kitchen victoria louise m s aug 09 2025 5 2 share originating in medieval europe this delicious dessert was traditionally made by gently simmering whole or chopped fruit in a sugar syrup until the juices thickened into something incredible often served warm or chilled spooned over yogurt tucked into cakes or eaten straight from the jar compotes are the sweet and sometimes savory heart of the seasons abundance photos from chasing carrots but what i love most about a compôte isn t just its ease or elegance it s the invitation into a world of experimenting with flavors today i want to invite you into that world into a simmer of possibility let s dream up compôtes together unexpected aromatic and maybe even a little wild garden inspired compote combinations strawberry basil rose vanilla
