waiting in the last cold wet and lonely room i d ever wait in it wasn t my first rodeo so i kind of knew what to expect but i just couldn t figure out why i wasn t finding my forever home after a year of here and there i thought for sure someone would see something special in me but instead i was tossed around from place to place with humans who never took the time to get to know me i was their play toy and when i didn t understand something or did something they didn t like they beat me i m only a year old and already know so much about what s expected of me i shouldn t make any mistakes because i have to be perfect it s wrong if i m hungry before you want to feed me chewing on stuff is worth a beating and barking to expressmyself deserves a swift kick in the ass to the streets to fend for myself you see i know what s expected of me now or so i thought my name was emma and i never came when they called me when my new family named me chelsea i showed them right away that i was pleased and came running every time they called i love my new dog friends even though they don t really love me yet i finally learned what a ball is for and when the gate is open i want to stay i eat shield around us that gives us a sense of protection as children we need this sense of protection to obtain some type of stability in a not so stable world stability helps us grow and explore and develope to our full potential as we become adults we begin to see the truerealities of life and realize we must let go of our fairy tales and face life head on stability now seems unattainable at best and suddenly our childhood is over i enjoyed my fairy tale and and the protection i thought it gave me but my fairy tale died long ago with the reality that life is no fairy tale this world is this morning picking tomatoes and was suddenly accompanied by the most beautiful blue dragonfly i ran inside to grab my camera hoping he d still be there when i got back he was i kept still as they usually fly away with any movement at all but movement or not he decided to stay i could tell he was watching me with an inquisitive eye and i tested my theory by walking around a bit and then approaching him he sat still on a tomato for a while still watching me then moved to another then i spoke to him and the most amazing thing happened he flew over and landed on my toe he sat there for a long while which gave me time to take this amazing shot they say that dragonflies are a sign of transformation and renewal maybe just maybe mother nature was trying to speak to me posted on june 28 for most of us there is a sense of no fear throwing sand into the air as we watch it fall as if not a grain could catch our eye to lay in the grass as if no bugs or spiders or poisonous snakes existed and to run and play as if every obstacle that could potentially harm us would magically move aside as we grew slightly older our sense of fear ballooned and our risk taking became somewhat of a game i dare you was a part of life and to back down was almost never an option it s a miracle thinking back that some of us even made it to adulthood life is grand that way pulling us out of trouble sometimes before we even get there now we re all grown and some of us are in need of serious therapy to overcome these fears whatever happened to that sense of wonder and that freedom from fear did we finally take a risk and pay the price did we have kids of our own did we stop believing in our higher power were we told too many times that it couldn t be done let s get back to where it all began childhood and rethink what it would mean for us to live fear free our daily lives are consumed with what we can t or shouldn t do why aren t we as adults capable of making our own conscience decisions and isn t it our right to make that decision knowing there will be some type of consequence thereafter it s not about getting it right every time it s about making a conscience decision and being ok
