Text of the page (random words):
in structures in medicine faster than scientists ever could it s helping farmers predict weather patterns doctors detect cancer earlier and researchers translate ancient languages it s teaching kids in remote villages the basics of physics and coding giving entrepreneurs in the global south access to markets once locked behind language and location artists are collaborating with ai to birth new genres of music and visual art disabled people are using ai powered tools to regain communication and mobility entire businesses once left behind by bureaucracy and red tape now thrive with ai powered bookkeeping and marketing like fire or the internet or any technology that made the world both more brilliant and more dangerous ai is what we make of it the trick isn t to fear it it s to learn to dance with it without letting it lead us straight off a cliff the myth of control silicon valley still likes to pretend they re holding the leash they re not they re holding onto a tail flailing wildly while the beast sprints into the future chewing through copyright laws job markets and ethics committees like popcorn regulate it some say that s cute like asking a tsunami to fill out a form the technology is evolving faster than our laws our morality or our therapists can keep up by the time a new policy drops ai has already rewritten its own instruction manual and applied for citizenship in the metaverse so what now pet the beast or run we created ai with the arrogance of gods and the foresight of moths now we must live with it or within it because whether you re a tech optimist a digital doomsday prepper or just someone trying to get a good night s sleep without wondering if your toaster is spying on you ai is here the key isn t submission or sabotage it s strategic engagement if you re a writer learn to collaborate with it not compete if you re a student use it as a learning tool not a cheating shortcut if you re a policymaker don t ban it build frameworks around it if you re a small business owner let it level the playing field for you you can t tame it you can t cage it but maybe just maybe you can learn to ride it just don t ask it to write your vows it already knows how the marriage ends final thought we thought ai would be a mirror reflecting us back instead it s become a magnifying glass blowing up our genius our flaws our biases and our beautiful madness the beast is awake and like all great myths it will either become our greatest ally or our most poetic downfall we taught it how to speak now it s rewriting the future in a voice louder than ours author sarurawako wakatama posted on august 14 2025 leave a comment on ai the untamable beast we fed with our wifi africa s paradox rich soil poor people and the complex dance between potential mismanagement and foreign meddling africa is the wealthiest beggar on the planet a continent with gold in the ground and gallows in its treasury every time we blink a new mineral is discovered rare earths lithium gas but our people are still walking for water learning under trees and dodging potholes big enough to swallow a small toyota so how did we get here and more importantly how do we get out the curse of the resource blessing consider the democratic republic of congo it holds over 70 percent of the world s cobalt powering electric cars and smartphones globally yet in kolwezi barefoot children are mining with their hands while politicians live like royalty contracts are signed in europe minerals are shipped to asia and the congolese public is left with dust and debt the resources of africa belong to the people of africa and not to imperialists or foreign capitalists but those resources remain a feeding ground for global powers lubricated by local elite complicity the blessing is not the problem the problem is who benefits from it dependency economics donor money and debt traps zambia became the first african nation to default on its debt during the covid era billions were borrowed for infrastructure projects some necessary many inflated but repayments lined up faster than revenue caught between chinese lenders and eurobond holders zambia became a textbook case of how development loans can morph into diplomatic handcuffs foreign aid once romanticized as a lifeline has become a leash it soothes suffering but often stifles sovereignty to put it plainly aid has become a modern method of colonization it keeps governments afloat but rarely helps nations stand on their own youth unemployment degrees that don t work in nigeria over 500 000 graduates enter the market annually but fewer than 100 000 jobs await them that leaves a sea of skilled ambitious youth chasing opportunities abroad or starting survival hustles japa the slang for fleeing nigeria isn t just a meme it s a manifesto of frustration this generation isn t lazy it is blocked by economic systems that value silence over skill and connections over competence thomas sankara once said let us dare to invent the future but africa s youth are too often left fighting for the present stuck in queues chasing visas and mastering side hustles instead of industries agriculture still hoeing in the digital age zimbabwe s land reform was bold but flawed when land was returned to black citizens it wasn t matched with capital equipment or support a once thriving agricultural economy collapsed creating food insecurity in a land that was once the breadbasket of africa meanwhile kenya s digifarm is showing what s possible through mobile tech farmers now access microloans insurance and planting data the problem has never been the soil it has always been the systems above it patrice lumumba s dream echoes still we are going to show the world what the black man can do when he works in freedom that freedom includes feeding himself with dignity the political economy leaders for life systems on life support uganda s yoweri museveni has ruled since 1986 his longevity reflects a broader trend personal power outlasting institutional maturity constitutions are treated as drafts term limits are optional elections become performances power in many african states is personalized rather than institutionalized leaders invest more in military convoys than school buses until systems outweigh individuals africa remains a hostage to political roulette the informal sector africa s real gdp in accra and abidjan in kigali and kinshasa the real economy doesn t wear suits it wears aprons and secondhand sneakers the informal sector powers homes pays school fees and feeds cities i mean how many of us were put through school by cross boarder mothers yet it is underbanked overpoliced and ignored in policy discussions if this sector were equipped with capital and protected by law it would explode into one of the continent s greatest engines of growth foreign meddling the invisible hand that chokes progress africa s challenges are not homegrown alone many are fertilized by foreign interference cloaked in diplomacy libya is the case study that won t go away under muammar gaddafi libya had free education free healthcare and one of the highest gdps in africa gaddafi proposed a single african currency backed by gold that terrified the west as gaddafi himself declared there is a conspiracy to control africa s resources if we do not take our stand they will take our land in 2011 nato bombed libya in the name of humanitarian intervention what followed was civil war slavery markets and the total collapse of a once