11 2016 day 75 august 24 2015 2 memorize the book of james chapter 1 is memorized but i am still studying through it how much can a decision like this deciding to memorize a book of the bible change your life i have a feeling i am going to find out but maybe never fully appreciate until heaven let s just say this decision was divinely directed this one chapter has challenged my spiritual life walk with christ in that how could i have thought i was walking with god before now sort of way always i am thrilled to see how god corroborates personal study with friendly conversations pastor s preaching outside reading and other sources to confirm his truth in my heart 6 run a sub 2 ½ marathon training went great for the 10k we ran on july 4 th in riverton ut riverton country mile my goal was to run the 10k 6 2 miles under 54 minutes that would be a little under par for the ½ marathon nailed it for proof see here 14 on the list katie m laura ran this race with me it s so much more fun running with other people i ve been side tracked by school 24 7 3 weeks straight now but that will settle shortly a bit off on my pace right now but that s great motivation to work harder from now on 9 canning from my own garden garden is growing great guns won t be long before this one becomes a boom or bust effort 11 no pop for a year help everybody day 75 i m still going not terribly strong but going i definitely have supportive friends to thank for this one thanks katie laura mayra hannah every little bit helps believe me 13 get fit weight strength agility back to meatless diet excluding o old my friend hosted a beautiful dinner made me black forest cupcakes on sunday afternoon yum that was so so nice that s exactly what i would have asked for good food with good friends here we all are well mostly a few couldn t make it have to love these posed pictures hey everybody is at least smiling at the same time next up is my 30 before 30 list thanks to my friend elsa for the great idea below i have copied my list of 30 things i want to do accomplish try before my birthday next year also included are my reasons for various parts of the list feel free to comment i would love to read any tidbits advice ideas or even laughter you might share some of them are quite silly several are still only concepts with no clear path to completion so anything you can add would be genuinely appreciated just beware i have roped quite a few people in to helping me accomplish my list when they offered advice just to be clear i welcome comments on the list not my age haha my 30 before 30 facebook share to pinterest wednesday may 27 2015 doing the dishes audience participation requested this year has been one of hospitality in my home it is such a pleasure to share dinner with guests friends and family it would be really great to share with real family whenever any of them decide to trek out to the wild wild west hint hint yes shameless attempt at manipulation opening my home to others has offered me the opportunity to develop practices of hospitality and think of others in a whole new light there are so many subtle and not so subtle nuances of hosting casual meals game nights babysitting and even a formal dinner party pardon me as i sift through some of these here the night before my first 15 guest dinner party while scrubbing away at the walls and floors chopping measuring the food it struck me that these things really are a labor of love for friends and family and for the lord in following his command to practice hospitality there is an element of christ like self sacrifice very evident to any hostess i peter 4 9 and what is the point of having people over for dinner is it to show off cooking skills or the house naw those play a part it really is all about the guests though giving them good food a good time and joy as they leave as with many of the design features god has created us with sacrificing in this way for others blesses the giver maybe more than the recipients surely this has been my experience during after my first 15 guest dinner party i was overwhelmed with such joy and appreciation that so many of my friends would gather here in my home to share in my food enjoy this very same time all together how many people have been so blessed to gather 15 good friends around the table for no occasion but the lord s day the joy of friendship with each other all of that said some of my frequent guests i have an on going good natured debate to settle please include your answer explanations and any other thoughts in the comments section below do you allow guests in your home to do the dishes after dinner a standard after 3 visits to your home b yes if they volunteer c only after they ve become family d never e other please explain personally i don t care for others to do my dishes partly because living by myself has allowed me to indulge in some ocd tendencies in the kitchen among other places we all have some ocd s right i like to know where things are care for particular pieces in particular ways wooden spoons cutting boards cast iron pans etc and it is always awkward when someone else breaks a dish they feel badly you try make them feel better even if that was your mama s favorite mug and so on now when we visited at other people s homes mom would always say girls go help with the dishes andrea knows what that was a grunt sigh from us girls oh ya we were not born with any natural character that s for sure however gramma leslie says i always tell guests you don t even have to wash the dishes after dinner here sit there enjoy the meal good conversation afterwards later on when everyone s gone i ll wash the dishes and reminisce over the good times and laughter we had it will be my pleasure i believe i ll adopt the leslie family practice on this one and i think mom would approve maybe even be shocked that i am offering to do the dishes instead of offering them to someone else to do posted by sharon adorable for mother s day thanks to super girl my friend for finding the idea thanks to jo ann s for a great relatively simple idea thanks to long suffering 1st 2nd graders for careful work patient waiting here are the directions that i used i made a couple of addendums to the directions but as they say definitely read the directions before you start the directions say to tape tissue paper to a piece of white paper draw write on the tissue i copied a couple of patterns of coloring pages onto the white paper to act as templates for the kids to follow this made a world of a difference the idea is a basic t shirt transfer principle but with candles and without the option of using an iron for quick transfer which leads me to the other addendum the directions suggest using a heat gun or hair dryer may i offer a gentle suggestion use a heat gun the hair dryer took forever ok it really wasn t that bad but for one who gets impatient easily well let s just say by the 5th 6th 7th candles it took a lot of will power to finish here s a picture of the completed project love it the finished product made forever with the hair dryer quite a bit more worth it by the way these candles strike me as the perfect parent gift think about all of those kids projects you ve received be honest you dare not throw them out but you have no idea where to put them or what to do with them with this one mom s can look at the pictures on the side burn the candle and it s gone the kids are thrilled to pieces that mom liked and used the gift and it s gone posted by sharon diedrich no comments email this
