loose ends loose ends pages elsewhere tags ask me anything what happens when you figure out that you follow too many tumblrs and you really should just get your own moki dokie willoftrees support fur affinity s community funding fender s journal gofund me moved to the top at user request hey there fuzzies recently there has been a lot of conversation about censorsh furaffinity net this is more important than ever in this age of censorship with fa being one of the extremely few bastions of the old internet left and one of the only good art sites on the entire internet now they ve detailed it more on the site as linked above including ways outside of the gofundme that you can help this isn t even about furries at this point it s about taking a stand against censorship in the arts and keeping the internet a place of free expression 2 hours ago 9 673 notes via dollsahoy bettsfic this blanket was a practice in patience in 2025 i picked up crocheting again after doing it off and on for 20 years the difference this time was that i was finally old enough to take it seriously i found this pattern and immediately wanted to work it up i knew it would take me a year or so hundreds of hours thousands of yards of yarn but somehow i never doubted i would finish it even though my entire crafting history of partially finished projects said otherwise i put about 20 hours into that circle in the center only to realize i didn t like one of the colors i picked out so i started over with a color i liked better i would rip out dozens of hours worth of work if i found one mistake i didn t mind at all a dozen hours isn t much in the face of the many years i ll own and use this blanket my entire life probably and eventually someone else will inherit it maybe someone i m related to or a friend or a random person who comes across it in a thrift store and wonders who would make such a thing what i love most about crochet is that it s one of the fiber arts that can t be replicated by a machine if you ever see a crocheted item you know a human being made it by hand stitch by stitch anyway i ve already started on the next one i ll post some pics in another year when it s finished keep reading 4 hours ago 284 notes via mischif crochet crafting fiber arts pretty art girlballs god it would be awesome if the human brain could just ignore an upsetting thing instead of constantly wandering back to it for no fucking reason 1 day ago 46 275 notes via othercat2 creature wizard having to rely on meds to stay alive has you realizing things like oh my god if i got stuck on a desert island or went through a portal to a medieval world i would literally die it makes me wonder just how much anti pharma sentiment is driven by people who see others relying on meds to live feel their rugged individualist identity being challenged and cannot abide that 2 days ago 69 notes via athelind none ofthisnonsense hi you may have answered this already sorry but i was wondering if there was a way to get at least a rough estimate of the proportion of ao3 users that post fics a sort of the average ao3 user posts 0 3 fics the average ao3 poster posts 1 5 fics kind of thing or maybe there s no way to get these stats at all but thought i d ask if you had any insight thank you destinationtoast hey nobody has asked me that to the best of my recollection i don t have stats on it and don t know anyone who does but if someone has data knows of relevant data please reply based on the ao3 homepage we can get the following info more than 83 040 fandoms 11 800 000 users 18 550 000 works which means that in one sense the average mean is 18 55 11 80 1 57 works per ao3 user however a lot of users post nothing as you allude to in your example stats and even among people who do post averages of this sort are wildly skewed by outliers some individuals have thousands of fanworks and drag the average way up i have a bunch of further methodology thoughts below on how to try to get better answers through scraping but first a poll this poll will inevitably be biased toward people who post to ao3 because of who follows me and who is likely to participate in polls still why not start here what is your relationship to ao3 include posted wips when answering i read stuff on ao3 but don t have an account i have a lurker ao3 account don t author fanworks or create public bookmarks i have an ao3 account and bookmark things publicly but don t create new fanworks i have an ao3 account and have posted 1 2 fanworks i have an ao3 account and have posted 3 5 fanworks i have an ao3 account and have posted 6 20 fanworks i have an ao3 account and have posted 21 50 fanworks i have an ao3 account and have posted 51 100 fanworks i have an ao3 account and have posted 101 500 fanworks i have an ao3 account and have posted 501 1000 fanworks i have an ao3 account and have posted 1001 fanworks nuance vanilla extract show answers please share your exact answer in the tags comments if you feel like it okay further methodology thoughts questions about author stats keep reading 2 days ago 838 notes via cacodaemonia have an account public bookmarks no fic i have considered posting some old drabbles otgw for the first time hello friend i know you re reading this 3c 3 days ago 15 134 notes via quarra non natural skin tone sure radiojamming radiojamming alt my son has a designated dinner mouse that must be present at all his meals or else he simply cannot dine i have fished dinner mouse out of the water bowl after monkey alerted me in a panic that dinner mouse was in danger i have had to frequently remove dinner mouse from the bowl because another cat won t eat if it s there dinner mouse has been deposited next to the food storage container and i assume that indicates monkey s desire to dine posthaste monkey will not chase or toss around dinner mouse and so if he s feeling playful he leaves dinner mouse in a designated corner and goes to find another lesser mouse toy i do not understand and yet i am enchanted by this ritualistic dining mouse 3 days ago 16 133 notes via seananmcguire readingworldwanderer i m getting such a flash of nostalgia from reading daggerbound because it feels like i m recreating the first time i read tamora pierce s wild magic awesome fantasy adventure and midway through someone absolutely awesome shows up kicks butt has an astonishingly complex and layered personality for a side character references some past events i ve never heard of and leaves in a cascade of coolness when i learned that there had been a previous book series set in the same world called the song of the lioness i understood that the awesome side character had previous protagonist energy now in daggerbound i can sense it when learned edmund talks about all of his old friends and very interesting past adventures those people show up with a lot of character depth i squint at them and go that was a whole previous book wasn t it and then of course the endnote from t kingfisher says that there s more books in the world of the white rat universe and i really do feel like preteen me discovering that there s lots more tortall out there 3 days ago 455 notes via dduane brightlotusmoon bundibird if i had the money i would start a business called box of rocks and it would be all electrical appliances that are as it says on the company logo as dumb as a box of rocks no wifi or bluetooth connections no touch screens no predictive behaviours no account log in no fancy bullshit nonsense a fridge that does nothing but keep your food cool a washing machine that washes clothes the fucking end and actually on the washing machine note they would all have optional two tap ports so you can use the machine to heat the water if you need to but you dont have to if youre in a home that has a massive hot water tank or whatever and it would have fast cycles none of this two hour minimum bullshit fuck outta here with that nonsense 20 minute half sized fast loads 45 minute full sized regular loads and a two hour option for those of you who like things slow or wanna give your towels an extra good long wash or whatever anyway moving on dumb clothes dryers that just dry things at a manually set array of temperatures not an auto temp chosen by the machine based on the detected type of fabric or size of the load dumb toasters but quality none of this its just fifteen bucks but it will last five minutes shit dumb tvs with various different ports while we re at it you want a security camera but want full control of who accesses the recordings done dumb elevators that go up and down at the press of a button and have no complex bullshit that takes out the whole lift whenever it experiences an internet outage dumb cars with no touch screens or tracking tech or other bullshit give me my appliances as dumb as a box of rocks i dont want them making decisions for me i don t want them helping me i dont want two thirds of the bullshit thats in them these days i tried to buy a washing machine recently they were all some degree of fucking smart and yeah you can simply opt to not set it up which is what i ended up doing but it still prompts me even now to complete set up and it pushed the overall price of washing machines up because even though i dont plan to use any of their stupid smart tech it was still included in the model so it costs more because its smart well i dont want it to be smart i want it to be dumb i want manually chosen settings i want buttons and knobs i want it to be inert when not in use i want it stupid but functional this cannot be a niche market give me stupid appliances 3 days ago 8 992 notes via dduane i want a video doorbell that uses my lan not the internet not the cloud just hardware in my own home on it s own