functioning state it was less about democracy and more about denying africa economic independence more recently burkina faso under captain ibrahim traoré has shaken the status quo traoré expelled french troops restructured mining contracts and declared the nation s right to self determination he represents a new kind of african leader young defiant and unapologetic our ancestors did not fight colonizers so we could live as modern day slaves under economic chains traoré said in 2023 that message resonated across borders sparking a continental yearning for ownership yet such leaders are often branded threats sanctioned or targeted not because they fail but because they refuse to comply a real solution framework what must be done value addition over raw export africa sits on a mountain of wealth cocoa cobalt copper oil but keeps exporting it raw and cheap meanwhile finished goods made from our own resources return with a hefty price tag it s a losing game ghana grows cocoa but imports swiss chocolate the drc has cobalt but no battery factories nigeria exports crude imports refined fuel zambia has copper but china makes the electronics kenya grows tea europe brands it ethiopia has cotton but shops import clothes raw exports raw deals value addition real wealth by processing our own resources africa can create jobs earn more revenue reduce imports build global brands but we face roadblocks weak infrastructure poor roads power shortages unfair trade policies that favor raw exports lack of investment in manufacturing corruption and policy inconsistency global resistance to africa climbing the value chain the solution industrialize build factories back local entrepreneurs rewrite trade deals demand that what leaves africa is refined branded and african owned let us consume what we produce and produce what we consume pan african economic integration african countries trade more with europe and china than with each other the african continental free trade area afcfta must become operational not just symbolic border infrastructure harmonized tariffs and regional supply chains can cut dependency on exploitative external markets reclaiming political sovereignty no aid package or military base should be accepted without public scrutiny africa must audit its diplomatic relationships and prioritize those based on mutual respect not patronage a tech driven agricultural revolution with 60 percent of the world s arable land africa should never be food insecure investment in irrigation mobile tech and mechanized farming can unlock generational wealth and food sovereignty financial empowerment of the informal sector digital wallets mobile loans and legal protections can transform informal workers into empowered entrepreneurs banking the unbanked isn t charity it s economic strategy leadership accountability and term limits democracy must be more than a word on posters it must be constitutional enforceable and protected by civil society africa doesn t need strong men it needs strong institutions youth led innovation ecosystems africa s youth are digitally native entrepreneurially wired and globally conscious governments should stop overregulating and overtaxing them and instead create innovation hubs startup grants and low interest business loans final word africa will rise when it stops asking for permission africa does not lack brilliance it lacks bold coordinated execution it does not lack resources it lacks rightful ownership and protection of them this is no longer a matter of potential it is a matter of will gaddafi warned sankara led lumumba dreamed nkrumah planned nyerere envisioned today ibrahim traoré is reigniting the fire africa is waking up the continent must stop being the poster child of potential and become the blueprint for power not someday now the future belongs to those who prepare for it today said malcolm x africa s future doesn t lie in foreign embassies or donor summits it lies in its streets in its soil in its youth and in its refusal to stay silent author sarurawako wakatama posted on august 4 2025 august 4 2025 leave a comment on africa s paradox rich soil poor people an introspective analysis of the capitalist nigger by chika onyeani how raw truth ruthless capitalism and real self interrogation could be the kick in the rear black communities didn t know they needed ah the capitalist nigger a title that slaps you across the face before you even crack open the cover chika onyeani s polemic isn t for the faint hearted or the easily offended it s not wrapped in academic euphemisms or diplomatic padding no it s blunt raw almost jarring and exactly what it intends to be a brutally honest call for economic liberation aimed squarely at black people globally particularly in africa and the diaspora love it or loathe it the book punches through comfort zones and forces introspection in ways most empowerment texts tiptoe around it s a manifesto a grenade and perhaps in the most uncomfortable way a mirror the premise capitalism or bust onyeani s core argument is deceptively simple black people remain economically disenfranchised not because of racism alone though he doesn t dismiss its existence but because of their mindset he introduces the concept of the spider web doctrine drawing inspiration from asians and jews whom he credits with building self sufficient economically powerful networks that circulate wealth internally in contrast he laments that black people tend to spend outwardly enriching everyone but themselves he doesn t suggest they lack talent intelligence or potential quite the opposite he argues they are being outplayed in the global capitalist game because they are trying to play it with emotionalism dependency and borrowed ideologies a sting the consumer slave one of onyeani s most repeated and damning criticisms is of the so called consumer slave the black individual who despite access to income contributes nothing to the creation of wealth for his or her own community it s sharp it s crude but it s hard to argue with when you think of how globally black dollars disproportionately fund the economies of other communities he asks where are the black owned multinational companies where are the global black brands built without dependency on government handouts or affirmative action why are we generation after generation marching for jobs instead of creating them his answer it s the mindset the mental laziness the entitlement complex the lack of discipline and the refusal to embrace the ruthlessness of capitalism introspective moment uncomfortable but true let s pause before we throw the book across the room and write onyeani off as a self hating contrarian maybe we need to ask is he wrong as we walk through shopping malls plastered with gucci and apple logos brands we don t own eating fast food at franchises we don t franchise consuming music we don t distribute is it entirely unfair to admit that perhaps we ve mastered cultural production but not capital retention it s sobering as individuals many of us hustle hard degrees side hustles talent but how many of us are building generational wealth how many are creating ecosystems not just egos why his spider web doctrine deserves a closer look the spider is onyeani s economic hero silent strategic and self reliant it builds its web from its own internal resources and never begs for help it doesn t demand a quota system or cry foul when the wind blows it rebuilds that s the archetype onyeani wants us to adopt he argues tha...
