breather throughout our decades of fishing experiences nothing holds a candle to this particular encounter it was certainly once in a lifetime and we walk away feeling truly blessed to have had experienced it though it was only a by catch it turned out to be the highlight of the session if not lives a hot day s dismal fishing had turned into a pretty eventful one we had trudged some way off the beaten track in search of the humble bass and maybe even a yellowbelly perch we found none but after hours of hopping vibes off the bottom we had a take and a good one at that a heavy slugfest ensued and before long we were staring at a truly strange creature it was a lungfish sporting legs and super large scales the encounter was surreal we ve seen publications documenting lungfish as by all excited about the brand spankin new flip jig from feed lures first chance we got to introduce them to some local residents we wasted no time the gts reacted to these fluttering wizards when jerked the erratic darts seemed irresistible this is the flip15 sized right and properly weighted at 15gm to deal with shore casting work when let to sink to the bottom we picked up a striped snapper then it was back to the pelagics with another feisty gt which went hard on the ultralight major craft ms x spin rod outfit the feed flip jig is rigged with an assist hook together with a trailing stinger hook fun in the sun with brutes in confined spaces rod in question is the amazingly sensitive major craft corzza in 5 10lb guise this gt did well but it wasn t good enough it fell for the natural swimming ima sasuke shad 75 spybaiting turned a quiet morning on its head this fat grouper was more than a handful on the light outfit the original spybait the duo spin bait in its largest size the 90 another grouper came to play its the duo spin bait again we have to go slow to fool these red drums easily the most finicky fish to catch there isn t a better lure for slow dead sticking than the jackall baby giron boy do these red drums go hard when hooked the same works the same for the grouper population as well and before long the major craft corzza is loaded up tight the jackall baby giron is gold meanwhile its hard to go pass a good soft plastic to turn around a slow day with these groupers worked with the lithe major craft sky road spin stick this jackall glossy shad scores a long and lean and very well proportioned estuary cod showed its health with a great skirmish on the major craft corzza rod the jackall baby giron doesn t stop yet another fat grouper in successive casts can t speak highly enough of the jackall baby giron the groupers seemed to be lining up for a shot each the jackall baby giron stays intact despite the onslaught and continues to score but alas the lure is soon
