reintroduction of wolves into the park fires can be devastating however also very important part of a natural cycle in 1988 yellowstone was transformed by fire fires are a way for nature to reintroduce nutrients back into the land 793 880 acres of land were damaged by the 1988 fire biologists have taken this opportunity to study the re growth which has diverse vegetation when i saw the park in 2001 one could make a distinction between the land had affected by the fire and the acres that were untouched yellowstone is widely known for its geyser old faithful geysers occur when water from the surface leaches into permeable rock under pressure the water is heated and ascends up to the outside as geysers or hot springs it is a spectacular site to see the steam shoot into the air whether it is the wildlife history or old faithful yellowstone is a park rich in history and ongoing research permalink 4 comments october 5 2006
