2 kids 3 cats and a blog 2 kids 3 cats and a blog random rants and raves about my 2 kids but now we have 2 cats and a dog with the blog change is inevitable wednesday november 6 2013 cut above the rest i love my pg so very much bubba s pretty swell too but this one is about pg one of her friends at school got a drastic haircut a couple of months ago and told everyone that she donated her hair pg came home and asked about it and we talked about where the hair went who it was for and how they used it for wigs she decided that she wanted to do it too we waited a little while because 1 she wanted to be sam sparks for halloween which is an overdue post in itself and she needed a ponytail and 2 the minimum donation for some places was 8 inches and she needed some time to grow her hair we tried to go on sunday but the salon closed when we got there no i don t take her to a fancy appointment place it s the walmart salon don t judge today was the first day that we had time to go after school and she was so excited she didn t meet the 10 inch minimum for locks of love but we found the pantene program and the children with hair loss program that both accepted 8 inches of hair we talked about the different people that used both programs and she decided that she wanted to send her hair to the program for children here s her before picture and the cutting of the ponytail and her after she looks adorable and she loves it i was a little nervous about going so short but her bob is inverted so the layers are a little longer in front and it s too cute she s already gotten three comments that she looks like her aunt and she s so flattered by that i couldn t stop taking pictures of her she just looks so grown up she s even cute when she tucks it behind her ears and when she s eating meat loaf i put her ponytail in a ziploc bag and said we had to mail it tomorrow she said some kid is going to get a crazy red wig yep some kid sure will we re proud of you pretty girl posted by quigs78 at 10 02 pm 6 comments monday october 28 2013 postview and preview i was called for jury duty for the first time last week and was chosen to be a juror on a horrible emotional week long trial it sucked the life out of me for a week while i was gone all day every day the husband had to take time off of work because the kids were out of school he even went to their parent teacher conferences by himself he was able to come home and tell me all of the amazing things the teachers told him about pg and bubba though we have two pretty impressive kids here i must say this is a preview of the kids school pictures from a couple of weeks ago i asked them why they were tipping their heads like that when i was taking their picture and pg said because it makes us look cuter she s not wrong the weekend before last my sister and niece came down for an overnight visit we had so much fun she brought a rainbow loom for the kids so our house has been overrun with rubber band bracelets we went to dinner saw the youth theatre group perform shrek the musical and decorated a haunted gingerbread house those three kids crack me up when they re together i love these smart funny little creatures that same night my college bestie and her wife crashed at our house too they had come from st louis to go to the u of i game with some friends we were able to hang out and have breakfast with them the next day before they had to head back home it was a short but very sweet visit this past weekend we headed to marseilles for the glow walk run for stomp out silence it s an anti bullying group that my friend founded to help end bullying in the community she s put in an incredible amount of work for this cause and it s already making a huge difference in her area and is getting nationwide interest we re so proud of her and wouldn t have missed this event for the world once we started walking it got dark and the kiddos were glowing like crazy pg even had some clip on glow stick earrings that she was very excited about the walk was a huge success and we re happy we could be there it s getting colder in the mornings so pigeon needed a little warmth i m working on my own little upcycled sweatshirt for her but until i m done we bought this sweater for her she s pretty much the cutest dog ever i had braided pg s hair yesterday so she had asked me if i would do lots of braids so her hair would be curly she slept with seven braids overnight and she was chomping at the bit for me to take the braids out this morning she was very happy with the results she said i bet my teachers are going to see me and tell me how beautiful my hair is and a lot of people actually did i have a feeling she s going to be asking for braids a lot more often she likes attention a lot like her father and just for fun here s a halloween teaser we practiced getting bubba s hair to stand up for his costume and it worked pretty well now we only have 472 other things to do before am so bad at this i swear this school year is just insanely busy please tell me that the kids school lives will eventually stop consuming my schedule at least maybe when they re in college september was a crazy month but the absolute highlight for me and bubba was traveling to idaho to surprise this special little boy on his birthday bubba and i got up at 2am to drive to peoria to catch a flight to minneapolis to catch a flight to boise and it was totally worth it the boys got to spend friday through monday together and so did j and i we picked up right where we left off and it was all quality time we miss them so very much bubba was trying to take our pictures with my phone and we were trying to tell him what button to push this picture captures that moment exactly while bubba and i were gallivanting in another state pg was having an amazing time with her dad they went to the carnival she had her first day of art school at the university a birthday party a visit with mimi and pop pop a playdate at the park and a trip to the orchard for apple donuts i m pretty sure she wants us to go away every weekend so dad can spoil her rotten pg also lost her other front tooth last month i happened to be volunteering in her class when she said her tooth cracked so i took her into the bathroom and she pulled it out i know i m a little biased but she s pretty much the cutest thing ever with that giant hole in her face they have swim lessons at the y on wednesdays and we got there a little early so they posed for a picture i know sometimes these kids are so damn cute and sometimes not so much then the kids had their open house at school we were walking back to school that evening and they held hands seriously adorable look pop pop pg s finished plant project that you helped with no one else had thorns tonight we took the kids to see how i became a pirate at the community college and they loved it the school librarian had just read this book to the first graders a few weeks ago so pg was especially excited phew i think that s the abridged version of the past thirty days i would tell you that i ll try to update more often and i would promise that another month won t go by without a post but we all know that would be a lie don t we i ll leave you with one of the mottos in our house you get what you get and you don t throw a fit that s going to have to apply cosmetic caulking issues and a little touch up painting but overall we love it we can only afford to eat peanut butter and jelly sandwiches for a few months but they ll look damn good sitting on these counters posted by quigs78 at 9 40 pm 3 comments saturday july 13 2013 vacation i m way behind in blogging now waaaaay behind so we ll just recap the last week or so and start fresh except when i stop blogging again and then do this again a few weeks from now we just got back from a vacation in michigan where we spent a week at a lakehouse with my sister and her family as well as the family of my sister and bil s best friends we had so much fun i never would ve thought that my children would have loved fishing swimming in a mucky lake tubing and riding in a boat as much as they did and the husband and i had a blast too we met up with another family on the lake who had the speedboat tubes etc and this was their dog buddy pg was swimming with him this is just a smattering of the hundreds of pictures that were taken over the week my sister s bff is semi pro with her camera and took amazing pictures of everything all week thank goodness she was there or else we would just have the four pictures that i took with my cell phone all week my pretty girl also turned six while we were gone she had a great day her uncle let her be the first one to drive the boat that day we ve been trying to catch up on our sleep and laundry since we ve been back but we had the wrap party for the husband s game last night and we had to make a quick trip up north for a funeral this morning tomorrow the
