journalism years when i thought he was just about the smartest and strongest man in the field and then later when he and his wife journalist sally quinn bought grey gardens from little eddie after big eddie s death in 1979 now if you don t know about grey gardens well then for shame learn more about the documentary here and the movie here both are worth a watch on so many levels fascinating story quotes delivered from a pot of gold and oh course duh an amazing home bradlee and quinn lived out my ultimate dream taking an old rundown estate and restoring it back to it s original glory they ve used it as a summer house and rented it out to some very lucky tenants over the years and most importantly saved a beautiful piece of history so in honor of mr bradlee i will break out my old copy of a good life and do some reading and watch all the presidents men and grey gardens and cheers a man who represented so many of my interests all rolled into one reporting and restoring architectural the door i have an urn filled with caladium coleus and now a cabbage gourds and pumpkin the front entrance mums pumpkins and lanterns new mailbox swag back patio dressed for fall now we are in the foyer i always have my blue and white jars on the steps and add seasonal decorations next to them i placed fall candle rings around the candles and added some pumpkins too the living room i love love the combo of blue and white with russet this is the breakfast room joe made me this hutch many years ago now the dining room fall bedding in the master and fall pillows in the master seating area and of my home decorated for fall we ll read more 04 30 unknown 0 2014 fall tour 04 30 delicious egg casserole and more the other day i shared with you a breakfast that i had for several friends i have gotten many e mails asking me to share the recipes so here they are egg casserole butter 6 pieces of bread and cut into cubes i used a multi grain bread as a denser bread seems to work best grease a 9x12 pan and spread bread cubes in the pan grate 1 2 lb of sharp cheddar cheese or one bag and cook 1 2 pound of bacon spread cheese over bread then crumble bacon over the cheese beat 6 eggs in 3 cups milk i use skim add s and p to taste pour over mixture refrigerate overnight bake uncovered at 350 for 30 35 mins enjoy french toast casserole ingredients 1 loaf 1 pound french bread i used whole wheat cut into cubes 8 eggs lightly beaten 3 cups 2 milk 4 tsp sugar 1 tsp vanilla extract i used 2 3 4 tsp salt topping 2 tbls butter 3 tbls sugar 2 tsp ground cinnamon maple syrup optional but not to me place bread cubes in a greased 9x13 in baking dish in a large bowl whisk the eggs milk sugar vanilla and salt pour over the bread cover and refrigerate 8 hours or overnight remove from refrigerator 30 minutes before baking dot with butter combine sugar and cinnamon sprinkle over the top cover and bake at 350 for 1 hour or until a knife inserted near center comes out clean let stand for 5 mins serve with warm maple syrup yield 12 servings i always make these for guests and for christmas and or thanksgiving morning i always serve them with a fruit salad too hope you qwill try friends on monday i hosted 11 women for breakfast they are all neighbors and now friends we had a good time and i thought i would share some of it with you i set the kitchen table and the dining room table for the kitchen table i used my everyday fall dishes i also shortened the garland that i made last week so that people could sit at the ends of the table no stacks of dishes for this breakfast everyone just grabbed a plate and went to the breakfast bar to get their food in the dining room i used a mix of plates these that are now my favorites and these on the ends everything had a leaf component that day i set up the buffet area of the kitchen for the breakfast bar i had some mini cranberry orange muffins french toast casserole oh honey with maple syrup for drizzling over it bacon and egg casserole and fruit salad i set up water juices and apple cider here got these great bottles that came with the chalkboard labels and chalk at walmart for less than 5 00 each i am going to get think this room is heaven great mix of pattern shades of the same hue texture etc but with all the upholstered pieces curtains and accessories in shades of red pink would you grow tired of the mix time of year these colors make my heart happy this is the sitting area of the master i come in here and read in the winter or watch tv sometimes i got these pillows last year for a steal they were less than 9 00 each the colors are so beautiful to me as you can see the sun pours in here all afternoon so it is fun to snuggle up in the throw and read on a cold winter day and i have my sweet girl
