ellie mae and winston at 6 53 am no comments labels guinea pig holiday winston sunday june 14 2009 packages in the mail we got our rodentjeopardy prize from caplinrous today mom brought it home to us in a package from the go postal people along with it she got a special prize from kritterkondo winston was on security so he checked the packages in here he is with the incoming mail winston checked each package individually it s not an easy job but somepiggy has to do it finally got our piggy prize package opened what is this winston asks this creature looks familiar winston notices it s japanese so he tastes the prize to ensure it does not contain explosives he had to rule out it wasn t a trap set by godzillaofjapan the little kapibara san japanese toy we won capy s owner got it from tokyo the little pull chain on top makes it bounce around we couldn t capture that on film though thank you to caplinrous and owner for sponsoring rodentjeopardy and for the cool prize posted by that the gracie we are campaigning for is our very own gracie the guinea pig however that s not the case gracie is a german shorthair pointer doggy living in california she is the current pet mayor of montclair village and is running for re election the pet mayor according to the pet and wildlife fund web site serves as an ambassador of goodwill to all creatures in the community two legged four legged furred feathered and scaled of course there are prizes and media attention for the pet mayor but the election itself is for a worthy cause voting is by donation and each dollar buys one vote for the candidate the proceeds go towards animal causes gracie s sponsor is the montclair veterinary hospital who works in cooperation with the village to sponsor the contest gracie s campaign message is that she is always well dressed and knows the best eateries in town food that s reason alone to vote for gracie so not only is this a followfriday plug to follow gracie on twitter at typaldos what delightful reading we learned about the book on twitter through caplinrous whose human is the author the giant hamster is a capybara just like caplin the main characters of the book were three cats celeste tiger and ruby celeste lived with her human parents and human sister also named celeste in an apartment celeste the cat was not happy that human celeste also had a dwarf hamster that she named celestina celeste the cat thought that she could show her humans what she thought of rodents by catching a giant hamster a capybara that was on the loose in the area and placing the giant hamster in front of celestina s cage other neighborhood cats tiger and ruby join celeste the cat in her quest to hunt down and capture the giant hamster they encounter many adventures obstacles and even dangers along the way but through it all develop friendships and a deeper understanding of each other our favorite character was ruby a small calico that at the beginning was kind of annoying to celeste the cat but proves herself to be stronger and braver than the rest there is also an educational aspect to the book as many people are not familiar with capybaras who are sometimes kept as exotic pets and in zoos in the usa the book demonstrates the gentle nature of the capybara and the fascinating lifestyle it leads as the world s largest rodent we highly recommend this book which is marketed as a children s book but would be delightful and educational reading for animal lovers of all ages it kept our human mom in as much suspense to the end as it did us you can purchase the book outs more meaningful we are going to change the way we handle the fuzzypigz recognitions each week on meowmonday woofwednesday followfriday and squeakysunday did we forget any we will feature a few anipals on our blog we won t feature the same each week but different pals so that we might get the best exposure for all each meowmonday we will feature a few kittehs on woofwednesday a few puppehs squeakysunday will be for rodents and followfriday for all others as today is meowmonday we have a few of our favorite kitteh anipals for you to meet artythecat arty is a girl kitteh who lives in our nation s capital she is a pampered kitteh who is waited on paw and foot by her doting staff sadly arty was recently diagnosed with kidney disease and has been sick but we are happy that she is feeling better is at home and tweeting more like normal self again arty is very entertaining and always has a snappy comeback to whatever is thrown at her hopefully tuna mrbasilcat mr basil cat is a lovable tomcat who adores the ladies especially lilliancat he is super friendly and engaging and always has a nosetap and purrs for his friends he makes us purr and churble every time he comes online 09casper one of the first kittehs we made friends with on twitter was casper still a kitten living in florida casper was born in the wild and was adopted this past october casper is very engaging and loves to chat tooncescat one of our newest anipals is toonces the cat who can drive also hailing from florida he lives with two other kittehs and sometimes sneaks a drive when his staff leave the car keys
