the red mark the red mark the allred s leaving our mark tuesday april 29 2014 frozen the party so we were super excited for frozen to come out on dvd in march the girls and i planned a party they each invited two friends over and we had a frozen themed dinner and snacks and watched the movie of course it was super fun i love me a theme party i can t resist seriously i love to plan and decorate and cook i don t so much love the clean up but it s usually not too bad anyway we i had a blast the girls were super cute singing along with the songs and they loved my food hooray so here s some photo documentation the table i thought it was pretty cool i had blue sparkly tissue paper under a white plastic table cloth i thought it looked kinda like snow the food we had olaf pilaf it wasn t technically a pilaf i don t think but it was a sticky rice made with chicken broth and spices i was originally planning on forming it into balls and making a little snowman on each plate but the rice was hot and hurt my hands when i made the first two balls so i just served it as rice i would ve renamed it snow or something like that but i didn t have time anyway we also had troll stones meatballs with spinach on them and sven s salad which was just whole carrots and some ranch the punch was blue hawaiian punch and sprite and i think i called it heart of ice we had jello jigglers that were kinda a let down they were supposed to be made with a layer of clear sprite flavored gelatin and blue jello but i couldn t find any blue jello so it was two layers of sprite flavored plain gelatin one colored blue it didn t really taste anyway it looked super cool it was called kristoff s ice then there were the chocolate dipped strawberries that were anna s frozen hearts they were a hit a friend brought chocolate and mint rice krispie squares but i didn t get a picture before they were devoured i had another dessert planned but after all that was eaten we decided to hold off it was going to be marshmallow the snow monster a powdered donut with a scoop of vanilla ice cream a scoop of marshmallow fluff and white chocolate chips now that i write that all down it sounds a little extreme i sent a donut home with each girl in their own crystal bowl instead good enough the girls have made lots of really great friends since we ve moved and i feel very grateful eli was being less than his usual photogenic self and did not want his picture took silly boy watching the movie emma and her friends helped each other through some intense moments posted by ashley at 3 33 pm 3 comments monday april 28 2014 wizard of oz auditions well tonight we went to the open auditions for the wizard of oz we waited in line for two hours with two very excited girls and one super hyper crazy boy emma has been planning on auditioning for nearly four weeks kaylee decided she d like to try out also just two days before we were so proud of the girls and boy for handling the wait so well and for their awesome performances eli didn t audition but he did wait well anyway i had planned all along on taking the video with my phone but the sound isn t super great crank your speakers sit back and enjoy posted by ashley at 9 01 pm 2 comments wednesday april 23 2014 easter we went to visit grandma allred for easter this year we had a really fun weekend on saturday we went to an egg hunt put on by a neighboring community it was at a really fabulous park that we hadn t been to before once the crowd headed home and the sun started heating things up we headed back to the park to play the kids loved the tire swing and spent most of their time on it emma s most recent favorite song is rockin robin and the kids sang a rousing rendition while swinging we had easter dinner with great grandpa and some aunts and an uncle after we stuffed ourselves we had peep wars this is where you take a peep you know the marshmallow chick things stick a toothpick in them and heat them in the microwave until one of them stabs another and becomes the victor the kids thought it was great and had their own competition after the highly competitive adults were done here are the peeps ready for battle the picture isn to stop off for a few rides at the carousel we love riding around and around we have our favorite horses paint the one emma is riding and the dragon are among our favs trying to snag the golden ring managed to capture a real moment i did not know that eli who has a very talented tounge as many of you know could curl his tounge neither timothy nor myself can and it is genetic my mom can maybe it skips a generation anyway after school and piano lessons tonight kaylee was being a very nice sister helping eli get his boots off which he claims he can t do himself and she fell backwards scraping deceiving the weather today feels remarkably like spring i know in my heart of hearts that it will not last long but the blue sky and sunshine made today wonderful the kids were dying to play outside after dinner and with the extra hour of light i sent them out to run and jump and play i can t get over how warm it is at 6 30pm and light i love spring i love all the seasons mostly i love that we have distinct seasons and we get to enjoy and watch them change but really after the freezing cold winter we ve had i m super excited for some warmer weather anyway while i folded laundry and the kids frolicked i could hear them laughing and calling each other so i ran outside quickly to take some pictures of them enjoying each other s company i really hope that they always enjoy being together i love to watch them play and see the crazy things they come up with and the way the treat each other most of the time they really are so wonderful kids are just amazing you know i have much to learn from them posted by ashley at 5 40 pm 1 comment saturday march 08 2014 the chef emma is 8 1 2 she is growing up so fast this morning she was practicing piano and her song was challenging to her so she asked me for help i struggled to help her she has nearly surpassed me she is a reading demon she has really taken off and can be found curled up in the living room with a book the goofballs mysteries and heidi hecklebeck series are currently her favs this morning timothy decided it was time for her to make some pancakes she often helps me in the kitchen but being that i am an overprotective worry wort i don t usually let her work at the stove today she read the instructions mixed up the batter poured it into the pan and flipped them all by herself so proud of her thanks for breakfast emma
