chemicals are affecting all of us in some way or another think about the last time you got a headache for no apparent reason could it be possible that someone had recently sprayed perfume or pesticides near you without you knowing it had you recently used scented laundry detergent or clorox to clean with do you get headaches or feel nauseous from being around people wearing perfume or cologne do you feel you need to hold your breath when you go down the detergent aisle at the grocery store all these things are your body s way of telling you something is wrong with the air you re breathing while an mba in health care may help you understand the whys and wherefores of the medical issues it doesn t take a masters degree to listen to your body and know that things are not right it s like playing russian roulette you never know how long your immune system can hold out before breaking down some people may never reach the point of chronic illness that i did but most people are being affected possibly without realizing it cancer has increased dramatically since world war ii after all the chemicals came out attention deficit disorder is on the rise more and more of our children are being put on toxic brain altering drugs like ritalin when simply cleaning up their environment could solve their problems chronic fatigue syndrome alzheimer s disease allergies asthma lupus fibromyalgia and multiple sclerosis are also increasing all these illnesses could very well have a chemical connection to their cause or at the very least these patients would benefit from using less toxic products pretty much any immune system disorder could be helped by a cleaner environment and by using safer products the products we use on our skin are absorbed directly into the bloodstream the reason why nitroglycerine nicotine and hormone patches work the chemicals we breathe such as perfumes formaldehyde pesticides etc all go straight to our brains and can cause low level to severe damage similar to how someone can snort cocaine or glue to get a high start reading labels check for petro chemicals formaldehyde and fragrance and avoid them as much as possible a clue that an ingredient may be a petro chemical is the prop prefix a clue that an ingredient releases formaldehyde is quaternium be careful about products labeled fragrance free or unscented don t trust them read the label and be sure they don t list fragrance or masking fragrance don t put anything on your skin you d be afraid to eat because the end result is the same before i got sick i had no clue that i was slowly being poisoned by products that i assumed were safe since they were on the market if this could happen to me you could be next we had our first snow of the season yesterday and that in burns ks but we are sleeping in cottonwood falls ks cooking here working here etc etc etc etc and believe it or not pretty much settled main question from most of my long time mcs sisters has been is your home mcs safe for you and i can answer yes we have all of our air purifiers going new filters every place etc and i have tons of mcs signs on the front doors my mcs safe home signs on the front doors windows i have been told are the talk of the town and i say wonderful the more people who read it maybe the information will soak into just a few of them to be educated about mcs ok i can dream can t i we are a small tourist type town have many out of town out of state out ot country visitors and we see many many many many people each week reading my mcs information signs on the front of our home and they have no idea we can see them or even hear what they are saying our home is two 1880 s buildings that have been many different businesses over the years we knew when we bought here there was much work that needed to be done especially the roofs and we are in the process of trying to get most of the outside work done before winter cold weather also would like to be able to finish our move get our other properties on the market for sale we now have a land line and for my mcs sisters who said i called your cell phone we didn t have cell service in burns ks we have 3 ft thick stone walls in our home now no cell service here either we finally have internet also all of this with service men with scented products and is a story i could write a book about and as i type this we have two tv service guys in the house now but back to internet when my mcs sisters say did you get my e mail i m saying no as when we finally had internet i deleted 3 452 e mails i tried to scan through part of them but i had mcs brain fog so i finally just deleted them all if it was important please try again yes my e mail address is still the same cell phone doesn t work if you want my new land line you know the drill e mail me many of you have already found how to get a hold of me you girls never cease to amaze me lol i can run but i can t hide ya find me how to get a hold of me as week before the storm we had wind rain hail on friday night we put lawn chairs plants out front gary i have our morning coffee out here before the town wakes up then we go out again when the town goes to bed the street is quiet next spring we will do painting of the buildings one of my mcs sisters who her profession is restoring historic buildings has helped me with paint colors different ways to show off the details most important now is the roofs which needed care for some time i have had many say i want to see inside what you have done well it it our private home i m not willing to share our private home i ll share one picture of our family room look at molly on the couch our family room is 25 by 22 or something like that or bigger and has the front door show windows we have 12 ft high ceilings and 3 ft thick walls only windows in the front back of the buildings our bed rm is big so dark so quiet we sleep like logs if the town blows away we won t know until we go up front as we can t hear a thing back there i have lots of wall space for all my art work and have it all through the house we have 2 bedrooms family room dinning room kitchen living room 3 bathrooms a large walk in pantry 2 big storage rooms attic over all and a 4 car car port an rv carport we are making 2 of the carports into a back patio area later the fish ponds will get moved over also and the container garden and no yard work and to the people who have said to us i m sorry you turned two buildings on main street into your home i say come buy any of the many many many for sale buildings on main st put your business in we are doing major roof work to the buildings doing many many many many many repairs to the buildings that the previous owners who were dear friends of ours were not able to do in the last several years because of their health we plan on painting the buildings we have only just begun we welcome anyone who wants to start a business in cottonwood falls there are plenty of buildings on main st for sale to do so in the buildings we bought had no one in them for over 2 years the roofs really needed attention but maybe people would rather they sat empty for more years let them fall in maybe people don t know as much as they think they do lol we are happy as many people who have told us they are very happy we bought the buildings happy to see all we are doing to maintain them and i guess we will ignore the others who complain to us lol amen well more pictures next time and i never do a blog post with out some information about multi chemical sensitivities so
