about ryelle codes skip to content ryelle codes aka kelly choyce dwan about contact linkedin github ryelle about i m a senior frontend engineer with over a decade of experience building for the web currently based in philadelphia with my spouse two cats and two dogs my journey i started as a full stack developer working with php and mysql before diving deep into wordpress plugins and themes at various agencies i found myself gravitating toward the frontend evolving from jquery and backbone js to react and typescript as the ecosystem matured i still love vanilla css okay with some postcss helpers what tends to surprise people is that i also enjoy writing cli scripts and database migration scripts there s something satisfying about automating the tedious stuff and making complex data transformations elegant wordpress community i ve been deeply involved in the wordpress community for years speaking at conferences and helping organize events i ve also been responsible for a small but key feature for each release the about page over the last few releases this has also included the release pages in sept 2020 i was granted wordpress core commit access a recognition of my contributions to the platform that powers over 40 of the web from 2022 2025 i was the technical lead for the wordpress org redesign using blocks and block themes i created the framework for the styles and some initial components then worked with a small team of developers to build out almost 20 sites some in 200 languages react javascript before full time wordpress work i worked on woocommerce jetpack and wordpress com while on those teams i worked on creating react dashboards and component systems plus apis and state management i improved the flow for installing multiple jetpack products and started the development for the eventual new woocommerce admin ui vue nuxt js i m not sponsored to work on wordpress anymore though i do still try to stay involved now i m working at edreports org where i own the front end experience this has involved taking over a vue nuxt rebuild launching it and moving to a new headless cms and more in the past i ve been a theme developer though i haven t kept up with the themes i ve published i still tinker with theme development i helped out with twenty twenty one some of my theme works in progress can be found at my github but i make no promises about how complete they are i m passionate about accessibility disability advocacy and neurodiversity while at automattic i co started an employee resource group for neurodivergent employees site details fonts etc trispace ibm plex sans ai usage i do use ai to help organize and proofread my content and sometimes rewrite content for better readability i re review all the output so nothing here is vibe written proudly powered by wordpress
