the wool cupboard saturday january 9 2016 latest finish which is late i m embarrassed to even post it has been so long life gets more hectic every year thought retirement would slow the pace down but it hasn t our rug hooking group meets twice each month and then i ve been attending a gathering called sit n stitch at our local library two days each month also combine that with grand children s activities going to see my mom each week and all the other business of life hectic i finished this pillow a few days after christmas and i like the result i first put it on a candlestick and it was a 3d tree but didn t like the way it looked so i removed the candlestick and voila a pillow it is hooked from an old tattered flag pattern with 8 cut wool strips and a few embellishments red sari silk ribbon as a garland on the bottom rust wire star garland with a little gold acrylic paint wash some silver yarn as a garland in the middle and some red metal bells on the top section on top is another rusty star which i also washed with the gold acrylic paint it is stuffed with wool strips that were left over which resulted in a hefty weight it measures 21 1 2 x 13 i still haven t forgotten that i was going to post pics of some antiques i have found but will have to do that another day on my way to my grandson s hockey game followed by a basketball game and then out for pizza for his birthday muted antique feel it is hooked in an 8 cut on linen and measures 18 x 22 the border is simply wrapped with the same wool strips as the background it is hanging in my dining room above the cat and mouse rug i have found a few treasures in my favorite local antique shops and will be posting some pictures later hope you are having a great week linda posted by the wool cupboard at 2 00 pm 10 comments saturday may 23 2015 new rug finish and more i ve been hooking a rug from designs in wool and finally finished the hooking this week now i m only about 10 rugs behind this one is hooked in 3 8 cut from as found and over dyed wools i like the way it turned out and really love this pattern i wanted to get an apron to wear when hooking to protect sweaters and shirts from being snagged by the carding strips on my frame so i bought an apron that i liked on overstock com and added some fun rug hooking elements in wool applique and embroidery the adorable rug hooker pin is by vicki hardcastle the apron turned out pretty cute and i have added some of my collected pins to make it even more fun the flag is painted on a tiny piece of slate love the result this is what we do in our rug group wool ewe join us rug hookers we hook some and talk a lot anyway it was a fun project and very useful i have found a couple of little treasures lately while out and about in my favorite shops this primitive rabbit was so cute i couldn t pass it up i love little chairs doll or children s so when i saw this little white doll chair at a reasonable price i snapped it up my collection is growing
