in washington now and there isn t muc 2008 4 may 4 shayne and erica finch view my complete profile thursday november 5 2009 i m in w ashington now and there isn t much going on here but lots have been going on in the last couple of years since i have last updated the blog another kid for example his name is holden cavett he was born in february of 2009 and is tons of fun he was born 4 weeks early at 5lb 2oz we took him home 4 days later at 4lb 8oz a month later he got rsv and was in the hopital for 1 more week but he is here and healthy jordynn is 3 now and just starting to get out of the terrible 2 stage she is full of personality and will have you rolling with laughter with some of her comments she looks a lot like me but has her mothers charming personality she gets her way every time erica is just doing what she does best being a mom and a house keeper and very good at both as for me i am getting ready to start school in january at a community college here in seattle i was accepted into the architectural drafting and design program i am looking for a job as we speak it s hard to find a job outside of a small town where you know everyone i just trust in the lord and try my best and he will bless me it s also hard to continue my old hobbies up here because everything is so different the hunting seasons are hard to fallow and they fish for salmon and steelhead up here which isn t a bad thing just takes time to learn oh did i mention i hate the rain after the lord flooded the world in the time of the ark i don t think this part of the country got the memo to stop to take a fishing trip on wednesday while the girls and kids went to new mexico to the zoo this is the fruits of our labors me with a 17 1 2 inch brown trout and dad with 2 nice small mouth bass posted by shayne and erica finch at 5 36 pm 7 comments thursday may 22 2008 discription of an emergency so the other day i walked into my parents house and i found angie s 2 boys sitting on the couch braydon the oldest was watching a movie very calmly but kinnly was obviously very worried about something he was sitting very still and was constantly looking around as though he was waiting for something to jump out and get him being a strange kid i didn t take much head to the situation mommy said we can only wake up aunt faith if there was an emergency he said out of the blue to me i acknowledged his coment but again didn t think much of it until the next question came to me from this troubled child uncle shayne are you scared of emergencies i replied to him with a no and then he asked how do you kill an emergency this was getting very interesting to me so i decided to encourage a little more out of him what do you think an emergency is i asked him i then go an answer that i would never forget well they live in the mountains and the have long nails and spiky hair and green eyes and really tall by time he finished i had a picture in my mind of a child s worst nightmare i then got to thinking about some of the things that we randomly say on a daily bases to a normal adult but we don t think about some of the things that a childs imagination can think up when they aren t sure about the meaning behind it or the meaning of a word we say only call for help if there is an emergency but if a kid was to think that an emergency was a monster that would make perfect sense posted by shayne and erica finch at 7 06 pm 3 comments wednesday may 7 2008 lucky antelope i love to find out the story behind the picture and this picture doesn t have your usual hunting story behind it this hunt started when angie called me and she had just met a guy that had an archery antelope tag in unit one that was having a really hard time getting into the goats so she nominated me to be his personal guide i met him early in the morning with the intention of getting him in close to a big buck we headed to the north side of escadilla where i had been seeing some nice buck this county had a lot of ceder trees which would make a stock a little more comprehensible then the wide open country where antelope are more commonly found we parked the truck in a little wash made the short hike to the top of a mesa and instantly started seeing antelope just does and small buck to start out with then about an hour latter we spotted a real nice buck about 700 yards away we started a stock from ceder tree to ceder tree and made it about half way to him when he picked his head up and stared running right to us we looked at each other like neither of us could believe what was going on then we saw that he was running strait to another buck that was bedded about 150 yards from us that we never saw the two bucks fought there for about 30 seconds and i think the first buck was way over confident about his fighting skills because the other buck kicked the crap out of him the first buck finally retreated down the hill and out of sight the we notice that the first buck was headed strait for us at a fast walk so we got tucked down behind a ceder tree and waited and prayed at about 100 yards he saw us and stared to get really curious about what was behind that tree so he would walk a little bit and stop and stare then walk a little further and stop again after repeating this process about three times i felt my hunter tap me on the shoulder and say i ll wait until he is in the 50 yard range before i shoot i gave him the thumbs up to signify not only that i understand him but i thought that was a wise decision after about 5 min and lots more stop and goes from our little friend i pulled the range finder up to see where he was the numbers read 83 yards and i whispered it to the hunter at the same time i heard him pull his bow back i m taking him he said to my complete amazement i replied not yet but it was too late and i watched that arrow fly threw the air for those of you who don t believe that there is any luck to hunting i am about to prove you wrong that arrow hit that buck who by now had plenty of time to turn and try to out run his fate in the back of his right hind leg and about 3 inches down from his poop hole now for biology 101 there is a major artery that runs down the leg and it happened to be in the same place that the arrow decided to make impact by severing the artery i think the antelope knew the some thing we know he was ours he made a run for it and probably ran about 3 4 of a mile but lucky for is it was in one circle right in front of us in the middle of his 11th circle he fell over dead moral of the story is luck is 99 of successful family members the i should blog that it was the funnest thing to do and everyone was doing it it sounded to me like it was a red neck word for mud wrestling or something and i wanted no part of it when i learned what it was i though i would give it a try and see what this strange addiction was all about for those of you that don t know my family well let me introduce them the picture above is of my beautiful wife erica that adorable thing on her shoulders is my daughter jordynn that is the extent of my family as of today i couldn t have asked for a better wife then erica she supports me in all of my goals in life and helps me in every way possible helps me to achieve them her and i were married on december 28 th 2004 and in august of 2006 we were sealed in the snowflake az temple i have decided to start school full time in the fall so this summer erica and i are both going to be working this summer to save up some money for this next step in life she is working at subway and is having about as much fun as a working mother can have but it will all be worth it in the end erica was at work last week and she was making a sandwich for a gentleman who looked really familiar to her she said the was looking at her like he was expecting her to say something out of the ordinary to her after about 3 min and a few tomatoes later another customer came in and started freaking out about this guy it wasn t until the loco crazy customer said the name steve martin did erica put it all together she made a sub sandwich for the actor steve martin for you old folk who don t know who he is he is the father on father of the bride and in cheaper by the dozen jordynn was born on august 1st 2006 she is now 21 months going on 16yrs i always thought that the terrible twos were reserved for the twos not the ones this caught erica and i totally off guard if i get the chance to balme anyone for this disaster it has to be aunt angie she is a hand full but she can always be the the sweetest thing on earth when she is sleeping i guess that leaves me there is really two words that can sum up my personality hunting and fishing you will find if you visit this sight much that i go on a lot of fishing and hunting trips there will be a lot of pictures on my page well as i said earlier i am going to start school in the fall full time and my 2 year goal is an aas in drafting i love to draw and
