it s been what 7 8 months certainly seems light years for sure i m stealing a few minutes this afternoon to touch back again after our last post in october the house we were trying to buy short sale thru b of a completely fell through they lead us on then sold it to an affiliate company it was quite a bombshell when we heard the news and got a notice to vacate in the same day with no prior warning or communication we learned later they are the worst in the industry go us however the lord helped us land in a better place thankfully we re so much happier in our new place renting instead we put our down payment toward paying off our credit cards and our vehicle and what an awesome empowering feeling it was to hold that title of ownership in our hands our first vehicle died one year before our payments ended of course i have been listening to dave ramsey here on our local ktsa a lot and he changes your thinking around and back to real sense real fast it s a beautiful thing to be free and not obligated to car payments and credit cards now if we can only kick ol sallie mae outta the house the lord also answered a prayer of mine with an opportunity both financially help our family and complete illustrations for a wonderful little children s book i d worked on years back my client the author called me the next morning after i d said a prayer in my heart and told me she d just heard from the publisher she d submitted to previously 3 times the ownership had changed yet again and the new team loved the book and illustrations and thought they d fit their book market wonderfully wow so i tackled that project amidst moving holidays and two toddlers took me almost this entire time to be done with major family sacrafice and millions of toddler meltdowns but it is beautiful and complete now the production is on the publisher s timetable and i am back to focusing on mommyhood full time the book is titled grandma loves me best and is a cute story based on the author a mother of 10 and her grandchildren she is an amazing lady these are a few of the illustrations all in ink and prisma colored pencil on bristol artboard while it is still a challenge to find my hands free to write and type and update i am so excited to keep up to date more at our blog with the swirl of our life flowing more calmly and smoothly now then again you never know what s and mattel i m sure mine is 100 in her princess stage and it s adorable not so much the princess attitude however aly greatly enjoys the cg barbie movies and it s fun to see the inspriation and creativity she actually gains from those shows recently we watched the artist in me on rapunzel about child prodigy amanda dunbar introducing children to art and this happened she grabbed her princess dress ran to her paints and said i drawing this is the finale of her complete dance to enya s orinoco flow she loves enya she slows her movements to the music and quite impressed me with the ballet moves she actually picked up from watching barbie ballerina movies i find it hilariaous that she s watching her reflection in the oven posted by kendra at 2 49 pm 1 comment labels alyssa art saturday september 26 2009 living well on less what was it like to live 70 years ago what were the driving attitudes and spirit of our society it s so different today it almost seems like a foreign country or something i stumbled across this very interesting post on australian based blog down to earth recently and thought i d connect you to it via addthis it s titled living well on less the author s observations and experiences are very enlightening as a gen xer myself like many of you the world i know growning up has been an affluent throw away image is everything society however i may be listening to a little too much of the dave ramsey show as well as learning through life to continually live as a more responsible adult parent and to appreciate apply and love the principles of self reliance delayed self gratification and the power of prudent provident living god s way is truly the way to wealth and independance individual creativity and strength without ego and excess i more fully appreciate the true strength of those old fashioned americans who chose to forego luxury to have freedom and future and look what wealth and freedoms we have today because of their temporary self sacrafice i guess it certainly doesn t hurt to take a good hard look at what made those strong rugged individuals spirits tick especially in this economy eh i enjoyed this article because it gave me that glimpse into that dogma then again maybe i should just chat with my grandparents posted by kendra at 11 38 am 2 comments tuesday september 22 2009 i love to see the temple rob and i recently swapped kid sitting to let eachother escape to the peace of the temple and rejuvinate our spiritual batteries we haven t been doing it often enough and life gets a little frazzling when you don t truly god is our strength and without him we are certainly nothing to boast of we are members of the church of jesus christ of latter day saints our temples are sacred and holy sanctuaries the house of the lord a great symbol of holiness purity faith joy and where we learn of god s individual eternal love for us and his work to bring about our happiness and the salvation of our families i am so thankful we have the great blessing of a beautiful temple here in our city i love the stained glass designs on this particular ediface they are exquisite and inspire me so deeply the craftsmanship of
