80 otherwise all my posts would just look like fives pages of redrumredrumredrumredrum anyhoo when i was a kid we had two boxes of music cassettes in the house both my father s one we were allowed to dive into at will the other we had to ask permission before touching the tapes in the permitted box plus a few honourable mentions made my childhood so i thought i d focus on them to begin with 1 storm force 10 steeleye span because of this i have a lifelong love of folk music and folk rock in particular it introduced me to maddy prior which lead to the whole british folk scene which gave me john tams etc etc forever ad infinitum all the way up to the modern scene an unbroken chain of 300 years or more 2 best of the beach boys it might have been vol ii from this a love of complex arrangements of close harmony singing of the sheer exuberant joy of group singing a vision of sunny california utterly foreign to my 70s 80s british childhood so sing along able so good for car journeys so timeless 3 best of queen defo vol ii i really don t know what i can add to this it s queen if you don t like at least the majority of queen songs i don t know what s wrong with you another permanent home in a corner of my soul 5 slippery when wet bon jovi oh judge all you like we were small town rockers when none of our peers thought it cool just me three other friends playing songs in a corner of the school playing field sharing headphones on the bus hair banging against the odds the day you can t raise your hands you may as well just give up because sometimes raising our hands and
