the work of shaitan the work of shaitan friday 8 may 2026 regiments of renown rr12 flying gargoyles of barda so the latest chaos army installment is a classic regiments of the renown set the flying gargoyles of barda featuring the leader standard bearer and musician accompanied by three troopers released in early 1985 this range were mounted on clear plastic flying stands but i always found their details were obscured as they were flying face down the leader being the exception so i ve pinned them in an upright position to show them off in their full glory according to their back story they were summoned by the wizard barda a likely airbone reference to douglas bader von micklestein of marienburg 80 s gw did always love a pun they re particularly flimsy models and i m not sure how long they ll survive the test of time pinned through the ankle troopers especially to be honest i was glad to get them finished especially the wings which was the final part to get done painting all six pairs in one hit was a little soul destroying so with them out of the way it s time to take another break from the chaos army with two completed broo and warrior regiments a fire giant the rest of the knights and now the gargoyles i feel the urge for a different path for a while thankfully i m overflowing with ideas just need to pick one i may opt for more rogue trader traitor marines after the chaos classic citadel realm of chaos regiments of renown thursday 30 april 2026 rogue trader chaos terminator captain while working on the latest chaos army installment i found myself with some spare time waiting for two part epoxy resin there appeared to be a shortage of the stuff on the isle of wight so i painted my first 40k model in about four years a traitor terminator captain he s been on the desk for a while now with the option of either painting him as a one off or the possibility of a traitor terminator squad in word bearer chapter colours plus i ve dug out a few chaos renegades out as well for a potential five man squad i ve made a slight modification with the addition of a pair of skulls on spikes that have been in the bits box for several years and finally put to good use i can t even remember what they re from anyone the next step is to finish off the latest chaos army installment which i ll be taking a break from subsequently and then decide whether to take on more marines rogue trader warhammer 40k saturday 4 april 2026 citadel c33 adventure packs chaos champion and chaos knight so as planned i ve managed to finish of the two remaining foot and mounted c33 adventure series chaos champion and knight for the army this week this now completes the four from that series including the chaos general and chaos hero which i painted last year i ve said it before these are among my favourite ever citadel miniatures and spent many years back in the 90 s long before ebay trying to track them down second hand in independent gaming shops around the country being out of production for some years proved extremely difficult but eventually i got there but not without moving mountains first i certainly won t miss painting those ornamental tassles on the horse barding there are about eight thin layers of red built up there with no dry brushing which got a bit soul destroying by the end especially doing the two horses simultaneously i ve also said this before the classic foot and mounted series has always been one of my favourite citadel ranges dating back to the pre slotta era and i really ought to paint more of them meanwhile this particular part pinterest labels classic chaos classic citadel realm of chaos thursday 12 march 2026 citadel cm2 gargantuan fire giant lord i ve gone large with the chaos army s latest installment well gargantuan in fact this is a miniature can you even call it that i ve owned for about 30 years which at the time was extremely difficult to get hold of as it had been out of production for some time as i recall i obtained a phone number from some bloke in nottingham who owned a number of rare miniatures and was able to buy a few bits and pieces including this guy the gargantuan fire giant lord designed by nick bibby and released in late 1985 it had been a target of mine for many years and never saw it in any gw store as a kid it weighs an absolute tonne and for some reason i ve never painted it before until now i think we re deterred me was the skin which according to the 3rd citadel compendium is firey and red i had to stick to lore with this really although i was a little apprehensive about it the fire giant is also regarded to be as tough as a dragon and resilient as a demon yet cunning as any human his eyes are inflamed with yellow piercing lights and his voice crackling and spitting like a cauldron his armour is of bronze and all his ornaments are of copper his weapon is the triple spiked death rake a mighty and fearsome device in his capable hands i had to replace said weapon as one of the spikes had broken off many years ago so i ended up using a trident from a zombie this is actually the first giant of any kind that i ve ever painted next up are more additions to the army a pair citadel runequest broo beastman regiment complete as planned along with the chaos warrior regiment the 20 man broo beastman regiment has also reached completion this rear rank is made up of some particularly unsightly oddities firstly we have what i think is the best model from trish carden s beastmen the bird woman wonderfully grotesque and bloated she cuts a menacing figure in the ranks second from left is from the runequest broo blister pack range a classic example of varying statures in these models the middle miniature is two heads another classic trish carden model and a grotesquely bizarre addition to the regiment the last pair are from the 1983 vile broo boxed set two recent and unexpected acquisitions both came with separate heads and weapons heads were supplied randomly i ve been wanting a finished beastman regiment for more years than i can care to remember now the plan is to have another regiment for the army in time i have most of the miniatures to build it but there are two or three i m still searching for including something extremely rare meanwhile next up will be something on the large side for the army which hopefully will be finished over the warrior regiment completed it s been good to a resume the chaos army project again and b finish off the first regiment of chaos warriors the plan is in time to have two regiments of fifteen this rear rank features four classic ch2 aly morrison sculpts plus a jes goodwin model that is fairly uncommon variant that featured in the citadel collector series he s first in line a variant of vile the twisted second is ivan edaik followed by pestilens one eye arnie slicernecker and dread indy babylon the last three have a distinct arabyan look tainted former warriors of araby perhaps so the plan is managed to complete the second phase of my napoleonic french battalion the command base consisting of a mounted infantry colonel the regimental eagle bearer and a fusilier drummer i hadn t noticed at first but it turns out the eagle bearer was missing the chinscales on his shako i m guessing they d been forgotten about when he was being sculpted so i ended up adding a pair myself out of green stuff the flag is from the excellent gmb designs a few days ago i posted them up on the perry miniatures fan page on facebook it was good to get a bit of constructive feedback from one of the guys on there thanks tim basically the colonel s saddle was supposed to be blue instead of red which was no longer used post 1812 also the pompoms of the eagle bearer and the drummer were the wrong colours i ve since corrected these as you can see in the following photos i m currently working on the next section of fusiliers 1st company so i m glad the enthusiasm is still there to keep it going as i said before i m not expecting to get the entire battalion finished in one go i m happy to stick with it until i get the urge to take on something else and carry on with them later on down the line for now
