mike and new puppy veatch the little guy loves his new home and all of the attention he gets he is extremely well behaved and is very eager to please which makes training a breeze expect for one small detail he s a power chewer a very powerful power chewer jessie and mike have been searching day and night for a toy that will stand up to veatch he loves squeaker toys so he was given a stuffing less toy just in case it got ripped well now it had no squeaker and is just a torn up piece of fabric on its way to the garbage can so jessie and mike went to petco and found this really neat duck that you can sling shot really far well a half hour later and the duck was down a wing and some stitches on its belly the package stated that the toy was double stitched and indestructible yeah right next jessie and mike bought the mini orka frisbee veatch has one orka toy he has yet to even think about chewing up because its a treat holder jessie uses it each time she feeds him and fills the ball up with his dinner or breakfast the remaining ration gets put in his bowl well this too is now on its way to the garbage can and so is the chunk that was chewed off she s done some research on her own and found the planet dog orbee brand which claims to be able to stand up to powerful chewers she got the orbee glow for good ball and we re all very curious to see how it ends up the interesting thing is that veatch doesn t chew up anything but his toys he also has a rubber ball from petco he hasn t chewed up yet but jessie thinks it s because he rarely plays with it he does nibble on fingers and toes and jessie and mike are working to teach the little guy biting hurts and he s not allowed to bite anything but his toys does anyone have any other suggestions on durable toys kong s are no good not that they don t stand up veatch just doesn t seem to like them jessie thinks it s their odd smell toys with fabric are a joke to the little guy although the rubber toys seems to loose his attention rope toys are ripped into itsy bitsy tinnie weenie pieces jessie wants to stay away from raw hides and has heard nylabones but isn t so sure so any ideas the orbee should be here next week all make sense after a few short sentences i promise this past saturday jessie and mike decided to take a ride up to pet co to shop around for pedro they had heard about an ongoing adoption day that was being held there by last chance animal rescue and figured they would get some puppy love while they were there too well guess what they came home with meet veatch originally called ditto a 4 6 month old lab corgi mix corgidor that was rescued from a high kill shelter down south veatch was brought up to the big apple by the very loving and devoted volunteers from last chance animal rescue when he was only 6 weeks old this sweet little guy was begging to find his forever home and when mike and jessie strolled up he found it veatch got his name from a canyon around 180 miles off the tip of long island it s known to be a great fishing area for tuna mike plans to take a fishing trip there some day mike loves fishing who knows maybe veatch will go to veatch canyon so while on a random shopping spree for pedro jessie and mike wound up becoming parents of their very own furkid without even realizing they were expecting so far veatch is the perfect puppy he is very well behaved and loves everyone he meets he gets along with pedro for the most part and only bothers him when he can t find a suitable squeaky toy he is almost already house broken and knows a few commands which has really impressed everyone jessie thinks it is because he was fostered he loves going for walks and will grab the leash and pull you back to the house when he s had enough he loves playing with squeaky toys for hours on end which can drive you a little crazy but when he s done playing all he wants it to be by your side for a snooze jessie and mike think veatch is just what they needed to help get them through the passings of saffron and i and although this little guy has some big shoes to fill i think he will be the perfect fit for my girl posted by guardian angel ziggy at 8 44 am 6 comments it made jessie cry but i think they were tears of happiness for the first time since i had left the bloggers name is jennifer and she is a dog groomer and her dog is named ziggy as well i think they are very powerful words that may help many of our friends who have lost their furkids in the recent weeks i remember i stood by your bed last night i came to have a peep i could see that you were crying you found it hard to sleep i whined to you softly as you brushed away a tear it s me i haven t left you i m well i m fine i m here i was close to you at breakfast i watched you pour the tea you were thinking of the many times your hands reached down to me i was with you at the shops today your arms were getting sore i longed to take your parcels i wish i could do more i was with you at my grave today you tend it with such care i want to re assure you that i m not lying there i walked with you towards the house as you fumbled for your key i gently put my paw on you i smiled and said it s me you looked so very tired and sank into a chair i tried so hard to let you know that i was standing there it s possible for me to be so near you everyday to say to you with certainty i never went away you sat there very quietly then smiled i think you knew in the stillness of that evening i was very close to you the day is over i smile and watch you yawning and say good night god bless i ll see you in the morning and when the time is right for you to cross the brief divide i ll rush across to greet you and we ll stand side by side i have so many things to show you there is so much for facebook tuesday october 12 2010 so here s the story hello again everyone ziggy here i know i know you must be doing a double take but let me explain yes this past january i made the journey over the rainbow bridge with the help of my humans out of no where i began suffering from cancer in my liver spleen and heart within a week my humans had no choice but to help me over the bridge but now i ve got a little surprise i may have left physically but never in spirit i still watch over my dawg house and my family everyday and i ve decided to make a new blog telling the stories of what i see from way up here now there are some rules i m not allowed to talk about the bridge i m not allowed to talk about what it was like getting here i can t do any favors but i can relay messages to the other lost fur kids bringing a message back is a little challenging but we ll see so now you may be asking wait how does this work honestly it s very hard to explain but through a lot of will power and a little bit of luck i m able to get my stories across to share with you all i write them up here and send them down to jessie for some proof reading it s very hard to type without thumbs and to add some media so here we go unfortunately my first three stories bring some bad news if you ve visited my blog from before the bridge you know all about it on october 6th a friend of mine passed over the bridge with the help of his humans after being diagnosed with cancer sweet saffron successfully made the journey and i was there on the other side to greet him with plenty of butt sniffs and tail wags he misses his humans very dearly but knows he will see them again when the time is right second on october 7th a cute little guy i unfortunately never met made the journey over the bridge as well bart was jessie s aunt barb s fur kid who passed away from old age saffron and i were both there to greet him with plenty of licks and tail wags just like the rest of us bart misses his humans but is looking forward to seeing them again third natty my very own itty bitty kitty has gotten some bad news from the vet this past week my little black and white boy has a very enlarged heart and a bum aorta this means too much running around and playing results in an attack where is body isn t getting enough oxygen the vet put him on a blood pressure medication and he has been taking some baby aspirin along with lots and lots of treats hopefully the meds and extra lovin will do the trick we re keeping our paws crossed now some good news mom took pedro to work today and he got a pause for dramatic effect bath pedro hates baths and when he goes to work he is attached to mom s hip so when jessie took him into the kitchen and he found a sink full of warm soapy water my tough little brother knew exactly what was about to go down after the traumatizing event was over pedro rubbed himself all over the floor to dry off he was doing figure eights and going along the entire length of the filing cabinets jessie was cracking up so hard it hurt to breathe and as soon as she was about to video tape the event pedro went back to his normal self and plopped down for a nap shucks second cousin rambo made it safely through his surgery rambo had a bladder stone that needed to be removed and although he was against it his g mom took him in for the surgery we re all wishing him a safe quick recovery for some reason blogger is rejecting any photos from rambos blog so make sure you drop by and wish him a speedy recovery so i guess to sum this all up i ll be posting here and there nothing major just about the little things i see go on in my dawg house and with my family i ll let you know how everyone is doing and try to get around visiting everyone as soon as possible until
