don t message me if you haven t searched for an answer first or checked for any notes you have a question about customizing the theme i just don t have the time sorry you re asking about generic tumblr things i don t work for tumblr try googling instead theme faq click on a question to reveal the answer how do i install update a theme click here for a pretty nice tutorial on how to install tumblr themes and here for a tutorial for page themes updates are done the exact way just replace the code with the new one from the theme preview page the theme isn t showing up properly keep in mind that the theme might not show up correctly on the page you edit your theme on especially some things like fonts and some parts may overlap check your actual blog instead if that doesn t work try installing one of the default tumblr themes refresh the page and install the theme again if that still doesn t work send me a link and i ll check it out how do i customize things images fonts colours etc on the theme on the page before the one you copy the code into where you can change your blog name and description and such there is a bunch of options you can customize this will change from theme to theme but i suggest looking through it before you ask how you change something some themes might have things that you have to go into the code to edit check the notes at the top of the code if there are any to see how to do it how do i format the description or other parts of the theme if you check out the description on the theme preview there might be a few things listed that you can do with it for other things like bold text italic text or other fancy stuff i suggest looking up some basic html click here for a little cheat sheet on it also some themes may have specific instructions on either the theme preview or the top of the code please check those help me modify a theme i m sorry but unless it s very specific to the theme i don t help with theme modifications i suggest you look up some basics on html and possibly even css usually a quick search on google can help you with whatever you re looking for and no worries you don t have to ask to modify a theme go right ahead looking to change font sizes click here my posts aren t showing up anywhere check if the theme you re using is either a blog theme or a page theme it should say so at the top of the code blog themes are meant for your whole blog but page themes are meant to be for separate pages on your blog so they won t show any posts on them my post images aren t showing being duplicated first make sure that you only have one post size 500px 400px 250px selected toggle all these options on and off and then select the one you want if this still doesn t help try turning off the lazy load images option my asks messages aren t working make sure you have your asks enabled some people forget to do this with sideblogs and such so make sure you have that enabled you haven t replied to my message i try to answer all messages and usually will do so within 24 hours please be patient also tumblr does tend to eat messages a lot if you re gonna send links then i suggest you do that through messaging since tumblr seems to eat those asks the most also i may decide not to reply to questions that are clearly answered here i get a lot of anon messages asking the same questions i answer all the time i have infinite scroll on and okay so here s the thing about infinite scroll it may be a really nice feature to have but it really slows down browsers and can break a lot of things i didn t write the script either so there s not much i can do if it does break if something on your theme isn t working try switching infinite scroll off i don t recommend using it so please note that if infinite scrolling is breaking your theme i may not be able to help you with that sorry about this some thing doesn t work check all these first i ll put updates and things i already know i gotta fix up on the theme preview if you re using an older version of the code it s probably a good idea to update i usually put details on customization either on the theme preview or near the top of the code please requests these will be completely free of cost commissions are top priority and the cost will depend on how advanced the theme is as a general idea of the prices i ve usually been charging between 15 and 35 usd 15 being a simple theme or some small modifications to an existing theme and 35 being more complex with lots of interactions animations if you have a budget or limit you d like to set let me know and we can work around it here are some things you can send i recommend you send some kind of drawing or diagram any pictures you might want to use to make sure they fit well a colour scheme that java is not allowed is there something i can do so the theme works again hi at some point tumblr made it so you have to ask for permission to use javascript in your themes it s relatively easy the codec numbers have defaulted to a different font than the ds digital font its supposed to be i tried to adjust some things to attempt to fix it with my non existent html coding knowledge lmao and checked if it was just a browser problem but it seems to be truly broken i wanted to dm you and ask if this could be fixed how i might be able to fix it ty sm it s no problem fonts can be difficult on tumblr since they don t allow you to upload them so i have to use a janky workaround with this theme i fixed it and included some other things while i was at it like an option to not have the posts in resources for making theme of an old gameboy similar to how you did the ds which is super cool btw 3 ive been trying to teach myself w just the basics from diff sites but i m really struggling to find any resources to really show how to make the actual shapes and everything the way i think of it when building it is what shapes go within each shapes so for the ds i have the whole ds in a whole which has the top screen the middle bar and the lower screen in it the top screen has the rows of dots on each side and the actual screen part itself etc this thing is super old now so i don t even know if i coded it this way but i recommend using css flexbox it helps you position all your elements and space them out properly also learn about css positions also it s how i got the buttons in the places they are feel free to learn from the code also you can also go to the preview page right click something you re not sure how to do click inspect element and it shows you the html and css used it s especially nice because you can edit the css right there and it shows the difference right away i hope this helps if you re a super beginner btw i recommend codecademy to learn html css the free btw and want to do two things 1 make the content tab lead to the homepage of the blog only 2 add another tab that like the content tab opens in the blog itself rather than opening in a new window i want to use this to add an art tab so people can browse my art in the same window are these things possible especially interested in 2 thank you hi for the first thing i m guessing you want the content link to do what the home link does i suppose you can just rename them look for these two lines a href div class link id home link home div a div class link link selected id content link data id content content div the first line is the home link and the second line is the content link you can rename them by changing the word before the div and right after the on both lines you can also just remove the whole second line if you don t like how that content link works and for the second thing that d be a pretty difficult thing to code unfortunately no easy fix for that you can use these to add a link to the navigation and then put tagged arttaghere in the url but there s not an easy way to have it come up like the content link does it unfortunately apr 24 2023 4 notes tags raiidens
