something i remember you had funny posts i m always funny how long has it been since we talked 8 years maybe 9 it has been that long well people grow out of their imaginary friends you know leave a work honestly i do think that i am a stellar worker but so is everyone else what sets each other apart is not so much how well you write or how error free you are it s the personality and attitude sincerity empathy and the by product of empathy self inquisition it is easy to point fingers and assign blame but i always believe myself to be as imperfect as i am perfect people fail because they focus on people or things that are beyond their control they dwell on others doings and they get caught up imagining a world of what ifs they think it is unfair that they enter a world where the pieces are not already fixed for them but they fail to recognise that this this is exactly where their opportunity to shine lies and the more you propagate the negative thoughts the harsher you react to the source of negativity the easier it is to get trapped in a vicious cycle of inapt and then i questioned myself if i m so good why did i have to quit the last time except quitting wasn t a sign of weakness if anything i was fully capable of the job it was a matter of whether or not i allow the negativity to consume me to a point where i become part of the cycle i m not saying the people there were all nasty you can ignore people but you can t ignore the framework and infrastructure in which you are forced to function under a certain set of circumstances bring out the worst in people figuratively and literally to reach this unassuming homely restaurant amid what s termed wild wild west of singapore it s a strange date to travel the distance albeit in a car to bring some meaning to commencement of a new life except i started this new life way before the commencement ceremony i ve been asked why i don t choose to take a break of a few months before plunging into the working world i ve told the same story of how i wanted to start work later but somehow ended up reporting to work 20 hours after my last paper what i did not tell most is that there s a desire to set my parents mind at ease as soon as possible even if it means a difference of one or two months i m the youngest child and watching me land a decent job is like a huge check off their parental to do list 8 it was obvious there was something brewing here so we left them alone with the giant pandas the rest of us lepak kids sat in the shade having senseless conversations as always a good half an hour later they emerged from the exit of where the pandas reside and something about their demeanour after that tells me there s more to it than meets the panda eye 9 we must be the first and only people to take graduation shots at changi airport why did we do it well why not 11 imagine a tiny cab speeding through the streets of bangkok now imagine 6 full grown adults squeezing into said cab with 5 of us at the back seats now imagine this awkward seating arrangement sustaining for 50 minutes it was horribly uncomfortable yet we were all so ironically for the lack of words comfortable in each others companionship these are the people whom i grew up with who look back with me and laugh at all the silliest things we did that 50 minutes ride by the way was to get us to somewhere that did not remind us of central bangkok it was worth the ride every minute of it 12 he was standing behind me when the building lighted up and christmas songs started playing it was reassuring i know he ll always be behind me supportive and that when i turn around he ll be there to hold my hand and let me know everything will be alright last year we spent a cold christmas up sapa vietnam and it was magical this good it made my day that was subsequently unmade by work leave a comment strange encounter october 13 2013 by syndicate74 yesterday i overheard the weirdest tele conversation on a bus guy seated next to me over the phone hey you know the tattoo artist that you always go can give me the contact oh no lah i want to get a tattoo to cover up something it s like a scar no lah not birthmark lah if birthmark then all along have why would i want to cover it up now it s aiyah you know right recently i just broke up then there s this scar my ex girlfriend bit me when i broke up with her so there s the teeth marks i couldn t help but chuckled leave a comment about the only thing i can blog about nowadays september 25 2013 by syndicate74 more than once i ve been reminded at work to outshine others to out perform outwit and outlast hope you got the survivor reference people around working with me my boss in particular is for some reason really impressed with how i m performing at work and kept pushing me to the front stage to the point i said out loud it s not my intention to compete with him guy from another department working on a project with me to which he replied i want you to compete with him maybe i m too new to understand this animosity today i made a stand and said no to my boss the story goes that a staff from another department made a mistake which implicated my department and we had to follow up the case with a lot more work they had explained recognised the mistake apologised and everyone moved on then there s this database that tracks the errors any department makes the cases are reviewed and if the error is significant or causes enough distress management steps in and starts thinking of preventive measures to prevent recurrence the logic is sound on paper but sometimes human error is inevitable so tracking becomes a nuisance when the preventive action is always counselling the staff and re emphasis the importance etc going back to the case so my boss wanted me to log this case and tag it to the department at fault it s akin to catching them by surprise because management will almost definitely go to them and question why they did not log this case and pursue the root cause of the error i said no once but my boss thinks since they haven t logged it we have to report it to make sure this case does not just go untracked i said okay then let me tell them to log it after some back and forth i kind of managed to convince him that we should not log it quietly and let the matter blow up in their face i got to convince another colleague i work with that though her hatred for anyone in that department runs really deep i must say i m getting a little too high profile for my liking just so happens several high profile cases fall onto my lap i have no idea why and arising from other factors here and there i am getting involved in more and more high profile projects than many of the managers that joined much earlier than i did having said that i m starting to doubt how unbreakable i truly am i fell sick on monday but the silver lining is that i got the much deserved much needed extra rest and returned to work fresh i am also real thankful to addison who absorbed my complaints and stress like a dustbin and surprised me a couple of times with the night delivery blackball is awesome by the way love it try it if you ve adult august 21 2013 by syndicate74 it is very different from being a student very very different these days there is no mid terms or exams or final presentations to signify the end to end off the semester these days it is an incessant climb upwards i kinda miss lectures assignments and school in general school is a place where you can achieve whatever desired outcome by putting in the necessary inputs you want a mug like a cow you want friends be nice be sincere you want to relax skip the lecture easy it ain t as straightforward at the workplace you can work like a cow be nice be sincere but if the boss doesn t like you the boss doesn t like you it s tiring having to please others and it s even more tiring having to fend against others i never had this issue at work in the past the work culture plays a role i guess or perhaps i am still new to this job don t get me wrong i m not complaining i think i ve landed a pretty decent job and i am coping surprisingly well at work everybody seem to love me note seem to it s complicated i can tell you more if we are close on a separate note i had the chance to work from home twice a month and today s the day it feels really good to work within the comforts of home without the need to put on formal wear or make up i managed to clear lots of stuffs pending on my to do list and it feels oh so great ithasbeen3months leave a
