horse disturber horse disturber ask archive francis 18 please posted 2 years ago with 29 notes personal and reblogs blog 18 i m 28 they them or anything i don t care likes follows from serpentface main art blog i like wildlife biology and ancient history i don t tag triggers by default so tread carefully no judgment i just don t if you have something major feel free to ask and i will try to accommodate tagged doont mind me just creating a minimalist pinned post posted 12 minutes ago with 2 notes i was a fan hater in a pretending i don t like this but i do way of david clemet davies animal pov fiction in middle school and i ve been revisiting it over the past few years they re mostly pretty solid but have some uh noticeable trends his first book firebringer is fairly solid ya xenofiction from the pov of red deer in i think late medieval scotland centering on a story about a prophecy that a deer will be born with an unusual marking and will save its kind from some great threat which is an evil intersex deer who was cast out of his birth community and is mainly evil because he is intersex this was followed by ya xenofiction novel the sight which is about a prophecy that a wolf s will be born with an unusual marking and will save its kind from a great threat which is an evil infertile wolf who was cast out of her birth community and is mainly evil because she s infertile then he wrote the sequel fell which was bad then comes his final ya xenofiction novel scream of the white bear which is about a prophecy that a polar bear will be born with an unusual marking and will save its kind from a great threat haven t read it unknown whether there s an evil bear with sex trait reproductive differences tagged i m rereading firebringer i remember that as being his best one hands down i like clemet davies prose for the most part i think these books are solid ya besides fell which is truly awful i have a copy that i borrowed from my ex like a decade ago and reread it a few years ago and was like whewwwwwww this is silly and poorly constructed but i m rereading this in my late 20s so that might be part of it and then i reread the sight which is silly but leaps and bounds better firebringer gets watership down comparisons it s definitely referential to it but i think richard adams executes xenofiction as a medium good deal more deftly than clemet davies part of that is that watership down manages to build a full story out of things that could legit happen to rabbits but part that stands out for me is that both authors are interested in the folklore of their animal people and adam s is a lot more convincing it has the sort of incommunicable feeling that real folklore has which is really hard to accomplish as a single person constructing a culture s emergent storytelling i have so much admiration for writers who can really execute on that adams writes something that i believe is the folklore of his humanized rabbits clemet davies doesn t really hit that mark with his humanized deer and wolves anyway i am enjoying firebringer it is silly and prophecy oriented stories don t really appeal to me unless you re doing something unusual with it morrowind is the only thing i can think of off the top of my head that really hits that mark for me but it s also ya and i m almost 30 he s a good ya author posted 24 minutes ago with 10583 notes sexchangedotcom ancient roman women whose husband keeps looking at the neighbour s boy quintus and he never looks at her that way and she can t even chainsmoke in the kitchen because they don t have marlboro blues in ancient times and she can t even go to the club because they haven t discovered drum and bass music yet her friend clodia s having visions of a woman named doechii but neither of them knows what that means tagged i made sure my iron age esque fiction was set in a place with tobacco and culturally standard semi recreational use mainly so that my women could chainsmoke in the kitchen but it s just not the same with a pipe posted 2 hours ago with 2566 notes incognitopolls how much of the time do you wear prescription glasses or contacts all the time they only come off if they d be in the way for certain things most of the time but sometimes i just don t wear them whenever i go somewhere but not when i m at home whenever i m at home but not when i go somewhere only at school work another specific span of time only to see particular things e g to read a sign then i take them off again sometimes based on some other criteria never but i probably should wear them never i have vision problems that can t be corrected with prescription lenses never my vision is 20 20 or better we ask your questions anonymously so you don t have to submissions are open on the 1st and 15th of the month tagged i forget that i m in a minority for having perfect vision nerfed by hearing problems though posted 4 hours ago with 57683 notes downwithpeople posted 7 hours ago with 4941 notes gutsandeverythingg gutsandeverythingg i wish there was some kind of picture featuring a wolf and a lamb bunny and it would be some sort of metaphore like i just think it would be badass but i m probably alone in this niche nobody likes this im probably fucked in the head posted 22 hours ago with 16 notes fact check true posted 1 day ago with 38 notes taraxippos longest serpentface lore post of all time coming tomorrow maybe longest post of all time dropping imminently tagged i could easily hit a 10000 word count but have to stop at some point here though the things i have left to write will probably get it there amending previous statement to i could easily hit a 15000 word count posted 2 days ago with 35 notes i like the parts of the iliad where the poem takes a sideline to be like and then he lifted a boulder it would take ten men of the modern day to lift such a boulder but he did it effortlessly men these days can t lift a boulder to save their life but back in the good old days guys were just doing shit like that all the time it was nothing to them tagged edit i apparently forgot how to spell boulder posted 2 days ago with 19 notes how common is it to have a functional command for a dog that s basically go away i feel like this is either something almost everyone has but doesn t talk about much or is extremely niche with no in between like at least in my family go lay down is said to dogs to mean i m not giving you attention right now go do something else and if the dog is hovering around you expectantly it knows that whatever it s expecting isn t happening right now and settles down i m sure the actual words don t matter much and the dog is mostly evaluating tone expression context clues but like it works and is not a product of direct training tagged i m waiting for it to cool down a little to give my dog her long walk and she keeps hovering outside my door because she s only gotten a short one and knows another is coming at some point so am having to utilize this whenever i get up and do anything because she thinks walk time is now posted 2 days ago with 418 notes ceausescue imagine how awkward it must have been to be a king right at the tail end of your civilization s retainer sacrifice period sorta hesitantly making plans to have the pit installed in your tomb and looking around trying to
