for my son and his family one of my friends asked if i could make some for her just in time for christmas i finished them on friday evening and she picked them up on saturday the lining fabrics go with the design on the front i guess i should have made maddie and davis a little different they aren t twins but their snow people look sort of like twins oops i forgot santa s red nose posted by ruthie at 6 00 am 1 comment labels beth christmas stockings thursday december 27 2012 1600 quilts one of our customers here at the national group dick funk is a huge fan of my quilting he asked me to make 4 quilts for christmas one for each of his daughter in laws thank heaven he chose an easy pattern 1600 quilts i purchased jelly rolls at rossville quilts and backing fabrics there also i added narrow borders from my stash and bought the outer border and binding fabrics at joanns i hope they were pleased with his gifts posted by ruthie at 6 00 pm 3 comments labels 1600 quilt dick funk terri s 2 3 quilts terri was given these antique blocks and decided to make quilts for family members with them the setting square fabrics she picked really help to keep the vintage look in them they all or just maybe a lover of the outdoors it s a really creative way to showcase that fish fabric not real fancy quilting but some cute water like in the focus fabric spineless straight back feathers in 2 quilts for the indiana veteran s home one of our guild members squeakie is a member of the american legion post 11 and they sponsors 15 residents of the indiana veteran s home they asked her if the quilt guild would be willing to make lap quilts for those residents the guild members true to form stepped up to the plate and produced not 15 but 30 quilts to be distributed the additional quilts went to roommates of the original 15 and also to several residents that have no family in the area something that is so enjoyable and everyday to us really made a difference to these residents i hope that we do something like this again our charity committee chairperson sue notified the local tv station and they came out to do a story about these quilts i didn t know when i left the house that i the computer room at home to post any pictures members of my guild made placemats to be given to meals on wheels for them to distribute along with holiday meals some members ran out of time and cute what a great stash buster this would be she used lots of different browns for the spool ends along with different backgrounds and that adds to the charm it s another meander and permacore mother they did an awesome job she was worried that it wasn t perfect but i think it turned out just great it got a meander and i used omni spearmint thread which blended perfectly with all the shirts and share the pattern with me and i look forward to working on it well maybe when i m retired just look at all the details on this one it really was nice to have these easy peasy meander quilts to do in between the others posted by ruthie at 8 53 pm no comments labels mary beth meander santa kelly s strip quilt kelly made this queen size quilt for her adult son who is pretty picky she said i asked her if she sewed it together like a 1600 quilt and she did not she laid out all the strips in her foyer yikes that s a lot of work but it paid off because it s a stunning quilt since there were some short strips i thought that some of the fabrics were actually shirts and she said no that it is all purchased fabric she was going to have a meander but i suggested square spiral and she agreed i
