up if it kills me a couple weeks after sophie was born we decided to enjoy the warm weather and headed to the zoo the boys had been a bit couped up and it was good to get them out moving and breathing fresh air it was good for me too just to document she was there waiting in line for the carousel alex wanted a zebra but had to settle for this zebra type animal isaac opted for the bald eagle posted really loving second grade his first grade english teacher ms blaser moved up to second grade with him he was so excited he really loves her he has a new chinese teacher mr hou it is so amazing to see him progress in chinese he has a new recess hobby spider hunting he along with several other kids are on the look for any spider especially a black widow eeeewwww posted by mandi at 9 49 pm 1 comments monday october 31 2011 alex goes to preschool i had a love hate relationship with this day i was so excited for alex to have something of his own but i was so sad that he is growing up so fast i cried the whole way home from dropping him off i m sure some of it had to do with the baby blues and the fact that my aunt was leaving us that day it was so cute when he got home he ran in the house with a grin from ear to ear and told me all about how fun his day was so it made up for my sadness he is really enjoying it and gets to go with his best buddy will since i was down tutu took alex to pick out his first back pack he came home with an elmo one which is quite funny since he has never watched elmo the night before he went isaac like any good big brother taught him on what to expect from preschool i was in the other room listening it was the cutest thing isaac also helped him write his name on his back pack this was the first thing he wanted to do when he came through the door posted by mandi at 8 26 pm 3 comments sunday october 30 2011 love for sophie in the first week after a couple extra days at hotel riverton hospital due to the c section sophie and i headed home we were welcomed with tons of love by tutu isaac and alex the boys just can t get enough of this little girl there was constant bickering over who s turn it was to hold her to curb that we finally had to time them when they were holding her sophie has been such an easy baby from the day she came home she was on a three hour eating schedule and was a fantastic sleeper she was constantly giving me four hour stretches at night while she was in the hospital she would gag on her spit up and stop breathing momentarily she continued this at home i was terrified and wouldn t let her be alone for any length of time at her two week check up her doctor diagnosed her with acid reflux and prescribed medicine for her we were so lucky to have tutu stay with us and take care of us i tell you this c section recovery is for the birds i had a hard time adjusting to not lifting and not driving i am so lucky to have a fantastic mother in law and sister in law who stepped in to help me after tutu left posted by mandi at 9 16 pm 1 comments thursday october 13 2011 sophie s arrival i was scheduled to be induced on sept 7 2011 i was instructed to call at 6 30am to find out what time to come in the nurse on call told me to be there at 7 30am we got ready dropped the boys off at my friend ashlie s house and headed out to riverton hospital now this is a bit of a jaunt from cottonwood heights as we pulled off of bangerter highway the hospital calls and said they had a bunch of ladies in active labor come in and they didn t have room for me this is not the news that a pregnant woman wants to hear my aunt zanne trav and i headed over to village inn for a little breakfast the hospital called while we were there and said we could come back they got me checked in around 9am started the patosine broke my water gave me my epidural and we were on our way we waited and waited not much was happening later in the day they figured out that she was posterior i just started to cry remembering the horrible labor i had with isaac due to him being posterior they tried putting me in different positions to try to get her to move she rolled to her side but was still not descending around 9pm my doctor came in and we started pushing still nothing after an hour of pushing my doc informed me that she was in a pocket in my pelvis and she was not coming down she told me that i could keep pushing and see what happens but was very confident that i would still end up with a c section i was exhausted and told her if that was going to be the outcome anyway let s go ahead with the c section i was prepped and wheeled into the operating room while i was laying there i heard a voice say mandi when i looked up i saw a friend of mine jamie from middle school and high school we were good friends but i hadn t seen her since graduation it was fun to have a familiar face there now having a c section was about the weirdest feeling i have ever experienced i felt no pain but could feel the pressure of them relocating my insides to get the baby out strange at 11 09pm when they pulled her out i heard gasps from all the nurses of course i panicked and thought something was wrong until i heard one of them say look at her eyelashes when they handed her to me i had to check out what the fuss was about her lashes were indeed spectacular dark and touching her eyebrows i found myself staring at the most beautiful little girl i had ever seen i was in love with this 8lb 4oz 20 5 inch little muffin ready for surgery love at first sight with tutu with mimaw sophie s first sponge bath the boy were so excited to meet their new little sister we had to time them holding her to avoid the fighting grandpa glenn and grandma sharleen alex was watching a show on the tv the next thing we knew he was snuggled right up with sophie grandma norma grandpa ron aunt harmony grumpy my three blessings here is the scoop behind sophie s name my middle name is ellen my aunt zanne s middle name is ellen my grandma tutu s middle name is ellen and my great grandma is ellen sophrona i fell in love with the name sophrona which is greek and means wisdom we flipped the order so she too would have the middle
