primary idea contained in the beginning the declaration of independence declares that all men are created equal with respect to the unalienable rights endowed by their creator this is the foundational principle upon which our great nation was established critics accurately point out that the idea did not apply to everyone at the time however they miss the point that at the time those who supported this idea recognized the hypocrisy regarding the status of african slaves as often happens in history the ideal is sacrificed for the immediate concerns or expediency this is most evident when years later these same men wrote a constitution which failed to eliminate slavery for fear of losing the new nation they fought so hard to create some critics of the usa like to focus on the apparent hypocrisy about equality for all in the declaration while the criticism is valid the critics themselves fail to consider liberty as not just a foundational principle but a promise to be achieved it is the beginning of a journey of a nation of free people striving to keep that promise it was not the end in and of itself it was a grand idea expressed by men who were fallible just as fallible as all humans at every point in history to criticize a nation today because of historical failures is self destructive in my opinion it does nothing to further the idea of liberty and justice for all third i want to address those living in our country who seem to have nothing good to say about it there are those among us who seem to want to destroy the country in hopes of replacing it with their own notion of utopia the same utopian hellscape our founders declared was antithetical to liberty and the normal course of human events so to these critics who wish to do nothing but tear down the country i say you can pound sand better yet you can eat sand and choke on it you can live your lives with venom in your heart and poison in your words you do not have to go to the parades or fly a flag or
