s not just a blog it s not just writing it s a place where strangers slowly become something more they become family in the quietest way possible steps of purpose faith growth purpose mervin silence june 11 2026 june 11 2026 steps of purpose 5 comments if you ever slow down long enough to watch an ant you ll notice something powerful it is always doing something no spotlight no applause no audience yet it keeps moving carrying building and preparing the ant does not wait for perfect conditions to be productive it simply works in that small creature god hides a loud message at first glance the ant looks insignificant easy to overlook easy to step over but what it lacks in size it makes up for in discipline go to the ant thou sluggard consider her ways and be wise proverbs 6 6 kjv notice what scripture says consider her ways in other words slow down and learn from something small here s the question have you been underestimating what god can do through consistency the ant teaches us something many people struggle with doing the right thing even when no one is watching it gathers in silence it builds without applause it prepares in seasons when others think nothing is happening this is where many believers get discouraged because we confuse silence with absence silence however is often where formation happens commit thy works unto the lord and thy thoughts shall be established proverbs 16 3 kjv god is not only watching public moments he is shaping destiny in private discipline let s be honest there are seasons where life feels like it is moving too slowly you are praying but results feel delayed you are working but progress feels hidden you are believing but nothing seems visible yet that is where the ant speaks the loudest because the ant does not measure progress by speed it measures it by faithfulness so ask yourself today am i being consistent or am i only motivated when i feel like it one of the most powerful truths about the ant is this it prepares before the crisis comes it gathers in summer for the winter it has not yet experienced the ants are a people not strong yet they prepare their meat in the summer proverbs 30 25 kjv that is wisdom while others react the ant prepares spiritually this is a reminder that god often uses hidden seasons to build what public seasons will require what you are doing in silence is not wasted it is storage for your future we live in a world that celebrates visibility but god builds through faithfulness the ant will never trend it will never be celebrated but it survives because it is consistent and that raises another question for you would you still be faithful if no one ever noticed your progress in god s kingdom consistency is greater than attention take a moment and ask yourself where has god called me to be more consistent am i waiting for motivation instead of practicing discipline what small thing have i been ignoring that actually holds my future very often destiny is not found in big moments it is built in small ones repeated daily you may feel unseen right now you may feel like your efforts are small you may feel like nothing major is happening yet the ant reminds you that small steps taken faithfully create strong futures so don t stop building in silence because god is not just watching your outcome he is honoring your consistency and what feels small today may be the foundation of something far greater tomorrow steps of purpose faith growth purpose mervin fitzgerald matthew stepsofpurpose faithjourney christiangrowth biblicalwisdom faithinaction request from blogger eileen guyadeen asking for urgent prayer as her daughter is currently very ill and in significant pain and honestly it stopped me in my tracks the reality is beyond screens beyond writing beyond daily posts and routines there is real life real families real pain and real faith needed in real time and this is one of those moments i may not have all the details but i know enough about god to know this he listens and answers to the prayers of his children so today i want us to pause what we re doing not out of obligation but out of love and simply stand in agreement for healing strength and peace for eileen and her daughter and for comfort for the family walking through this valley wherever you are reading this from i invite you to join me not as a crowd of strangers but as a body of believers lifting one voice to heaven lord we lift up this precious child to you right now you see every pain every moment of discomfort every tear that has fallen unseen we ask for your healing hand to touch her body completely bring relief where there is pain bring strength where there is weakness bring peace where there is fear surround her family with your presence in a way that cannot be explained only experienced let hope rise even in this difficult season and let your love be felt in every moment we trust you even when we do not understand in jesus name amen if you feel led please take a moment to pray too sometimes the most powerful thing we can do is simply agree in faith for someone else steps of purpose faith growth purpose mervin fitzgerald matthew june 10 2026 june 10 2026 steps of purpose 2 comments a queue of thoughts stood waiting in my mind each one quietly insisting it had its place some were loud with certainty others softer carrying small qualms i had tried to set aside at the front one thought slipped out with a quip light almost harmless just enough to ease the tension for a moment i smiled but only briefly because the qualms don t really disappear they wait patient unrushed but still present when everything else grows quiet and maybe that s the thing about life we often try to rush past what unsettles us to answer