free option agroecology amid the looming fertiliser crisis african states should invest in sustainable agriculture to increase yields and food al jazeera rather than boosting african fertiliser production to replace what s blocked in the gulf governments across the region should urgently redirect subsidies and policy initiatives to support agroecology the fact is that for much of africa local foods are produced without chemical inputs farmers don t use them for traditional crops like cassava in west africa sorghum in the sahel or banana around the great lakes they are often reserved instead for cash crops for export furthermore across west and north africa farmers organisations are advancing agroecological methods that avoid chemical fertilisers groups such as beo neere the convergence des femmes rurales pour la souverainete alimentaire and the nous sommes la solution movement support tens of thousands of farmers across several countries in tunisia the network for agroecological transition and the tunisian association of permaculture promote fertiliser free food systems including the nourriture citoyenne citizen food label for produce grown without chemical inputs evidence shows that agroecology can increase food production on farms strengthen farmer livelihoods and provide multiple ecosystem benefits a series of studies conducted in the 2000s of 208 agricultural projects across 52 countries involving 9 million farmers found yield increases of 50 100 percent for various food staples including cassava sweet potato millet maize and sorghum when environmentally sensitive agricultural techniques were applied in senegal researchers found that farmers using agroecology had 17 percent higher yields and 36 percent higher incomes than their conventional counterparts in brazil these numbers were respectively 49 and 177 percent yet for agroecology to reach its full potential the economic cycle that keeps farmers tied to monocropping and export markets at the expense of feeding their own communities must be broken 16 may 2026 via standwithdaanes 1 hour ago 7 079 notes talibri just let me sleep fr via seananmcguire 1 hour ago 62 464 notes michaelwaev i really think we should stop saying kid friendly and start saying ad friendly we shouldn t indulge these companies and their excuses anymore i also think that continuing to pretend that this is about protecting the children pushes a lot of the blame onto kids and teens who don t have the political power to push through any of this censorship legislature corporations and governments are to blame via dandelionsresilience 2 hours ago 11 821 notes ryan sometimes i hate people who call themselves brutally honest when really they re just mean you don t need to be brutal to sterling k brown brings a chilling layered humanity to one of its most enigmatic figures the monster in conversation with black girl nerds brown revealed that his approach to the character extended far beyond the script tapping into deeply rooted emotional and cultural tensions that shaped his performance in sterling k brown unpacks the pain behind the monster in is god is blackgirlnerds com 3 hours ago 13 notes luvmesumus is god is through the eyes of a black woman and a burn survivor the pain is deeper than the physical scars on our skin t co 4 hours ago 10 notes sleepynegress on is god is near the end it hit me that with everything being cyclical we re in the midst of another blaxploitation and b movie horror period inspired by similar circumstances that brought it the last time nixon being openly corrupt rising gas prices etc so watching movies like one battle sinners and now is god is amongst the nastier little sometimes low budget horrors that are also making a mark like when evil lurks talk to me barbarian and weapons that is this everything about it feels very 70s from the pacing to the symbolism to the revenge plot and messy turns it takes but i do think it s a bit overhyped as it s 70 s in its flaws as well the plot s a bit too thin and there s not enough imagination in the turns and places it could have gone its foxy brown instead of the superior coffy if you are deep in the old genre pits of the 70s or watch with an engaged aka black audience then you can appreciate it all the actors understood what type of movie they were making and acted well within the genre and the cinematography lighting was better than a lot of bigger movies i can t quite rec it enthusiastically you have to be okay with 70s b movie pacing and scripting but i really want to see what the aleshea harris can do with other people s material 4 hours ago 7 notes huskyluvr source 1 of 5419 next page theme linear by peter vidani
