help but notice them i know that the fact that i notice them has to do with the time of year and the angle of the sun in addition to the time of day i ll bet that in a few months it won t be the same if we weren t so distracted by technology we would over time be as good as other ancient cultures have been with their knowledge of astronomy and the movement of the sun moon and stars in the sky all below clouds we don t think of them as having shadows unless a cloud passes over you that is large enough for you to see the passing shadow it is such a paradox though that shadows are not there
