atropa belladonna atropa belladonna inxj 33 i was a visual artist a lifetime ago but i gave it all up to chase my dreams of making music worldscoolest magnetic storm 1966 oleh sokolov unconditionalstudio themakeupbrush jolipoli via themakeupbrush ok so the tasklist is something like practice gestures work off simple b w photos heavily still life for practicing light practice mark making for shading re hone anatomy knowledge fabric studies use a different medium that forces me to block out shapes it will be better to work quickly and loosely and without attachment for quantity and situational experience maybe i can fit in a methodical art practice routine in my daily schedule oshiwambo via elkisadeer an attempt was made jfc was i always this mediocre proportion mistakes and light dark values not translating over correctly from color to b w fabric continues to elude me maybe this is due to working at a small scale but my shading is very heavy handed when it needs to be subtle and precise and i also miss out on a lot of middle ground because my brain doesn t interpret it correctly off of existing color many areas should not be pure white maybe i should try using b w reference photos to practice on until i m not relying entirely on observation something something spheres cubes cones cylinders my uncontrollable tendency to graphically outline everything does not help at all to convey correct values i really really need to force myself to draw and think like a painter instead if i want to get better all these things stress me out like damn dude visual art really does straight up make me unhappy not sure why i even care so much but i guess it would nice to practice again and overcome these weaknesses as a personal growth thing maybe when the successes do finally happen i can start to enjoy the process again more than ideas the bouquet vangoghcore by n4ny4r via soft lunar rose warmfigure via soft lunar rose 04k96 oh right on the subject of art i haven t really lost my mark making abilities nor have i forgotten how to draw people for a non painter originally i m getting better at working via blocking out shapes working lean to fat and building up light and shadow fabric outside of the simplest drapes still completely eludes me and gauging exact values of light and shadow into monochrome while referencing a color photo is still really tricky for me to see maybe i could try studying and practicing again but the problem with visual art is that i care too much about the product and don t enjoy the process anywhere to the same level as i do with music that problem would lessen through simply doing art more often but i m also already trying to learn and do so many other things i feel like i m giving myself option paralysis maybe when life feels like less of a race against time i can just relax and start dabbling in whatever i want maybe i m overthinking it and i can just start sketching things on a whim and get good again through doing that i feel like i need to give my entire life to music to become who i m supposed to be so deviating from that feels like a betrayal to myself oncce againn i had a dream about you so i slept a little longer via cr3ta 9e978e via via antoniabishop next
