cj jennilyn proulx saturday february 2 2013 2013 it better get better well here we are again almost another year later i m going to stop breaking promises and say if you see a blog from me again this year consider yourself lucky work has been far busier than i could have imagined but i am loving it more and more every day not everyone can say that so i feel pretty blessed let me catch you up on the last year basically during this time i was just doing this awesome iphone photo courtesy of bride s mother thanks to shari as cj was doing this but during this time there was a highlight where i got the opportunity to shoot a wedding at a winery in napa valley it was an awesome experience plus i got to tour san fransisco i loved it i want to take cj there sometime soon the scenery food and experience in general was great oh and what were the girls doing apparently a lot of this tessa is even sleeping on my lap as i type i must think it s cute or something because my phone is full of these that honestly sums up the last year everything else has been pretty shitty pardon my french but there really is no other way around it this summer annette had a huge obstacle thrown her way when she was diagnosed with breast cancer about the same time we were all notified her brother was about to lose his battle with pancreatic cancer the same cancer that took their other brother she has done amazing through her treatments both physically and mentally as she has done with all the other trials in her life i have never met such a positive person in my life it sounds cliche but she truly is inspirational she has gone through far more than anyone else i know and remains to be strong and dedicated to her family and the lord on my wedding day not only did i gain a wonderful husband but i also gained an awesome family i am beyond proud to call annette my mom just when you feel like you ve had enough and that life will soon get on track god likes to play tricks on you to keep you humble shortly after the new year we were visiting cory in the hospital while he was on the road to recovery from a bad case of pneumonia and we were discussing how things were different this year with not going on a family trip and that we didn t go out on their boat after talking briefly about how things will be better this coming year after annette is in full remission and we can carry on with our family traditions i jokingly said why is it that bad things have to happen to good people makes me just want to be a little bad not bad enough i will go to hell obviously just enough so nothing bad happens to me maybe you should be a little bad too cory little did i know that was the last time i was going to crack a joke cory s way three days later we had to say goodbye our brother i still feel like i m in a state of shock and that it hasn t hit me yet i am not okay with this in fact i am still very angry and bitter i know this is a natural part of the grieving process but i really am beyond frustrated i have taken cory s death far worse than my own father s passing which certainly wasn t easy at all i feel for jeri i can t even comprehend what she is feeling i feel for the boys the loss of my father doesn t even compare i feel for annette her love and need to be around her children is eminent i feel for myself that i could have been a better sister i feel for my children that they won t have their uncle cory i would see cory with other babies and i couldn t wait to see him with mine i feel for cj it especially kills me to see cj hurting so much and trying to hide from it all i want so badly to take his pain away i need there to be a reset button can someone find me one of those i know staples has an easy button it s gotta be in the same aisle right though now we have to go on without cory here physically we are all better people for having him here while we did it doesn t seem fair it doesn t seem right they say there is a reason for everything and that we cannot see the bigger picture yet but i have a hard time believing that at the moment i truly hope i will gain that faith i want to but i can t right now one thing i do know is where there is pain there is joy we are all hurting so much because cory means so much to each of us he was is a light and a beacon to us all he filled our lives with joy service and most of all love i will be forever grateful of the example he set as a brother husband son and most of all friend on that note may the rest of my blogging this year or the lack thereof be happy and positive now if you will excuse me i gotta go find something just a little bit bad to do composed by jennilyn proulx at 5 26 pm no comments friday april 6 2012 winds of change the winds of change are bringing in a lot more than just spring this month earlier in march i started compiling lists of what i wanted to get done for spring cleaning and what needed to be done around the house during the process i evaluated my happiness in life and where i wanted to do some spring cleaning on myself as well i wanted to try and find more time at home and less time working after work this was going to not only be a financial challenge but also an inner struggle i love my photography business i love capturing people s memories milestones and special moments as cheesy as it sounds i really do love it and i love the feeling of accomplishment that comes from it all but i was becoming a slave to it my relationships with friends and family were suffering to have the best of both worlds i would need photos to be my day job and then have all the time afterwards dedicated to my life i didn t know how this would be financially possible but i set some goals and hopes for myself i anticipated some time in the future far away down the road i could make the transition my prayers were answered much quicker than i had possibly anticipated during all this thought and goal setting i saw a post on the facebook page of one of the photographers i admire they were looking to hire mind you these particular photographers have a huge imprint on the utah wedding industry i have gawked and awed at their talents for quite some time i even did our family photos with them i love them that much but anywho back to my initial thought i kinda thought it would be nice to work for someone else not worry about the responsibilities of owning a business taxes insurance marketing blah blah blah so i casually made the comment of i wish i had the talent not thinking anything of it next thing i know i received a message that snowballed into an interview that resulted in me being hired on all within less than 24 hours it was so crazy to be honest i felt a little irresponsible for not putting a ton of thought into it or even talking to cj about the details but i had to go with what my heart and gut were telling me who can argue that it felt as though it was now or never and i had to do it the next day i put in my resignation at the clinic here we are two weeks later today was an awfully bittersweet day my co workers at pioneer have become like family and the patients have even become friends i didn t think i was that emotionally invested there but how silly of me to think that i have spent 40 hours a week with these people for the past 3 1 2 years they are a significant part of my life and they have helped me grow and overcome so much leaving them all is definitely the bitter part but the sweet part is that i can now work full time doing what i absolutely love and still have the time in my marriage and with friends that i need i feel so blessed in so many ways i can t even describe how anxious and excited i am to start a new chapter of my life and i am so grateful for how i have grown from the chapter i am closing and no blog post is complete without a photo in my eyes so i will leave you with a silly little shot stacey took of me while on an engagement shoot last week she is awesome and i can t wait to work with her when i can better way to start off our christmas festivities than going to temple square to enjoy the lights we took trax downtown so that ike could ride the train why must he be so cute i sure hope his little brother is just as cute or excuse me superman as ike calls him it was fun having cameron around for christmas day i sure hope he enjoyed himself cj got spoiled by getting a detroit lions hat as well as a yankee hat the lord of the rings trilogy on bluray and the star wars saga on bluray then i got a new camera fair trade right maybe santa just loves me a little bit more i was really good this thanksgiving 2011 ah thanksgiving i just love turkey i have become the master of baking a super moist yummy turkey then this year cj informs me he prefers his turkey dry who is this guy well fortunately for him jason and alayna deep friend a turkey and it was slightly dry i would have hated to ruin his thanksgiving i stole jeri s photos because even though i said i was going to be better about photographing things i didn t take it with me much this holiday season what we found was a whole lot of silliness a normal good photo was very hard to find i guess we are just a bunch of goobers