everything with a quick quip when some things are meant to sit with us a little longer in the end even the waiting isn t wasted it teaches us how to listen more carefully even in the queue of our own thoughts and in all of it i m learning that nothing in the queue of life is beyond the gentle hand of god steps of purpose faith growth purpose mervin fitzgerald matthew 3tc threethingschallenge ttc s a song that always puts you in a good mood hmm there are so many but i ll mention one just to appease the prompt stronger by samuel medas the line from the song you re making me stronger always speaks to me it reminds me that god is not only with us during the good times but also in the struggles disappointments and seasons that test our faith what i love about this song is that it doesn t pretend life is always easy instead it points to the truth that god can use every circumstance to shape us into who he wants us to be looking back over my own journey i can see that some of the seasons i would never have chosen were the very ones god used to strengthen my faith the most so whenever this song comes on i m reminded that god is still at work even when i don t understand the process and that is always enough to lift my spirit steps of purpose faith growth purpose mervin fitzgerald matthew samuelmedas stronger christianmusic gospelmusic faithjourney trustgod have you ever tried to look through glasses that were smudged or covered in dust everything is still there but nothing looks right shapes blur colours fade you squint trying to make sense of what you re seeing but something is off that s often what life feels like when our perspective gets clouded we still move through the day still pray still make decisions but somewhere along the way the way we see god ourselves and our purpose becomes unclear pain disappointment fear and even being constantly busy slowly build up like dirt on glass and the hardest part is this you don t always notice when your vision is getting worse you just start adjusting to the blur here s the good news god never intended for his children to live squinting at life his word brings us back to clarity psalm 119 105 kjv says thy word is a lamp unto my feet and a light unto my path a lamp doesn t show the whole road at once it shows just enough for the next step similarly god s guidance is not always overwhelming it s steady yet even that next step becomes hard to see when the lens of our heart is clouded when we drift away from god s word other voices begin to take the lead fear starts interpreting our future comparison distorts our identity pain rewrites our expectations and slowly what god called purpose starts to look like pressure and what he called growth starts to feel like failure the truth didn t change the lens did that s why jesus said in john 8 31 32 kjv if ye continue in my word then are ye my disciples indeed and ye shall know the truth and the truth shall make you free freedom begins with clarity because it s hard to walk boldly in purpose when your sight is constantly being questioned by confusion so the question is how do we clean the lens again the answer we return to the word not as a routine alone but as a surrender we let it correct us realign us and refresh our thinking sometimes it comforts us gently other times it confronts us deeply but every time it clears us we also pray with honesty lord show me where my vision has been distorted show me where i ve agreed with something that doesn t align with your truth that kind of prayer invites god to wash the lens from the inside out slowly things will begin to shift what once looked like delay starts to reveal timing what once looked like rejection starts to reveal protection what once felt like confusion begins to show that god was still working in the background the situation may not change immediately but your sight does that changes everything because when your vision is clear you stop reacting from fear and start responding from faith you stop being led by noise and start being led by truth you stop living blurred and start walking in light maybe today is simply a reminder to clean the glasses again not because you ve failed but because clarity is still available god is faithful to restore sight through his word steps of purpose faith growth purpose mervin fitzgerald matthew stepsofpurpose faith adult self is not emotionally prepared to recover as a teenager i had a small exercise book filled with poems yes poems i say that now with confidence but i suspect some of them were just emotional confusion arranged in line breaks i wrote them seriously too very seriously the kind of seriousness that says one day the world will understand this the world did not in fact get the chance because the book is gone vanished no farewell tour no archival dignity just missing it s like it entered witness protection and refused to testify i ve searched mentally through old boxes old rooms old i ll sort this out later piles nothing at this point i assume it got tired of me and left and honestly i can t blame it sometimes i wonder what was in it deep poetry possibly teenage genius unlikely a dramatic metaphor about rain representing inner turmoil almost guaranteed and yet there s a strange respect i have for that lost book because back then i wasn t trying to be good i was just trying to be heard by paper now i write better hopefully but i also suspect that book had something i still chase absolute confidence with absolutely no evidence anyway if you find an old exercise book toward god rather than seeking the spotlight 4 if you believe in reincarnation would you like to come back as a a wild animal b a bird c an insect d a sea creature my answer i don t believe in
