wendys whimsys skip to main skip to sidebar wendys whimsys sunday may 10 2020 i can t believe how long it s been since i ve posted i hope everyone is doing well during this covid crisis times sure are different right now but we re muddling our way through it all we went for a lovely drive today and enjoyed the spring scenery we even saw a mink run across the road i hope to be able to start posting pictures and stuff as soon as i figure all this new stuff out happy mothers day to all wendy posted by wendy at 3 29 pm 2 comments monday february 1 2016 letters on the go i love writing and receiving letters i ve mentioned this a few times on this blog in these busy times i ve found a way to take my writing with me jot down notes and send off letters all in a handy makeup bag i just love this i 17 2015 holiday traditions every year when i was growing up my grandma would make us santa pillowcases i would get so excited when i would go to my room and there on my pillow was a brand new santa pillowcase my mom loved decorating for the holidays so i m sure it was just as much fun for her to put them on our pillows and listen for our squeals of delight when we found them last year i had found some fabric after christmas it didn t have santa on it but it brought that warm fuzzy feeling back to me in a flash so i bought it and this year am making dan and i some christmas pillowcases so it got me thinking and i decided to start this tradition with my own daughter and granddaughter i finished this one tonight and yes i m just as excited about putting it on claire s pillow as my own mother was but shhhhhh don t tell posted by wendy at 6 37 pm 3 comments sunday september 7 2014 sunday walks last sunday we went for a walk on a new trail near home it s always nice to walk along the water and watch the freighters and the local tour boats ours and canada s claire especially enjoyed the mother goose and goslings i can t believe school has already started and fall is just around the corner although the crickets and cicadas sure are a constant reminder i guess that is what i love about michigan the seasons change and each has their own splendor to share posted by wendy at 8 10 pm 3 comments tuesday september 2 2014 it s school time again the first day of school always comes with some excitement claire has a new classroom this year and a new teacher i m excited for all the possibilities and learning opportunities for friends and fun but for awhile i worry will she say what she needs or will she struggle in silence will she join in or exclude herself will she be careful on the playground the list goes on i know as a mother of 2 other children that it s pretty normal for a parent to have these feelings so to all the parents out there sending their children to school this summer has been so enjoyable and relaxing we really didn t go on vacation but we did things around the house and outside some summers are just that way i guess it kind of carried over to summer ago my husband rescued yea rescued polliwogs from a ditch that was just about dried up and since we have rescue fish why not rescue polliwogs actually i had been bugging him to take us on a polliwog hunt because i wanted some frogs and or toads thus the rescue wogs but this has turned into such a fun thing to do with claire for summer school we are looking at one weekly we catch it out of the pond i m sure it s not the same one every week and then we look at it with a magnifying glass to see what s different about it and do a journal page she loves it and so does my niece oh i love when
